You are describing every fund manager on earth, not just her. Interesting video but it targeted one person where in reality it is the entire industry. There are ETFs that charge 0.1% or even more. It was said multiple times in the video that it’s not just her. Arvid Ali even said that no public figure in the investment industry should be trusted. Also, Jake clearly stated why this video was made - it was made because she’s making a comeback and targeting a new segment. You may know who she is and what she’s done, but many others don’t and that’s where videos like this are helpful.

after her prediction tesla had 2 stock splits. of 5 and 3. which means that a value of 400 now is a value of 6000 of previous float.
He mentioned the $4K price at 14:00 minute mark and mentioned the split.
This video literally is describing the bear market. They’ll be in profit again in 24/25. It’s the nature of markets.
People don't understand the simplest thing in the market, if interest rate goes up company multiples shrinks and if that company has negative cash flow (early in their growth) that company is penalized more than other companies. We will see how Cathie's fund doing in 10y she was beating the market by high margin before covid.

I subscribed to Jake Tran because I want to listen to... you guessed it, Jake Tran. Why is Arvid "featured" in every video of Jake Tran I have no idea. It's like Jake is the one being featured in these videos. Don't get me wrong, I don't anything personal against Arvid.. it's just that I'd like to watch and listen to Jake with his own analysis and research.

To be clear, I am not invested in ARK or even a big fan of Cathie Wood but this hit piece is so flawed and deceptive it would take pages of text to point it all out. Just reading the strategic disclaimer at the beginning tells you Jake Tran knows he could be held liable so he's protecting himself by saying "it's satire" giving him freedom to slander and malign with impunity.

She's right that tech has the biggest returns. She's wrong about the efficacy or timeline of many of the technologies she invests in though. I've heard her say truly ridiculous things. Even tesla is wrong. FSD and robo taxis are the entire justification for the valuation. Musk has said that is the dif between tesla being huge or being worthless as a company is FSD. Now, after selling the package for years at 10-15k a pop it's being legally rolled back as false advertising. Hype doesn't make right. Her newer investors are dumb for buying in after the fund already skyrocketed and as rates hiked for the first time since 2008

The bottom line is she is selling you the service that she is going to make you money and charge you a fee for it. If she does nothing but lose money for her clients you have to wonder why anybody would believe what she’s saying.

Arvid is an absolute walnut; the point of an ETF is to provide exposure to some group of individual assets (grouped by market cap, sector, industry, etc). It is NOT to make the line go up. Absolute regard lmao. Wood’s performance the last few years is entirely explained by the cost of capital getting crushed and then brought back above zero to something realistic.
I'm no fan of Cathy, she is reckless and greedy. But Tesla stock is pretty much exactly $4,000 like she prophecies. How can you mock her for such an unbelievable prediction?

You preach a sense that other people should be responsible for your own investment decisions. People invest with Ark because they want exposure to the areas of tech Ark Invest believes in. They read the disclosures which indicate that there is volatility in the tech sector, and understand that government regulations prevent Ark from making all the decisions it could otherwise make w.r.t. dynamic trading, which force it to be locked to the volatility of the tech sector in general. It's a market that's rigged against retail investors under the guise of "keeping you safe". You sound young. Learn how things work and why. Free people want the opportunity to take risks, but your line of attack on Cathy Wood seems to suggest that you think everyone is entitled to straight line upward performance with zero volatility. The people smart enough to voluntarily invest with ARK are smart enough to understand volatility comes with the territory. Please appreciate that you're 100% free to not invest in Ark, as much as others appreciate that they are.

Every fund collect fees regardless of market direction. So if they are doing good, awesome and if they're not, then they are supposed to go to jail because they're just collecting fees? Really? People got to realize that they're the risk takers not the fund managers. Second, it's an ETF and you just can go out of it if things are start not going good, like early 2021 in the case of ARKK. You're not meant to hold this or any investment vehicle for the long run.

i don't see why she should go to jail. She marketed investments to adults and it is ultimately their responsibility to decide whether or not to invest. All investments carry risk and the returns are not guaranteed. It looks like many people thought they could get rich quick by investing in a well-marketed etf, and it turned out badly. no one was forced to invest.
I'm pretty sure the point of this video is to show people the truth about Cathy, and others like her, so that the same ish' doesn't keep happening.

