lol but people want to be paraben free sulfate free mineral oil free vegan non animal tested all natural organic which the stuff our parents used is not 😂 that’s why lost people don’t use it
I think putting a leave in and twist cream before the petroleum product(Vaseline or Grease) works best than just water. I get really good results that way!
I was told by older women, who grew up in the 70’s, that all they used wash shampoo and grease. Not even conditioner. One lady told me she would wash her hair and once she rinsed then shampoo out and her hair was still soaking wet, that’s when she would put the grease on her hair. Then, she’d let it dry and fro it out. She said they all had “big juicy fros” from that. I’m going to give it a try.
This is so true! I put Vaseline in my 4 month olds hair after cradle cap made his hair fall out at the top and it worked wonders with moisturizing his hair. It instantly started growing back!!
Hi Hazel Goddess, I used this method during my time of homelessness and couldn't afford my natural hair products. It worked good for me other than the fact it will frizz quickly, at least for me it did. But I did find it that my hair grew fast without the aid of growth pills and oils. I still use it when I full like my hair needs a luster boost. Yours came out cute!
Also to maintain ur moisture all u do is spritz it with water. I do mine daily and I add a plastic cap for 2hrs. On wash day if it still feels a lil greasy after u shampoo then simply apply a smidgen (very very small amount) of Dawn or a lil White vinegar...I use Dawn myself..
Definition is poppinnnn 😍😍😍 I loved vaseline in my hair back in the day lol all these natural hair rules got me forgetting what my hair actually likes 🙌🏾😩
We did my hair grows faster and healthier with oil without it my hair breaks off I don’t get the dry hair no oil trend no wonder their hair doesn’t grow when they don’t use oil swear it does but months of videos no growth t😂
In my country it is common to use natural grease (sheep/lamp/beef/camel tallow, mixed with seaseme, peanut or cotton seeds oil, and infused with cloves, mahlab, orange peels soaked in water,
I get bomb results with water only twist outs. Sometimes I'm lazy after washing so I just detangle & twist. Sometimes I'm just lazy period & only use water.
Gorgeous results! Surprisingly no frizz! II use vaseline mixed with oils on my scalp and if I'm lazy to style my hair. It holds moisture like nothing else! Old school works. Just have to make sure shampoo it well.
No, they won't raise the price, it's already expensive and they know people (especially black) have been using it on their hair every since it was invented.
I have done Vaseline twist outs in the past. I loved the defined curls and moisture. Thanks! This video reminded me to go back to the old school Vaseline and water. It worked for me in the past. It can work for me again on my natural hair. I believe in keeping it simple when it comes to hair care. Especially for natural hair.
When I use hair grease on my twist out I get more moisture and better definition. Idk. It's just something about those old school products and techniques that keeps your hair on point.
I grew up using blue magic or dax in my hair. Sometimes we would buy raw Vaseline and mix it with the various oils and it worked great. But now I'm older I can't handle how my hair feels weighed down. But it does make your hair look great.
I feel like I’m the only black girl that hated grease as a child. My hair would still be dry and brittle and just feel oily but never moisturized 😭😭 My hair was on the shorter side too. And then on top on that, the grease gave me pimples on my back, neck, and by my hairline. I wish i could relate to whole “When we were younger our mothers just used water grease and our hair was long and moisturized” statement .
I like the simple things in life, like water & hair grease for my hair and call it a day! Not to mention all the money 💰 💴 I saved from the expensive natural hair products.
Vasaline is amazing if you apply a nice mask of vasline and sleep in it in the morning I find any dryness I had is gone and my wrinkles are extremely reduced . Idk how but apparently it gets rid of wrinkles. Been doing for years
Yep...the younger generations seem to think it's new...even the way they do their edges yep, that's ancient too, just look at some old Hollywood movies. It's the same for the "natural" hair trip everyone's on, not new either. Fashion/style never goes out of style it just goes around and comes back again.
