Great review! That’s why since last year I struggled w/pulling the trigger to upgrade to the G2 from to G30P. Now, I’m kind of eyeballing the KQI 300X instead! 😆
Definitely excited for the KQi 300 series - but it'll probably be a while before there's enough rider feedback and miles ridden to get a broad opinion of its quality. But having tested many of the KQis, I can only imagine it'll be great!
Just bought one in an EOFY sale here in Australia and am very happy with it so far! Glad that I read reviews and comments beforehand which mentioned not doing the firmware update. Supposedly it pulled back on performance so I won’t be doing the update just yet. Another point which was a great help to me was making the start speed 0km/h, which was more convenient than having to kickstart it to get it going.
I'm surprised all your range tests show the G30P as better like if they RideyLong is just marketing. I've used a G30P for last 3 summer and this summer I should be riding a MAX G2 and was expecting to do a little better. I have a few runs I regularly do so I should be able to quickly compare.
Yeah I was too! That's why real tests speak volumes more than marketing and specs. Do keep in mind that speed test #1 I held a higher avg speed than the G30P test, so it makes sense it doesn't go as far. RideyLong is nice, but isn't really a game changer. Overall, they have been able to offset some of the added weight with a more optimized powertrain, though.
You're welcome. I'd definitely say it's up there. Segway G series and NIU lineup are my favorites for city commuting. You may get similar performance cheaper elsewhere, but they're really refined machines
As someone who's pretty new into scooters and spent good month googling and reviewing them before deciding to buy one, it would say G2 max is definitely there at the very top of peak purchase. Other cheaper variants usually have worse suspensions, which might not be a big issue if you have clear and no holes road, but if you try good suspension vs mediocre one, there's massive difference on every little bump.
@@johnsysays depends where you live since some countries have different tax values and price jumps around. My g2 cost me 720euros for example. What I can figure out of this video is that Niu kqi300x series is an upgrade on this scooter. 500/1000 watt motor, 2kg less in weight, 48 volt, 10.5 inches tubeless tyre, and finally a dual-tube hydraulic suspension (at least in the front if not in the rear) collectively makes NiuKqi300X an upgrade over the Segway Max g2. Do you agree?
It does look like it on paper, but it is too early to tell. It needs to stand the test of time like the Max G2 did, but all I can say is I am really excited to test the 300X and on paper it looks like a game-changer. Hopefully I receive mine in a couple of weeks. Specs do look better (apart from no rear suspension, but I imagine it'll be the better choice in most cases if it holds up well)

I'd say it is well-warranted with the excellent suspension, beefed up dimensions and overall heavy-duty build, but on smooth roads there are alternatives models like the KQi3's and Horizon will deliver a similar riding experience at a lower weight. Thanks for watching.
It is heavy, but i thought about this purchase for a while. My roads and streets where i live are not smooth at all. Alot of cracked pavement and potholes, so i needed something like this to save me from those "what if" moments. With 0 suspention 100% wouldnt fallen off and hurt myself by now.

I would start my figuring out how steep the inclines are where you plan to ride. There are some online tools that should be able to show percentage or degrees. At 80 kg I felt that the 17% was the maximum it could handle. At 100 kg, I think you'll be good up to 13-14%. It's definitely one of the better climbers in its class. The KQi3 Max (I have a full review with hill tests on my website) may just beat it by a hair.
Please I need your advice. I want to ninebot g2 because of the confort of suspension. But do you know any other e scooter who are better with more space for the foot and also confortable suspension? And reliable brand.

Great review. I asked you the same question on an older reddit post, so apologies for the harassment, but do you prefer this scooter or the KQi3 Max? I am struggling with the decision. I am leaning towards the G2 but am concerned at the performance drop-off and the long term reliability of the battery.
Thanks! I saw - it's a tough choice, honestly. Got a long commute or like to get there quick? KQi3 Max. Hills? KQi3 Max (cuz of 48V). Got rough roads on your commute? G2. Rarely break 20 MPH (or have no intention to)? G2. G2 is the most comfortable, but the KQi3 Max is the more capable in performance. Admittedly, the G2 feels better until you hit 50% battery ish, then it leaves me longing for the power retention of the KQI3 Max. Hope that helps, and it's no harassment at all - I'm happy to help. If you end up with any of these, you can always support future reviews (e.g. the new suspension models from NIU) with affiliate links in the description. I have a full video coming on the KQi3 Max, by the way - but most points can be found in my written review on eridehero.com
@@eRideHero Thanks for the detailed response. Went and read your written review on the KQi3 - you are producing excellent content. Despite a general sense that the KQi is a slightly better scooter, I decided on the G2. It made for sense for my commute in the EU I feel. Thanks for helping me to make the decision. I'll be sure to recommend you to others and check out your reviews again in the future.
