One of Kosar's most heroic games. Yes, you read that right: Belichick was not yet "Belichick" in 1992. He was of course a brilliant defensive strategist (as evidenced by his 2nd adjustments after his D got torched by Marino in the first 30 mins), but he had no feel for offense at all...none. This was the source of most of the tension he had with Kosar (culminating in 1993 with Kosar openly defying Belichick, and getting cut for it midseason). Obvious telegraphs, personnel groupings that completely gave away the play by the time the team lined-up...needlessly slow developing motions and multi-back sets....the only pass plays Belichick liked were wheel routes, screens, and quickouts. The only reason the Browns got back into this game was Kosar, who took over the game and started calling plays himself in the 3rd quarter (you can see it...in the first half Bernie had to stand there and wait for every call to be signalled in from Philcox; after a couple of embarassing penalties and wasted time-outs, Kosar had had enough. And as many of you are aware, the Steelers missed on a chance to have Marino play against Cleveland twice a year back in 1983. Marino was a native of the Pittsburgh area and played in college for the Pitt Panthers. The Steelers opted not to draft Marino to succeed Terry Bradshaw, despite Marino's local connections. Instead, they chose Gabe Rivera, whose career got off to a promising start, but quickly ended when he was involved in a car accident that left him partially paralyzed in his rookie season.

Al Michaels is wrong about Clay Matthews. In 1992, Clay Matthews was the 6th oldest player in the NFL, not 5th as he says. There were 3, not 2 quarterbacks older than Clay Matthews. The 3 quarterbacks older were Steve DeBerg, Phil Simms, and Vince Evans. Evans was born June 14, 1955, and Clay Matthews was born March 15, 1956. They should have been told that before saying it on the air.
Dan Marino could have played a game at Cleveland Stadium annually if he had been selected by the Steelers, the Browns' biggest rivals, in the 1983 draft. It would have made sense, given he was from the area and played for the Pitt Panthers. But it was not to be. The Steelers chose Gabe Rivera instead, a promising young defensive player whose career was prematurely ended in a car crash later that fall that paralyzed him.
Super Bowls are won by teams not by quarterbacks(and luck is also a component of winning SBs even if you don't want to admit it) . Tom Brady is so overrated . He just had the good fortune to play on one of the best all around teams ever. Marino and a dozen or more qbs were better than Brady . Brady imo is just a very well tuned passing robot but without the software and/or hardware to run left or right, can't throw while running or moving, can't throw diagonally , etc. When the pocket breaks down Brady is useless . Marino was incorrectly tagged a pocket qb . even with his bad knee he could scramble, move his feet in the pocket get pass off split second before being tackled, could pass running left or right, pass one way while running the opposite way. Marino is one of the top three greatest qb , no superbowl wins, who cares.
Facts. Brady is the most overrated and overglorified athlete in professional sports history. He doesn't suck but hes no where near the greatest ever. He may have had the best career but Dan was the superior QB in every single aspect of the game. Hes the greatest even without a super bowl
after seeing that Home Improvement promo in the middle of the 1st quarter I can see this was taken from Boston's ABC affiliate at the time, the Patriots, a division rival of the Dolphins, had not been on MNF since 1987, and at home since 1981, a result of bad fan behavior in home MNF games; the drought on MNF would last through 1994, as the Patriots did not make the playoffs all that much in the pre-Kraft era; appearances on ABC (and since 2006, NBC), have been commonplace for the Patriots since then (the 1995 game against the Bills was the first home MNF game since 1981, and fans were well-behaved at that game)
2:21:54 that was a fumble. Marino did not throw the ball forward. That spike was a lateral and if called correctly would have ended the game. Could imagine the look on Dan's face if the clock just ran out? Wouldve been priceless.
@@whataboutrob442 So basically to stop the clock you must hike it and throw it at the centers feet or directly in front of you. Dan here spiked it backwards making it a fumble. The clock would've run out if the referee called it right.

