I’m 50 yrs old & have been a heavy metal and hard rock fan my whole life” from Poison & Slaughter to Iron Maiden & Judas Priest” Metallic & Slayer…. Scott Travis is by far the greatest drummer on earth, he makes it look effortless “ he is always on time no mistakes. Also amazing to watch.👍🤟🤟
Best Rock drummer in the world lol you better watch Niel Peart from Rush then who was nominated 10 times in a row from drum magazine as the best drummer oin the world . Unfortunately Niel died a few years ago from brain cancer.
Scott mentioned that when he was young, always wanted to be a member within the priest unit". There drummer, which many young people have dreams, but to actually transition a dream into positioned as a member is spectacular in life". Double bass triplets like no other, 2nd to none as rob mentions" lol
Jeff Martin from Racer X (his first band) was a friend of Rob Halford, and even got to sing backing vocals on the Turbo album. He was also the one who recommended Scott to the band after Dave Holland left.
Scott you raced motorcycles with me at golden eagles I was once Steve archers roommate the last time I saw you was when you flew over from California for their 39th Street Holiday Inn party you're incredible drummer and human being I'm proud of you and I remember you.... you raced a Yamaha..me a Suzuki.... Jordan slone introduced us.... I went into the army at 19 prior to that I was roommates with Marlene and Darlene and I'm sure you remember them
I'm a drummer and I just got in from a gig only to find this guy on TV and he blew me away with his power and control. It was called Rising in the East. Those double bass drums, wow incredible and those Paiste Rude cymbals. I'm now a huge fan.
I feel joy when I watch him play. The passion for what he does comes through in a way I only pick up on in a handful of my favorite musicians. Yes, many are talented, skilled, though people like this takes the energy to a different level and the kind of people who I hope play until they feel they just can't anymore.
You seem to know something about drumming. Can you briefly explain why he looks so effortless? Is it his wrist work? For casual fans, they think he lacks passion. But their eyes dreamer deceive them.
Awesome dude. Great view. As a fellow drummer I love the view. I saw Judas Priest twice when Dave Holland was still the drummer. Unfortunately I won't be seeing Judas Priest in concert again. But I am glad to see so many videos here on You Tube. Thanks for my rocking years JP!
I was vary fortunate to see priest in Vegas and Mankato, MN on the 50th tour! Painkiller in Vegas, screaming for vengeance in Mankato vary awesome shows!! Priest fan from way back so glad I finally got to see them 2 times on one tour!!
Scott Travis Hello Scott! I'm drumming for 40 years now. I want (need) to tell you that the "Painkiller" intro as been a shock and a very "food for mind" moment for me as a double bass drummer. Thanks a lot for that! Big up to you from France. 👍🏻🤟🏻🖖🏻🇫🇷 (And yes i know how to play it...) 🤪 Philty...
Oh my god!!!! I just love Scott's drumming style. He makes it look so casual, and easy. Budapest, Hungary loved you guys in Europe's biggest one week long summer Sziget Festival on the main stage. 2011 august 11th!!! That's my birthday BTW!!!! I couldn't ask for anything better.
Attended 2 priest shows with scott as drummer. He is the best double bass drummer world wide. Also what sets him apart from most is his double bass triplets:symbol timing. Endurance scott has. Along within Tama/Pa sound quality is stellar" he is also an excellent teacher, explains very well throughout beginner-intermediate-very advanced progressions. Lays a balanced foundation for the front runners to work with.
I remember seeing Scott as a kid in my hometown playing in club bands and playing in the battle of the band's at denbigh high school back in the early 80s
Yeah I remember racing motocross against him back when we were kids.... he was the drummer for a band named Teaser with a very talented female singer named Pam Shelby..... then it was Racer X and you know the rest
Yeah probably with my old roommate named Steve Archer..... Steve went to Granby I believe but they went to drum lessons together.... Steve's almost as good as Scotty but not quite
I was there! Awesome concert! Thin lizzy and black label society opened up! I remember rob telling the crowd about the many hits he and other bands wrote at the famed recording studio in Miami during the 70’s and 80’s............can’t remember the name though.