Appreciate it a lot! Sadly Google killed a lot of my reach on search this past half year making these reviews not so financially viable but I push forward and hope for better times. Thanks for supporting!
Hello. I tried two new units of this scooter and in both of them I felt that the back wheel made a knock at times when riding. I understand that the "problem" may come from the cushioning or the fender. What do you think about it?
@@citytouchstudios1144 bro I have fallen off the scooter going 19mph (Mine max speed is 20mph) Can't imagine going another 5-6mph. That shit gets dangerous after 18mph trust me.
Very nice review but I’m left with no firm decision haha. Is the 36 voltage issue is really a big issue for which I should switch to let’s say Niu Kqi3 max? Or do you think other features such as suspicion etc should rather be taken more serious than the 36 voltage issue?
Thanks, Wahid! My two cents: - If you live in an area with somewhat steep hills, go with the KQi3 Max. It's cheaper and has a bit more power. - If you live in an area with moderate hills and don't really care for the extra oomph of having 48V, but would be happy to pay a bit extra for superior ride quality, go with the G2. The G2 is more comfortable, but the KQi3 Max offers more performance relative to price.
@@eRideHero thanks for the reply. I actually meant Niu KQi300X which also has one dual-tube hydraulic suspension in the front. I mistakenly have mentioned KQi3 max. That said, weight is another issue because Segway model is 24 kg and the stated NIU model is 22 kg haha. I have now decided NiuKQi Air X which is made up of carbon fiber and is only 11.7 kg but that is too much expensive despite the fact that there are no suspensions either. I live in a plain city in Austria with high quality road infrastructure.
You're welcome. I think the 300X will be good, but it always take some time for reviews and feedback from people to come in to judge its reliability. I actually just tested the NIU KQi Air - I uploaded a review on my channel. I can highly recommend it - it's the most comfortable ultra light scooter I've tested. You live in EU? In that case, both Segway and NIU will be locked to 25 KMH, so you likely won't feel a big difference between 36V and 48V
@@eRideHero I will watch the review now. If I go for Air then I would probably go for Air X which is all carbon but do you think it makes a sense spending so much money on a scooter without suspension.
Yes, if road conditions are good in your area, you don't really need suspension when you've got air tires. Also, I'd go with the regular Air over the Air X - they're only 200 grams apart in weight but the X is notably more expensive
Price is good, so is the acceleration, and the ride quality. I prefer a bit more speed, and a lower weight. I just hope the gen 3 comes with 48 volts !
hi, you mention it struggles on 15% hills, but (around 2:42) the video shows the scooter on a hill of around 25% (which is ~14 degrees), maybe you meant 15 degrees instead of 15%? Also I would like to know the speed on that hill shown in the video as I plan to climb a similar one in my usual travels 🙏
That incline peaks at around 17-18% and avg speed crawls down to about 6 KMH (≈4 MPH). I think Segway has some smart firmware that kicks in on hills, you sort of feel that the scooter won't make it when you first hit the hill but then kicks in some momentum. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
I'm between this and a Segway GT2 super scooter. My commute is about 1.8 miles. I want something that can fold easily so I can carry it inside, but don't mind walking it a bit. If anyone has any insight, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
The GT2 is awesome in its own right but it the opposite of portable. Unless you plan on adrenaline recreation, the G2 will serve you better. The GT2's folding point is quite high up on the stem, so it's both awkward and heavy to carry.
@@eRideHero thanks! I appreciate the response. I will try and see how the commute is with a G2 and if I still feel the need for speed I can always upgrade.
Exactly - feel free to use my affiliate link in the description for the G2 if you feel like supporting the channel. 🙌 Take it from someone who has scooters in all weight/performance classes. If I need to do a 2-mile trip, I don't pick a dual motor beast - it's simply too heavy and unhandy. Overkill. For weekend joyrides, it's a different story though. 😂
@@eRideHero I was also thinking of using my scooter to do uber eats orders on the side. I live in a downtown city and was thinking the GT2 would help me do them faster. Would this affect your decision ?
