brother draw the FBD of iceblock and use Vpg=mg to get V=m/p (where p is density of liquid in which the block is kept i.e. water and m is the mass of iceblock) now after the ice has melted it will occupy V"=m/p (p is again density of liquid water and m is the mass of water that had melted from ice block of mass m )
from V=m/p if p of liquid is less than the p of water than V>V" i.e the initial volume occupied by the ice block is more than the volume occupied after melting so in that case the level of liquid will fall. In case if p of liquid is more p of water than the level of liquid will rise
thus the level of water will remain unchanged if the iceblock was made with the same density of water as in the beaker

Whenever an object floats on liquid it displaces the liquid equal to its own weight, which is sometimes referred as flotation law. In this particular scenario, the water in the beaker will not overflow after the ice being floated completely melts because when the ice floated it already displaced the liquid equal to its own weight. Even the ice melts the overall volume of system ( beaker water+ice) remains same guaranteeing the water in the beaker will not overflow .

The density is water is maximum at 4 degree celsius, then it tends to decrease thus a V volume ice cube after melting will form V' volume liquid water such thst V>V'

  • @mmaster3137

Ice has less density than water meanwhile it also acquires more volume than water when taken the same in weight. Meaning, 1 kg of ice acquires more volume than 1 kg of water.

We know that ice has more volume than water ! Hence ice will take more space in solid form. But when eventually the ice melts, it converts into water which has less volume compared to the ice of the same weight. Hence the water level should fall.

  • @ironmerc7

Water level should decrease, since density of ice is less than density of water. This is because of the trapped air in between the water crystals. On melting of ice, this trapped air will go out as bubbles, effectively decreasing the overall volume and hence reducing the water level. However, the amount of excess volume occupied by the air is negligible, hence we can say that the level will remain almost same. Depends on the assumption you are ready to make.
