About this video:
The endgame in chess is when most of the pieces (Queens, Rooks, Knights, Bishops) have been traded off. At this point in a chess game there is usually only pawns, the kings, and maybe a few pieces on each side. There are three principles which are vital to understand if you want to be able to win the game at the endgame. The first is that you must activate your king. The second is that pawns are much more valuable than at the start of the game. And the third is that passed pawns are the most important of all. If you can turn a passed pawn into a queen, it will most surely mean victory at such a late stage in a chess game. In this video I cover all of the chess endgame principles so you can improve and win more games.
That last 6 pawn puzzle was actually pretty insightful for being so simple
Lmao the pig part caught me off guard! Nice touch
Haha thanks!
I was looking for the skip ad button😂😂😂
I think that a touchdown in American football applies much more to the pawn reaching the endline
Thats him alright! One of the 2 "pigs on the 7th" that ate all my pawns!
So, the Bongcloud’s purpose is to activate your king
Exactly
@@ChessVibesOfficial If Magnus and Hikaru can use the bongcloud successfully, that's sufficient for a god tier status opening.
The pawn trick at the end is awesome, have already won 2 games since learning it
Nice!
@@ChessVibesOfficial also just had a crazy game where I lost both rooks and came back to take the queen and a knight and eventually win. Idk if you want it or it could be useful for a video or not I’m not sure. I’m also only a 1000 lol, tactics are decent but play fun and aggressive and blunder too much. Also trying some of your traps sometimes they’re fun to attempt
You have a real gift for explaining things on then chess board - thank you! Much appreciated…
very good, very understandable and delivered at the right pace - thanks
Appreciate that feedback! Thanks for watching!
The last principle: " Never call the pawn a Guy, because most of the time, they will become a Girl. ( Queen )" :D
Pawns are gender fluid
I started playing at 16, it took me 5 years to promote to a queen. Can confirm, it won me the game.
It would be cool to make all the pawns badass female soldiers

@@vlasoslav2782 It's a shame most people won't recognise this as encouraging suicide against trans people. How evil.
Excellent channel. Crystal clear voice, great story teller and of course excellent chess teacher. I really appreciate your efforts and watch your videos every evening. One for sure. My ratings in rapid is 1530 odd and I am sort of stuck there for a long time now. But still I do enjoy chess. I am also a scrabble player.
first: enjoy the game and, second: if you want to try get a littel highier, try to get better at calculating moves forward, like when you play a game, calculate your moves ahead and your oponent- only the candidt move yeah? good luck (rated 1800+ in rapid)
Wonderful... my fav part of the Gmes... few peaces... limited moves... ;)
Great info....I need to do a better job of activating my King!!!
Thanks, Marcus! Yes, the king is great at grabbing pawns in the endgame!
Please also remind which pawns are valuable:
1st Connected passed pawns
2nd Protected passed pawn
3rd Flank pawn
I remember it from your other video
Thanks BTW
2nd*
3rd*
@@igorswies5913 lol thanks realised i copied n pasted it n just edited the digits 🤣🤣🤣
Really helpful video. Cheers!
1:01 bongcloud
Lol Gent, exactly
great content. thanks very much. very helpful.
You are raising my level! Thank you.
That was so interesting! Thanks!
A year of chess videos later.. I finally know what a passed pawn is! Thanks!
Good video, thanks.
I'm learning a lot from you. Thank you my friend.
very helpful video!
Exactly what I needed and puzzled about how it works .. thanks for the info
Nice vids!
5:32 White wins with b6!
6:16 b6, threatening to capture both ways and so forcing a capture which doubles up the b pawns for black. Now you push the remaining pawn that is still blocked even after the capture as this forces the b7 pawn to capture to prevent promotiob while completely opening up the final pawn to be passed and now it pushes to become a queen ...
Excellent.
You are a great teacher for beginning chess players. You explain things so clearly. Thanks so much for this video. I learned a lot!
Thanks! Glad you learned some things!
Good shit
Very nice explanation Coach
“With 2. Ke2 you’re gonna get destroyed”
Hikaru: Hold my bong
Thanks! I was lacking Endgame knowledge. Very clear and solid explanation!
Glad it was helpful!
I learn so much from your teaching principles
Thanks this is a very good video this deserves more views
Thanks, M! Appreciate that!
I agree
U grow daily brother ♥️... congrats..keep on ...we with u
Thanks! Means a lot!
Thanks
Thanks brother it's very clear 😊 love from India
Man is this channel underrated. Hopefully it's now getting a push, considering UA-cam suggested it
Awesome video bro.....the last puzzle is insane.....only one with immense imagination and great calculation ability can solve it.....really nice video......expecting such good contents from you more and more.......
Glad you liked it!
I didn't know there were pigs in chess. :D
Haha Sanyam!
Nice
Love!
Thanks Nelson, that was helpful. I play a lot online and make tons of blunders. I seldom have Rooks or Bishops left at the end game.
Very instructive video, well presented, thank you. i noticed in the last example that if if black moves first, then he can prevent white from creating a passed pawn by playing b6 straight away. perhaps you could expand on this in a future video. thanks again
Yeah, if black plays b6, white must capture (e.g. cxb) to prevent black from getting a passed pawn. After that black must capture the pawn on the b-file to prevent white from getting a passer. If you continue like that you end up with blocked pawns for both sides. Then it just depends whose king can help their pawn(s) promote.
Wow very instructive! I find it easier to think pawn endgames as american football: You need to score a touchdown, your king is the protector, some pawns are blockers, others are the ones that deviate the defense and of course the runner!
Good way to think about it!
Master Nelson simply the best! I am pretty good now thanks to you!