I'd still go for the G2. Very city-capable and good range, with the possibility of upgrading down the line. Depends on the road infrastructure in your city also I guess. I personally wouldn't be able to hit anywhere near top speed on my GT2 here in Denmark, but it may be different for you if you have long stretches with little traffic.
The stem latch angle of the G2 Max is too obsolete and awkward, making portability near impossible not to mention there are too many complaints coming out about its leaking front suspension, The Apollo City Pro 2023 would even be more portable due to its centered stem attachment despite being 12 pounds heavier and is an excellent alternative if car replacement and long range is priority. The best alternatives with a similar price would be the Apollo Air or the new Go. Both have slightly lower ranges but make up by being far more portable and lightweight, especially the latter.
Hard disagree. The folding mechanism is good, and it is absolutely not near impossible to carry (hardly makes a difference in fact). Although a centered stem is objectively better, it's not a big deal. As an owner of the City Pro 2023, the City is nowhere near as portable as the G2 Max. You have to tediously bend down to pull up the hook (and set it in the right position) for the latch to properly get into place. I get where you're coming from, though - the NIU click-release mechanisms are definitely better.
@@eRideHero Yeah. What I meant by portability being near impossible for the G2 is storing it in tight places without the handlebar sticking out and proding at people especially in public transit. This could be a safety hazard and will potentially lead to disputes or altercations due to this design flaw. I actually prefer the Segway F2 Pro's opposite angled stem latch configuration because I am right handed carry and left hand support hold on the folded bar as most people are right handed to which I can fit my entire body width within the entire handlebar width. I carry the scooter back-facing forward because it enables me (and most people) to be able to carry by the stem with their dominant hand and the handlebar with their non-dominant hand for support. This way of carrying makes it extremely easy to guide and dictate where the sticking handlebar can be safely stored without it causing a hassle. That also gives me the advantage of safely tucking almost the entire width of the handlebar under or between seats so that the remainder sticking out is very narrow that people won't trip on them or cause altercations unlike the G2's or even G30P's opposite angle configuration! Technically, the Apollo Go will be the best alternative/reliable choice to the G2 Max if similar range, required portability for public transit is needed and Apollo City for longer range and more streamlined latch angle.
It is not the best! It is not even in the top 3!!! Who would go for 36 volt??? It's sluggish and useless. Even kqi3 pro is better cause it's slightly weaker, but it's consistent to the last minute
@@alidehghani7904 most EU countries ride 20-25km as its max limit, you have to hack it to ride above that. If you end up with any of these, you can always support future reviews (e.g. the new suspension models from NIU) with affiliate links in the description. I have a full video coming on the KQi3 Max, by the way - but most points can be found in my written review on eridehero.com
In terms of battery reliability, I belice it's good on the G2 - the issue is just the 36V setup and possibly firmware limitations
TRUSTED, GREAT REVIEWS.🎉❤😊
Thank you!!
Hello. I tried two new units of this scooter and in both of them I felt that the back wheel made a knock at times when riding. I understand that the "problem" may come from the cushioning or the fender. What do you think about it?
Not something I have heard about before. I know that early batches sometimes had a missing screw at the rear fender - maybe that is the case?
@@eRideHero Hi. Finally I bought G2. The knock sound is from the rear suspention.
Interesting. Happened on all units you've tried?
@@eRideHero Yes. All G2 scooters have this knock sound in rear suspention
Weird - never noticed.
Try the Apollo city dual motors with regen brakes!!!🎉😂❤.
Or the Phantom & the Apollo pro.😮😅😊.
I have a review of the City Dual and Phantom on my channel. Great scooters! 😎🙌
It's max speed 22mph ?
Great scooter but I think 24/25 would be ideal for it but she does move nice
Yes, Max is right around there.
Yeah a 48V setup would give some head room for higher speeds. Can be modded, of course - but not for everyone and you'd void warranty.
@@eRideHero so what's the mile range at top speed ?
@@citytouchstudios1144 bro I have fallen off the scooter going 19mph (Mine max speed is 20mph) Can't imagine going another 5-6mph. That shit gets dangerous after 18mph trust me.
Very nice review but I’m left with no firm decision haha. Is the 36 voltage issue is really a big issue for which I should switch to let’s say Niu Kqi3 max? Or do you think other features such as suspicion etc should rather be taken more serious than the 36 voltage issue?
