Cold water diving: Jill is so good that she forgets that buoyancy control is much harder in cold water. Your exposure protection makes you a lot more buoyant, so you need a lot more weight to sink. As you get deeper, your exposure protection lose a lot of buoyancy, so you need to add more air to your BCD and, thus, remove more air on your ascent.

@Jill Heinerth Which is why I'm so glad I learned in cold water.

Just heard you with art bell back in the day. Excellent show. But my phone paused the broadcast over my Bluetooth speaker connection and said "I'm already here" when art was talking about A.I. take over and it absolutely freaked me out! I had to tell somebody. And i couldn't get it to replicate 😬😬

Hello I was just wondering if your in a diving bell do you need anything other than oxygen to keep the water out ?

Diving bells are refreshed with airflow from a tank or surface supply or the divers breathe off a scuba tank filled with the appropriate gas for that depth. Oxygen is breathed to speed up deco if the depth is shallower than 6m. The life support environment has to be managed. You don't want high oxygen levels in the environment around the divers and you must control carbon dioxide levels if the divers are breathing without regs. In terms of keeping water out.... a large bin is inverted on the ceiling and filled with air to create an air bell, just like putting an inverted glass in a sink and capturing the air. Air must be added to replenish leaks and make up for other losses to maintain the volume in the bell.