Wow! This is an awesome video! I was there to see the Priest. Came from Naples S.W. Fl. My British Steel (Jaguar) purred like a kitten on the I75 to Miami. Actually I have a Euro size black front plate with silver letters saying BRITISHSTEEL Good luck with the rest of the tour! Priest metal forever!!!
Saw Scott & Bruce Bouillet in Racer X @ Wolf + Rissmillers Country Club in Reseda CA -- Blistering Fuckin' intense playing by all ripped your face off shred! Some resume Scott Congrats !!! 🌟🌟🌟
Interesting. Metal Gods was the 2nd song in the set. Notice at the very beginning of the video (last note of Rapid Fire) he sets his floor tom back up (it was leaning forward) And at this time he realizes the drum riser is not level - the whole kit is tilting forward. Watch how he is looking around for people... no one there. After the song is over "the whole riser is tilting." Whoever he tells it to pretty much says there is nothing they can do... and he shrugs like 'yeah, I know.' But what'cha gonna do? The show goes on. Little things like that can really get in your head for the whole gig.
@@MeBallerman Of course he came back. Rob introduced the next song which begins with a dual guitar intro (Heading out to the Highway). Stepped off to have a word with his tech likely, see if there was anything he could do.
Some heads rolled for that I’ll bet!! I run into shitty uneven shakey risers all the time. It sucks. I’ve had mics falling over, setlist blowing away, cymbal stands moving, heads breaking, pedals breaking, monitors cutting out-dealing with it as a gigging cover band drummer But at Travis’s level- somebody best be jumping !
Same Scotty Travis from Virginia Beach who played in Rob Halfords Fight?..if so I'm sure you don't remember but I do, I was in a very cool music store there and you were playing and I remember I set down and was playing then you guys stopped I kept playing and someone came over and was really quite well rude. I was really scared and thought I did something wrong and was crying. My Father was a bit upset aswell with me BUT NOT YOU!!!!!.👍 you came over and straighten it out. Then you let me play ( or at the time try to) with you lot..👏👏👏👏👏🎎 Tyvm for that.. I will never forget Scotty Travis and PS I've never stopped playing since.. and btw are you still LIKE 9FT TALL?..lol or maybe I was just a wee little one then..😝 many blessings to you and yours Scotty.🎎 That was a fine day in the USA for me.
it is indeed, i will remember him as being a very nice man ( and super drummer) who made my day turnout to be AWESOME. tc uncle skeeter, be well and safe.
awesome story!!...yep, he's still 9ft tall!! LOL Back in like 1984-5 my BF Wayne played guitar in a local metal band Hooker. Scott was the drummer. super cool dude. Great times!!!
Solid as hell, man! It was interesting to me, as I generally open up the choruses on the ride cymbal… I never knew one way or another exactly how it was played on the studio album. So I thought it was interesting that you stayed on the hats pretty much the whole time. Then I was looking for a ride cymbal and I actually didn’t even see one! I thought maybe it was one of those things where for whatever reason you don’t use a ride cym.? Or maybe I just couldn’t see it? I just thought that was also very interesting. It made me recall how Keith moon, at least early on didn’t use hats. Just had a cymbal where the hats usually go. Anyway man, I was just curious. Thanks for bringing the bad ass rock!! Especially ripping it so hard at our age! Safe travels!
No new infos, I hope it will continue where Angel of retribution left with a touch of Nostradamus dark atmosphere. That Hellrider solo, omg... When I saw it performed by Glen and KK live (I miss him)... And we need a good ballad like on old JP albums. Mr. Travis extraterrestrial drumming is a must for a great album ofc ;) Please put some drum intro in one of the new songs.

A slight overstatement. Scott would agree. Btw: I love him with Priest.
My first *real* introduction to Priest was Unleashed, so it's no surprise I'm partial to Les Binks.

This is truly the most effortless magic ever created in drums.. 🤘👽
This guy is so happy & appreciates the position he has"! I love watching him work
One of the more accurate comments on here! Thank you
Tight as hell. Anyone notcied how light he is on the drums, yet brutal on the cymbals? You don't see that every day...
exactly, plus the beat he puts down is almost flawless
Great drummer! Thankyou Scott!

Les Binks...better than ever even today.
Les Binks....hands down!!!
Binks was such a creative player and the intro to Exciter is as important as Painkiller!
Dave Holland was bad ass
