    The point of the video is to show that the eyeshadow applicators can replace all the expensive packing brushes and that you just need your eyeshadow applicators and fluffy brush. Its a way cheaper alternative to all the 20 dollar brushes out there i think

      Sophia Cardenas it's a personal preference. I don't like sponge applicators because I feel like it's kind of unsanitary to use them more than like once, and the cost does add up over time. Brushes can be washed and last for years and years if you take care of them.

      I don't know how "good" it is? I think the reason it's not used more is because you obviously have to clean your hands well first so you don't transfer any bad bacteria, but I would also say it's because your face is delicate and you have to be careful or you can damage your skin? I'm not 100% sure but brushes have a lot more give in them than your fingers do and pull less on your skin, not to say that it's painful but doesn't really help keep your face young if you know what I mean (hint, hint: wrinkles for life, lol)

      Shit

    • @MLEbug
      @MLEbug 7 років тому +3

      Tuakie you're right; no, it's not very hygienic and yes, brushes are softer on your delicate eye skin, though we rub our eyes with our fingers all the time and as long as you're gentle, your ring finger (having the least amount of strength) will not damage you... I'm honestly just a little lazy sometimes.
      Of course, I don't stick dirty fingers into a clean pan that I ever plan on using on a client but I definitely blend and soften the makeup already on my eyes with my own (clean) fingers. I have found that the natural oils and warmth help to mix the colours and soften the edges so you spend a lot less time blending.
      On the point of life long wrinkles, if you don't want those............die young?..........that's a terrible thing to say but we all wrinkle. The best thing for preventing PREMATURE wrinkles is to stay hydrated and avoid sun damage, smoking and other chemicals, (sadly, many of which are found in makeup, so) and makeup. I get a lot of compliments on my skin and people constantly ask me what I do and honestly, I'm allergic to most makeup so I just don't wear it. It helps, of course that I work freelance and not in a job where I have to wear it everyday (I used to, that's part of how I ended up allergic. :/ ). Anyway, I have no idea where I was going with this and I've rambled on way too long. (I have a cold right now. My brain is coming out my nose. :P ) I hope some of it made sense/helped. :)

    Yeah, use a flat brush to pack on colours and a fluffy brush (the one you use in the video) to blend. BUT in the case you don't have a flat brush, sponge applicator does work really well too. And it's cheap. And it usually comes with the palette you bought. (Or just use your finger to pack on the colour.) So, Cristine isn't totally wrong either. Hahaha.

      I recently bought an expensive and very popular nude eye shadow palette that people say fits everyone, but I just couldn't make it work for me. It just looked like dirt on my skin even though the application and blending was on point.
      I suddenly found out that golden and orangy colours actually looked much better on me, so I searched through my new and old makeup to try and find all the powder stuff I had in those warm colors, and what I found was a glittery coral blush from bobbi brown that someone gave me several years ago(and that I use as a blush all the time), and a dollar store metallic eyeshadow palette that I bought many years ago. I always thought this palette was really bad and poor quality, so I never used it,, but I found out that it had very good pigmentation and that blending some of the colors together made just lovely colors.
      So now I use dollar store metallic eyeshadows on the lids and the inner eye, and bobbi brown blush in the crease, and it looks way better on me than any eyeshadow I have ever worn.

I've since bought their brushes and I do like them. I've also tried Morphe brushes (not their makeup though). I will give them credit that they are affordable. My issue with Morphe is influencers pushing them like they're hot shit when their products are in no way innovative and are in fact very underwhelming. Sigma's products do speak for themselves, and from what I understand their brush cleaning products are what got people talking about them, not them paying people to push their product (even though they do that now). The stuff I bought from them in 2014 still going strong.

Makeup brushes aren't cheap, I mean there are ones that are super cheapy, but you get what I mean. I am totally going to try this just because it definitely looked more pigmented here. Plus it's really a cheaper alternative. We're all still discovering new things in makeup, of course Cristine is not gonna know what a packing brush is. Remember she's still learning. Personally, she does better makeup than me.

    You should use a packing brush in stead of a blending brush because it's more dense where as a blending brush (the brushes you were using) tend to be fore fluffy so they don't pick up as much product as a dense packing brush xxx love you still xxx

    I love cristine so much!.❤❤ but girl here's some advice all the way from the UK! But put on concealer/eyeshadow primer then, use a packing brush or some sort of flat brush to apply the eyeshadow and get pigmentation. THEN use a blending brush.

      Elf makes packing brushes I like for $1-$3, and if you want to save money just use your fingers to pack on pigment.

    • @msRosaLosa
      @msRosaLosa 7 років тому +43

      Elf sells pretty good af brushes for a wayyy cheap price of 1-3 bucks. Wet n Wild brushes (the white ones with the pink tips) are sold for the same price, usually a dollar if you find it in the dollar store. As long as you use the right brush for whatever you're doing, you can pretty much get the same outcome from a dollar brush as with a 15 dollar brush tbh. Just takes skills and a good quality eyeshadow (and primer). Chalky shit will get you little to no pigmentation. You want that oh so buttery and smooth eyeshadow that makes you moan when you swatch it.

    Makeup artist here 🙋🏼‍♀️ Cristine here me out for shimmers the ideal way is to put it on with your finger or a small dense flat brush and after you put the shimmer on it spray it with setting spray! Now with matte shadows, you pack it on slowly to get all the pigment and then blend the edges out with a blending brush. And also an eye primer or just concealer, makes colors pop better! But I also understand genuinely not everyone knows mostly because beauty gurus online aren’t always very helpful. I love you girl but those sponges make me so sad and cringe lol
