- Part 1 of my day on Crawford Hill. The intro theme is due to the fact that we stayed at the Ponderosa Ranch, conveniently tucked inside the loop at Crawford Hill. Another highly recommended railfan
sweet vid... I remember the iron horse America video from back in the 90s when those MACs were BRAND NEW... that was a nice video... i'm surprised with DPU that these trains still use manned helpers... the best shots from that iron horse America vid was them showing the big push at the base of the grade... they set up on the overpass right at the yard in Crawford... excellent far off and overhead shot of the start of the big shove
Awesome!!!! Loved it. Nice camera work. Excellent video.
hey!...i was born in crawford, way back in 19 and 62!
Amazing man, it was like watching a 4 part movie. Thanks for the videos.
another great video
Fantastic stuff! Great sound quality particularly.
God that is a beautiful Railroad. BNSF power house coal country.
awesome video! thanks. ☺✌
Would you recommend a stay at Ponderosa? Thinking about taking a week there and exploring the Powder River basin
Transcon Railfan Good luck with that. They no longer advertise railfan accommodation on their website, only hunting, but if you want to go I suggest you call them and talk in person rather than email.
Odd... I looked on their website and they mentioned hunting and railfan packages. Oh well, maybe I'll bring my 12 gauge lol
Transcon Railfan Odd, when I go to their home page there is no mention of railfanning on any of the linked pages, but when I use Google my first hit is to their page offering railfan access. Let me know how you make out.
Transcon Railfan I really didn't answer your original question. I highly recommend the Ranch, just bring a lot of supplies along. The cabin is rustic but comfortable. And you really can't do Crawford Hill right without the access. Definitely the highlight of our PRB trip.
Those are some big beautiful machines. And what a location !!
How long did you spend there ?
One day at the curves, plus a few hours in the afternoon at the summit a few days later. That will be shown in Part 3.
Can't wait !!
2 nights