At 2:55 it's also worth mentioning you can lose your passed pawn if you play carelessly. c5 would allow bxc5 and your advantage is lost. It seems obvious but maybe something a beginner may not think about.
Those are good tips for a beginner. Thanks! Keep them coming :)
Thanks Mayuresh!
Do you have more videos about queen endgames or one-pawn endgames? Great video
Thanks, Thermon! Currently just the KQ vs K video but I plan to add more endgame videos in the future. When you say one-pawn endgames, do you mean king and pawn against lone king? Or situations with one pawn and other pieces involved?
i am bit late but Gothamchess has a few of this kind of videos. I watched them today and they were really informatic
Principle #4 - e4 ke2 for the psychological effect
Can you please recommend a specific video on activating the King at the very start of the endgame?
Honestly Chess Vibes, I needed this video. Gonna go curb stomp some people with my pawn sacrifice now👍
1:01 Bongcloud opening
4:04 abslolutly love that
=P
very good strategy - I mostly lose game in end games
Also Diagonal King movements are OP in the endgame.
I think it would be great if you told us where each principle was in the video. thx.
Very useful, although Sir your all videos are very useful.
Why u aren't live streaming?
I just started streaming on UA-cam occasionally!
A passed pawn must also not be blocked by an opposing pawn--correct? So, can't be taken by a pawn and file is clear of opposing pawns.
I agree with the other comments..The Pig clip was a great touch 😂
Haha thanks, Joseph!
0:49 heard this somewhere before 🤔
That's why I look for trades where I will end up a pawn ahead. Do this a couple of times a game and the end game is already ninety per cent won.
got a like for the weee...
noice
Lol @ veee moment
I trade my knight off in exchange for 2 pawns. To open the board up, and give me more space to attack.
Love 💗 from INDIA
2020 bongcloud game shown right here boys!
when the little piggy came on the screen I lost it
Ouuwee
You missed the fact that a pawn is NOT a passed pawn if an opponent's is blocking it, not just that it cannot be captured.
Correctly stated it would be A pawn is a passed pawn if there are no pawns opposing its passage to the queening square.
" Ke2 "
foreshadowing the popularity of bong cloud meme
Lol that's right Raymond!
@@ChessVibesOfficial was it already popular back then? or do you somehow know the future?
Pawn structure, opposition and stalemate issues.
weeeeeeeeee!!!!!
why wouldnt the second black pawn at B7 be consdered a pass pawn? pawns in file create a unique position. your thoughts?
Eric it's only a passed pawn if it can go all the way without another pawn capturing it.
@@ChessVibesOfficial Or blocking it, meaning on the same file.
so by your defnintion if both players have a pawn on the same collumn but none at the adjesent columns both player have a past pawn xD leems segit
I think just omitted the part where there needs to be no pawn in front of it. Since that’s kind of obvious
I have strong start and middle game but end game not so good cause I wasn't moving my king legand.🖤💛❤️🇦🇺 Best chess teacher
I manage to win by just moving the king in the opening
at 2:59 isn't this endgame losing for white as if the king moves too far to cover d8 for the king then the black pawn on the a file just pushes before the white king can come back and capture it
Good question Mekan, I'm actually not sure off the top of my head. It's definitely tricky because both kings kind of have to stay put and guard the others passed pawns. I would have to put it into an engine and play through to be sure who has the edge though!
1:00 if you try to activate your king...
CLASH ROYALE refrence? 😌😂
👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
no bushepes in end game bro
4:03 I've thought it's an ad
Lol I can understand that =P
So, when I played the other day and it was queen and two pawns versus queen and three pawns we weren’t in the endgame yet.
I would consider that an endgame still.
my definition of an endgame would be-> its an endgame when both player only have two or less of the following pieces left: queen, rook, bishop, knight. For example, knight and rook vs queen would be an endgame, while two rooks vs bishop and two knights wouldnt.
Cant i take en passant at 6:24?
En passant is only if the pawn advances 2 squares forward. Good question!
Can you do something on pawn structure eg isolated d pawns etc and explain it in your particular style that allows us simple chess mortals to actually get some kind of an understanding of whats going on
Cheers
D
Thanks for the suggestion Darryl, I will make a note for potential upcoming video!
@@ChessVibesOfficial no worries mate
Im lopez too and im a filipino
Awesome! It's a good name ;-)
I like the piggy weeee'eeee'.. Hehe
Bongcloud???
Can you explain the Sicilian Defense?
I'll add it to my list of upcoming videos! Thanks for the suggestion!
5:28 but if it was black to play they can make it a draw I guess.
Lmao
homeboy please invest in a mic.
1:39 his white
White to C6. Then why doesn’t black take to B5 and free? Sorry I don’t understand this move
weeeeeee
Nxa7 and Nf4 happens
You are correct! I could've chosen a better example... Most people don't even notice that.
@@ChessVibesOfficial lol ty I didn't expect you to comment on this!
Right now the channel is small enough for me to reply to every comment! Maybe one day that won't be the case =P
reeeeeeee
Think of your pawns as worth between 8 points (8x1) and 80 (8x10). They are the 'Soul of Chess' for a reason.
Good way to look at it! Thanks for the comment!
White is better
White win this game b6
Black will win
my definition of an endgame would be-> its an endgame when both player only have two or less of the following pieces left: queen, rook, bishop, knight. For example, knight and rook vs queen would be an endgame, while two rooks vs bishop and two knights wouldnt.
I just get irritated by childish edits...
U voice is ok.... U don't need to bombard screen with meaningless pig clips....
lol grow up
Why do children get offended ?
@@danishbinmukhtarbecause you use the word "bombard" when he tried to surprise people with 1.5 seconds of a clip that might make you smile, twice.... and instead you are complaining about how he's so unpredictable