Thanks, Wahid!
My two cents:
- If you live in an area with somewhat steep hills, go with the KQi3 Max.
Kqi 300x should be a solid competitor
Definitely! Super excited to see NIU finally bringing suspension to their scooters.
Price is good, so is the acceleration, and the ride quality.
I prefer a bit more speed, and a lower weight. I just hope
the gen 3 comes with 48 volts !
Would love a 48V version, but I have a hard time seeing Segway make such a substantial change and not just a new scooter
CmonArsenalll!!
GGMU!!!
@@eRideHero Booo LoL
Do you think i wait for kqi3 300x or just ho with the max
The G2 is great - but the KQi 300X may just outperform it at a lower price. Real tests will tell in the near future when it arrives in my storage.
I find it has a lot of rattle from the rear fender.
hi, you mention it struggles on 15% hills, but (around 2:42) the video shows the scooter on a hill of around 25% (which is ~14 degrees), maybe you meant 15 degrees instead of 15%?
Also I would like to know the speed on that hill shown in the video as I plan to climb a similar one in my usual travels 🙏
That incline peaks at around 17-18% and avg speed crawls down to about 6 KMH (≈4 MPH). I think Segway has some smart firmware that kicks in on hills, you sort of feel that the scooter won't make it when you first hit the hill but then kicks in some momentum. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
@@eRideHero thank you 🙏
You're welcome 🫡
Just swerve back and forth helps steep inclines sometimes. Just going straight can be tough on steep hills.
@johnstover4584 good shout, it does indeed help on steep hills!
Take it from someone who has scooters in all weight/performance classes.
GRAT TECH DETAIL AND DATA
Thank you very much!
Inmotion s1 or segway max g2?
Haven't had the chance to play around with the Inmotion S1, but it looks promising-the higher voltage should be nice.
@@eRideHero i bought max g2 last 2days ago,
Now i waiting for th gt1 to sale,, 🤫👍💪
Congrats on the scooter purchase!
how was it 36 kmh?
What do you mean?
@@eRideHeroon the segway ninebot website it says 20 kmh and yours goes 36 kmh
i love this scooter!
Me too, Chris!
G2 definitely needs a 48v battery
Would be great!!
Hi, how did you unlock it? You changed the serial number?
Using XiaoDash - only worked prior to 1.4.8 firmware I believe. If you're already after that, it's too late i think
Thank you
You are very much welcome. More to come
Looks like the aovo pro es Max
It does indeed. The Aovo is likely a clone to an extent.
The stem latch angle of the G2 Max is too obsolete and awkward, making portability near impossible not to mention there are too many complaints coming out about its leaking front suspension,
The Apollo City Pro 2023 would even be more portable due to its centered stem attachment despite being 12 pounds heavier and is an excellent alternative if car replacement and long range is priority.
We need european units!!!
Good shout. I will update my graph layout to somehow include conversions in the future. Thanks for watching
It is not the best! It is not even in the top 3!!! Who would go for 36 volt??? It's sluggish and useless. Even kqi3 pro is better cause it's slightly weaker, but it's consistent to the last minute
36v vs 48v only matters if you go past EU limited speeds lmao, if you're going 20km/h at best, it doesnt matter at all.
What about uphill?
@ChoJun69 but I guess no one rides at 20 km! Anyone I see is riding, usually around 30 km
@@alidehghani7904 most EU countries ride 20-25km as its max limit, you have to hack it to ride above that. Majority just dont talk about it, im personally riding at 25km/h, often 20km/h cuz its bicycle lanes with pedestrians around and i would rather be safer, although i mostly go remote path with less light stops , cant drive on street sadly. (the bicycle lanes are pretty big, can easily fit 2-3 scooters/bikers)
Bro got the ninebot 1 day ago 😂
Nah, been an owner since 4th of September last year, so over half a year.
@@eRideHero ok
got a refund cause the front shock became wobbly and they don't stock parts in europe, timely warranty repair is impossible with these idiots
crazy deadzone on the throttle too, literally no response until the last 30% of throttle position
Dont ride your scooter in the rain if you can help it. i dont care what the waterproof rating is claimed to be its going to last so much longer. if kept dry
Agreed-Avoid rain as best as you can. For someone like me living in Denmark where it rains 170 days a year, it's not an option, though. In that case, the G2 is a good shout.
