Alaska Railroad 152 on the Huckleberry Railroad

- After getting some unexpected free time on the weekend of June 4 - 5, I made a last minute decision to drive 4 hours up to the Huckleberry Railroad, located in Genesee Township near Flint, MI. Unknown to me, the Crossroads Village, which is also located at the Huckleberry Railroad, was having a county day, which meant admission was free. Between chases, I enjoyed some homemade candies, apple cider, and demonstrations of old, steam-powered machines in operation at the sawmill located in the village. The Huckleberry Railroad itself is a narrow gauge 36" railroad. They own two steam locomotives, one of which is currently undergoing its 15-year/1,472-day inspection. I rode behind and chased Alaska Railroad "Ten-Wheeler" 4-6-0 #152 over the trips daily trips the engine made. The route was very short, but also scenic. The slow speed made two chases very easy and simple, with even some of the passengers talking to me while the train passed me at various locations. Enjoy!

It's definitely a little power house for what is it. I was impressed with how many cars it had when I first saw it. They were pretty full every trip they ran that day as well, so it's a popular place
Huckleberry always does push their locos in terms of car load.
I've always been a fan of smaller steam over big steam (some exclusions apply), but I'm amazed that this video is rivaling my Reading 2102 and C&O 1309 chases! Thanks for all of the support! These little narrow gauge railroads never fail to impress

Quite a crowd riding it. Good to see that. Could easily be a twin to ET&WNC 12, but a tad smaller.