Your results are great! I grew up on water and BB super gro grease with the lekair cholesterol treatments and pink lotion. My hair was so thick and heathy. I honestly dont think vaseline clogs pores not properly washing your hair does.
tricee1026 right! We didn’t have any of these rules and new hair products and our hair was so healthy and thick. When it’s all said and done, its marketing to sway us otherwise from new brands. Yes, Luster’s Pink Oil!
Girl please... My mom used to use that.... My hair was ALWAYS SOFT.. now we put all this hype on these expensive ass products when all we need is to go back to the basics.. My mom never used argan oil but she did use mayo and eggs and ROYAL crown and WATER.. hollar of you hear me lolol
It's funny to watch the younger generations use grease in amazement. It locks in moisture and smooths.....as opposed to using creams everyday that are wet and have to dry. ..and actually dries out your hair everyday....and don't really lock in enough moisture to protect your hair and eventually will frizz by the end of the day. You could use your cream first instead of water...then use grease/Vaseline to lock in the moisture.... win win.
Wow honestly no matter what I use my twist outs never turn out as good as yours 😩 this was so simple and the results are bomb 😍 bless those beautiful strands of hair.
My mother used petroleum jelly mixed with glover's mane in our hair. Another recipe was Green Dax mixed with castor oil. Both made our hair grow. You Tuber Chicoro seals her hair with petroleum jelly. Her hair is healthy and gorgeous.
Love these results! Your hair is so defined and has a sheen to it! Day 2 is looking good too! I don't have anything against grease even though l haven't used it for years now! I haven't tried that Cocoa Butter Vaseline before! I am gonna get it and try it on a Twist Out! TFS!
Vaseline is excellent for babies to avoid diaper rash cause it’s designed to block out moisture so yes if you put water first it would be extremely difficult to add Vaseline to the hair try it the other way around
It turned out really nice. I understand what you’ve saying about it feeling weird on your hair though. Petrolatum is the main ingredient in grease, I believe
My mama used Blue Magic on my hair when I was growing up and I had no issues with it. Still use it on my ends alot with a moisturizer cuz it locks in moisture well.
The only issue is that it can be super hard to wash out. But Vaseline is a great sealant. No clue why it gets such a bad rep when it comes to skincare. I might try this for my super dry spots.
My mom used to put water and vaseline in my hair all the time!! The vaseline is so greasy but it kept my hair together. That's probably why my hair is so damn long now lol
Your hair looks maddd pretty! I actually love using grease in my hair because I don't have to apply it as often compared to bottled oils. I feel like grease gets a bad rap but it really works. My fav kind is the Blue Magics Castor oil grease, I found out about it from a UA-camr called "The Little Mind Catchers". Her daughters hair is soo long and it inspired me to go back to using grease.
Yes! That VO5 Strawberry Shampoo is good and it's a staple product for me! My hair is not stripped and it leaves my hair softer than it already is! I love the scent of the shampoo too! I need to try the Strawberry Conditioner though!
Absolutely stunning! I beg you tho please try warm vaseline (you can warm it in the same way you’d melt sugar to make caramel etc),you can even add caster oil or black seed oil for fast hair growth too,pop a shower cap on to protect your bedding overnight,it’s just as easy as dish soap, clarifying shampoo followed with moisturising conditioner,or just add some baking soda to your normal shampoo to wash it out,but trust me sweetie you want to try it warm rather than straight from the tub 😍🤩 i ended up completely bald at the back of my head due to chronic psoriasis (I’m now on biological injections for it) and warm vaseline has helped me regrow my hair over this baldness,it’s only like 5inches long now but long enough to put into a band so I’m good lol Btw you have gorgeous hair I’m so envious
My mother used to put that on my hair as a toddler after she washed my hair and my hair was real curly! I forgot how curly my hair was until I became natural 6 years ago. I'm loving my curls! Old school!
I started using Vaseline when I was little, I put the hold thing my hair so my mom wash some out. I don't remember how long she left in my head but it was so long. Now, I'm starting back with Vaseline and water. It start to burn turn one day later my hair started to grow and burn cause it had been dry for a long time. I have to wash out in the 2 weeks on Monday and keep doing it.

