@@chrillex91 i did little research about the book, just little because i would prefer to know about the movie as little as possible. so, somewhat i know the general conflict of it specially for this movie. if they want for 4 hours of this quiet and slow movie, they might want to consider to have intermission or turn in to mini series (but if they want to turn this into series, they need to pick up the pace. man, slow pace really feel much more slower if you watch at home).
Just watched the movie and I gotta say the story telling and character development is off the charts. By the end of the movie you can visually see Ernest conflicted especially when trying to tell the truth to Molly. This movie and Oppenheimer are the front runners for me for movie of the year by FAR. I would’ve liked to see the alternate screenplay focusing on the story as a total western.

Being native (Choctaw and Cherokee) this movie was truly a masterpiece and heartbreaking because of accuracy of what happened. Even showing that white men were purposely trying to marry Osage women to get the oil money... even now having white ancestry is a sore spot for many who are descendants of the Osage tribe because they understand much of this mixing was done through manipulation and rape of women
I’m part Osage and this movie hit me hard. I did not know the history of that side of my lineage. And to understand now that I am most likely a product of those horrible things depicted. Just… fuck

This story was one I needed to hear, it makes you think of those even today mistreating indigenous groups of people, as far as how Apartheid continues in Palestine today

The radio show ending was brilliant. Still in a period setting, it presented a recap in a very unique and creative way. With all white actors and slick sound effects, a completely different perspective of the same story.

What ever the politics, this is a great movie. But of great importance, it’s finally shown how Native Americans can been perceived and treated in this country. It’s about time!
I would like to ask people who are complaining about the time of the movie if they know that no one have to see it on the cinema? or... if they read a single book in their entire life?
I think, the "live radio show" epilogue should have been a post credit scene. Molly standing up and leaving without a word after Ernest lied to her would have made a more impactful ending to the movie in my opinion. But other than that I have zero complains. It is a movie with phenomenal writing, directing and acting about a little know and really upsetting part of America's history and definitely worth a watch.

It was a solid scorsese movie. It was a great story but it's still basically a gangster movie. However it was a great movie for how long it was. Scorsese is too proud to go to the mini series format but this story I think would be an amazing 10 episode series.
Yes, there is a lot more to this story especially the Osage county probate court… and the state of Oklahoma attorney general office … and much much more… every Osage family was affected in someway clear up to the present; yes, a good long mini series
The book concentrated on the investigation, creation of the FBI, the film concentrated on the people and characters , both good , and I think Leo DiCaprio was at his best in this movie .

It's not like people were suddenly murdered the day after getting married. They slowly started ramping up. One person dies, it's an accident. Two people dies, tragic. Three people die, that's unlucky. Four people die, now that's getting suspicious. By the time everyone figures something's wrong, a bunch of people have died already.
The genocide of native Americans is just as subtle as everything else the US does. To this day the entire tribes keep fading to gambling, alcohol and drug addiction.
The actors, of course, are convincing and amazing, but the story itself is lacking a bit due to the Scorsese flair that typically works but not so much for this movie. 3/5
Dude, this was not about Heroes. It was about tragedy and sorrow, betrayal. Yeah, Tom White was pivotal and in the book it is very well acknowledged but really, did you want a Detective movie, seeing the board with pins and the suspects pictures with strings interconnecting them? We’ve seen that. In none of his movies where crimes are committed and solved by the law enforcement, very little is seen of it (except Departed because .. well it’s a duplicitous story). We never knew how did the FBI caught Henry Hill either. It’s a different perspective. There are no heroes in this movie. This one is not about that.
Great acting and cinematography…too many characters and story arch’s which is why it’s so long….I’m sure the book covers everything in detail I will be watching it a second and third time… I can see this being nominated for Best Picture…best Actress….director….set design and costume..also a nod for cinematography

6 ppl walked out in the movie... I was watching the watch as much as the screen. The cuts were weird... And drama moved slower than a sleeping cheetah. After 2 hrs i checked the watch and saw only 1 hr had passed.

The ending with Martin Scorsese himself reading out what happened to the real life characters was a really classy way of ending the film

I’m so glad they changed the script because making the movie a mystery movie about the beginning of the FBI would’v been to predictable and cliché.
I feel bad because much like Tulsa, I learned nothing of these events until I became an adult. I'm eager to now read the book.

The ending was a Freemason society hearing a story of how their predecessors have ended up succeeding in their darkened plans.
