- Here I am unboxing my new DJI MINI 3.
After owning the MINI 4k for a bit of time, I decided to upgrade, mainly due to the ability to rotate the gimble to 9:16 on the MINI 3 which is very cool for social media. So far the drone has been meh ok, however I may be exchanging it due to maybe having a faulty unit. Meaning I literally lose connection or connection would chop like crazy being only 100m or 200m away from controller💀 (advertised range is 10km) (my MINI 4K was also much better than this)
I had a horrible experience flying on 4th of July where the drone wouldn't even take off, throwing compass calibration errors and IM errors, when you calibrate both it still throws an error which left me frustrated and really mad going home with no footage that night. After a few hours of research I found that you need to shine extreme light on the drone when flying at night to take off (literally had to take off in front of my car with high beams on just to take off the day after). Having missed the original fireworks show due to the take off issues I went the day after to a smaller show where I had range issues 💀 The furthest I flew that night was 600m away at 120m minimum highet (highest was 150m), the drone spent the first 10 minutes somewhat ok with little chop in the connection but nothing crazy, however the crazy part started when I decided to come back (from 600m away) I completely lost connection and the drone simply blacked out at 500m, it stayed like this for a few minutes as I was already on low battery (hince why i'm coming back) so the battery kept draining it self and I literally had 0 control over the drone as it was simply blacked out staying still in the same spot (about 490m away). I would re gain vision for a few seconds and I would click the return home button but simply the command was super delayed so the drone was just there standing still....... after some extreme stress for a few minutes, I landed at the home point with 2% and 0 flight time left. (what also made the flight back more stressful is that it started force landing in a random spot 300m away, so i had to fight the force landing and avoid hitting anything on the way back and overall was the worst flight anyone could have all because range is simply trash (or maybe it is a defective unit)
Always good to have a new toy, keep inspired

@@NJDronee yeah all can be done through the controller/phone(dji fly app) when the drone is on, no need to connect to a PC or anything
batteries need to be updated one by one also by switching them and checking for update agin
theres a few short tutorials out ther just look up how to update dji mini 3/ how to update dji mini 3 batteries
@@hawk_202 yea firmware updates is what I do first thing, check the video and let me know if the version I updated to is not really current or something
Mate its not a faulty unit, they are shit, compared to to the range of even a mavic1