My mom never used vaseline on my hair. I think it would weigh my thin hair down. I wonder if the people who did use was also the people who used Dawn as a shampoo to get it out.

Check out my hair brand Goddesss Curls: www.goddessscurls.com
Girl you better know it!!! The simple things our parents use keeps our hair MOISTURIZED!!! Blue hair conditioning grease is everything!!!!
I just finished using the hair grease on my hair and it is sooo soft and very well moisturized!!
lol but people want to be paraben free sulfate free mineral oil free vegan non animal tested all natural organic which the stuff our parents used is not 😂 that’s why lost people don’t use it
'Blue Magic' grease! Lol
Not moisture. Moisture comes from water. It's just a great sealant.
Shanna Martin hell yeah im going back to my hair grease
You are really making this natural hair journey cheaper for the ones who can’t afford these expensive products!!! Your results are so good! 😍
Yes like me 😁
I think putting a leave in and twist cream before the petroleum product(Vaseline or Grease) works best than just water. I get really good results that way!
Right, water, a good moisturizing leave in condition work better, hair is way more manageable, and moisture last longer than just water and grease.
That's because it locks in the moisture. It's oil in a thicker form, but different from other oils.
OK thanks guys
So I have a leave in can I apply the leave in then the oil then vaseline
I was told by older women, who grew up in the 70’s, that all they used wash shampoo and grease. Not even conditioner. What is the grease ?
Ms. Mississippi here on UA-cam does exactly this. She has thigh length afro textured hair.
Ok@@AA-hs5er
This is so true! I put Vaseline in my 4 month olds hair after cradle cap made his hair fall out at the top and it worked wonders with moisturizing his hair. It instantly started growing back!!
The Flemings might just try that

Vaseline is just grease without the coloring and fragrance
Exactly...they the same to me.
Grease also adds a few oils
True that
No it has fragrance
Blue magic/hair grease, is petroleum jelly with added oils and fragrance. The oil was the only reason I used it.
I grew up watching my grandpa do this every time his hair was wet. It always turned out soft and it defined his curls. He’s 77 with thick healthy hair
Thank you for this. I Am encouraged
Yall better stop acting like we aint grow up on grease! UA-cam got everybody acting like petroleum aint have our hair thriving when we were kids! Lol
We did my hair grows faster and healthier with oil without it my hair breaks off I don’t get the dry hair no oil trend no wonder their hair doesn’t grow when they don’t use oil swear it does but months of videos no growth t😂
We got bamboozled. Vaseline works.
True Vaseline works
In my country it is common to use natural grease (sheep/lamp/beef/camel tallow, mixed with seaseme, peanut or cotton seeds oil, and infused with cloves, mahlab, orange peels soaked in water,
So true!
At this point I feel like you could do a water only twist out lol your hair comes out bomb no matter what you use.
Maybe I should try that 😂 I think my hair would be dry though.
Hazel Goddesss yeah probably but never know lol 🤷🏾♀️ your hair is so perfectly trained.
I get bomb results with water only twist outs. Sometimes I'm lazy after washing so I just detangle & twist. Sometimes I'm just lazy period & only use water.

Now they’re going to raise the price of vasoline. Your hair turned out great!

You can always add oil to the Vaseline & can use leave ins under the grease to make the grease more like a gel.
The cocoa butter Vaseline works well on hair, better than regular Vaseline! And a little bit goes a long way. Your hair looks great!
Thanks for the tip :)
Water 💦 and Vaseline are my staples without all the extra ingredients and product build up 😍👍🏾
As long as you moisturize first you can put Vaseline or grease on top of it 🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️
Water is moisture. It works better in my hair than all that overpriced crap
@@lisakaye3919 lmao fr😭
I use it very lightly as a finisher after blow drying on DRY hair and it works just fine.🤷🏾♀️ We need to stop with the "rules".

Knew it would come out good💕 people out here in the caribbean uses it alot.
My granny's staples: Water, Hot comb on the stove & Vaseline ! Lol
dang my granny at least used blue magic 😂

I'm going to tell u what shocked me giving a bomb twistout...Royal Crown Hair Dressing. It's old-school and gives body and shine as well.
I use blue magic on my hair all the time. My mom got my hair growing with it as a kid so why stop now that I’m an adult.
Me too girl lol the coconut one though I don't like the way the blue one smell lol reminds me of the pressing comb days!
Does your hair collect a lot of dirt from the Blue Magic?
Blue Magic is Magic...Works wonders boo....My mom used to make cactus grease with the Blue Magic Grease .

Loveeeee Vaseline. She’s the OG hair product from wayyyyy back in the day 🥰
Yes I used Vaseline in one of my daughter's hair when she was little when I was braiding her hair, and yes her hair kept growing
We know your hair continues to be healthy and those styles come out cute...BUT, your skin is glowing and your eyebrows are on point!!!!!!!
It turned out really nice. I understand what you’ve saying about it feeling weird on your hair though. Petrolatum is the main ingredient in grease, I believe

The only issue is that it can be super hard to wash out. But Vaseline is a great sealant. No clue why it gets such a bad rep when it comes to skincare. I might try this for my super dry spots.
Try using a clay mask to take out the vaseline
Regular sulfate shampoo will do.

I was gonna ask you to do a hair video with Vaseline. I used to used it in middle school. Loving these hair videos girl