It absolutely makes her far more ethical. She's very open about what she's selling, and everything they do is fully transparent. Investing is inherently risky.

This is how it’s supposed to work. Different people with different funds making different bets, and investors get to place their bets on who they think makes the best decisions.
There’s no crime involved typically, just good and bad bets.

If you look at the stats, active fund management is a fools errand. It's extremely hard for a fund manager to beat the market. Maybe Medalliion fund, run by Jim Simmons' company, Bershire Hathaway and a few other funds have consistently beaten the market. So, paying over the top for fund managers is sub-optimal. Also if you look at the incentives (for most active funds) managers usually charge a percentage of the asset under control and a chunk of the profit BUT no do not share in losses to investor. So, fund managers have an incentive to grown their fund - and if they can make a profit great. But if they lose money - well tough. That's life. Do you see the imbalance?

So, this "expose" on a big Investment advisor/manager, by someone who is not educated in that field at all, is really a commercial for a small fry investment advisor/manager that no one has ever heard of? Lot's of luck with that mate.
I am pretty sure all financial advisors charge a fee whether you gain or lose, I did okay with about an 8 percent gain, but this outcome is established as one dials in your risk tolerance verses potential gains as you invest .Also I have different financial buckets that evens out gains verses losses. In other words keep diversified. That is the best advice I can give to you all.

I just heard of this lady the other day. She showed up in a finance show and said Tesla will go up like crazy. I looked up the results of her ETF and saw how dismal they were. I wondered why they are giving her air time. It says a lot of the finance community that they would even give her the mic. The whole industry is pretty rotten.
Yes her ETF crashed in 2021 but so did everything else, it was a broad market move, and not because of something she did or didn't do. Whether she could see the crash coming or not its anyones guess..

I came across the first Cathy's video in 2021 AND being new (2 years ) there's something I never liked about her , exept, I've ALLWAYS have good common sence . I've learned to manage my own money & I've done pretty good ! Be skeptical of gurus that make predictions about the future. I really think I'm smarter than Cathy and Kramer. Her investment choices are terrible, considering all the data, research, and connections she has access to. I am an amateur investor who does basic research. I rely mostly on superior psychology, strategy, and long term cycle concepts. I exceeded S&P 500 gains by multiple times over the last year or two. Investors don't need fund managers and financial advisors.

What you need to realize about Kathy, is she is always in profit, because her ARK invest Fund shares were obtained extremely cheaply. That's why she never looks stressed when ARK is horribly underperforming the markets etc. The tech companies must love her bringing in all that investment capital.

as a person who is a tech, I have found that the masses of people do not respond well to what tech people actually say. I think they don't really understand what is bing said. However, people in the business world and marketing have the skill to convince people of an idea even if its rubbish.

Never buy anything just because someone says so, or allegedly does. Even if the advice is good, you won't know when to get out, or it won't fit in your time horizon, or it's not compatible with your risk tolerance. Always do your own research. What you can learn from gurus (the good ones) is how to do research. It's always a good idea to check their track record before taking their advice.

All investment funds charge fees regardless if the fund does well or not. If someone can blame her for dishonesty it would be about some of her wild predictions (specially the ones about her own fund).
Actively managed funds that invest on trendy topics usually are very profitable for the firms and managers and unprofitable for the investors.

I often enjoy your videos (under the belief that they are well-researched) as I get to learn some new things. With this video, you lost much credibility because the bias shines bright. You are a successful UA-camr, so I guess you choose to play to the emotions of the audience by cherry-picking facts to support your story. In a 30-min video, not a single word about the once in a 40-yr macro-economic wild ride during this period?? Also, no mention of investment horizon which needs to be >= 5yrs to reduce variance of returns? It is also preposterous how Arvind contradicts himself by first saying that he put his dad's life savings into Tesla in 2014, and then later cites studies on random stock picking outperforming curated portfolios. Geez, make up your mind!
Let me mention some points you conveniently omitted - a) Cathie has always maintained that her funds should be a small allocation to an individual's overall portfolio (small correlation with S&P 500), b) She is not a macro investor, c) She takes VC style risk in public markets and the best VCs have 2 out of 10 home runs - VC money and returns also disappeared during this time.
Well put, a more intellectually honest approach would have been to overlay her funds performance with the tech (growth) stocks overall once the ZIRP bubble burst. 💥