Miss that open song
Looked like Belichik blew off the handshake with Shula at the end.
after seeing that Home Improvement promo in the middle of the 1st quarter I can see this was taken from Boston's ABC affiliate
at the time, the Patriots, a division rival of the Dolphins, had not been on MNF since 1987, and at home since 1981, a result of bad fan behavior in home MNF games; the drought on MNF would last through 1994, as the Patriots did not make the playoffs all that much in the pre-Kraft era; appearances on ABC (and since 2006, NBC), have been commonplace for the Patriots since then (the 1995 game against the Bills was the first home MNF game since 1981, and fans were well-behaved at that game)
Quando o monday night era incrível.
2:26 the ABC Sports logo of the late 80s/early 90s uniquely did not incorporate the main network logo
Great to see Don and Dan beat Belichick and Saban.
Who remembers what happened to week one?
Hurricane Andrew hit Miami on August 24th. Actually lived in Miami at the time.
This game was blacked out in Cleveland
Anyone have any idea what channel 5 aired from 9 to 11 that night?
Dont know if Miami was set for the second to last play. Would have run off the last ten seconds i think. Great game.
22:46 is why Dan Marino had a tough time in the playoffs.
Man forgot kosar brought the browns to the playoffs 5 years out of seven. That's not bad considering we always said they were a bad team. Lol
Hard hitting game
This by the way was the last primetime blackout in Northeast Ohio.
2:21:54 that was a fumble. Marino did not throw the ball forward. That spike was a lateral and if called correctly would have ended the game. Could imagine the look on Dan's face if the clock just ran out? Wouldve been priceless.
What are you talking about? What fumble...
@@whataboutrob442 So basically to stop the clock you must hike it and throw it at the centers feet or directly in front of you. Dan here spiked it backwards making it a fumble. The clock would've run out if the referee called it right.
lol why is Bernie shirtless?
He he, players interviewed for the MNF promo were shirtless in this era, something I remain amused by.
11:15 Mark Duper TD
Damn shame that ole Bill got fired before he could cheat his way to another accomplishment. Guess he'll just have to settle for second best. Shula still the GOAT.
He’s waiting to take the Buffalo Bills job in 2025 after Sean McDermott chokes away the upcoming Bills season away. Bookmark this.
Personal foul , unnecessary roughness gee I wonder who they wanted to win that game . This is around the time money started winning games . Sad
Belicheck was a sore loser didn’t even meet with Shula after the game
How did that Brown's coach turn out.
@Dicky Jones Not great without the cheating. But let's go to the video tape...
@@brianjacob8728 you’re stupidity isn’t to be believed
Turned out to be the best ever
@@TL2354 You're? Your stupidity is pretty obvious...
@@TL2354 It was all Tom Brady. Belicheat didn't do crap in cleveland.
One word to describe this Danny.
TAX COW FARTS hey stupid face please stop talking shit bitch
Best passer ever Marino. Only ringless bec he never had a team with defense or running back.
goat. rings are given to great teams not necessarily great players.
GOAT. No one was better or did more with less
Post season , BUST .
The real NFL...... today's NFL is too woke... inspire socal justice...... it takes all of us and end racism..... I'm sick of that crap.. its like a big billboard on the field
Watching Bernie Kosar scramble in the pocket is absolute hilarity
Oh how I cherished these old FINS games, growing up a massive fan of Marino at 10 yrs old in 84,but having the luxury of watching a lot of the gms I missed because I grew up in CT so only a handful of FIN games per year I could watch, but damn,at 25:50 I'm sorry but it's plays like this that now tells me the games were not only rigged back then too,but they were scripted as well, just like today!!Man when I started realizing ALL sports are SCRIPTED it took me a long time to thoroughly believe it!?I always knew there was at least some rigging due to Vegas and the pure fact that the NFL is owned by BILLIONAIRES!!lol,so if u are one of those sound asleep behind the wheel and actually think it's amano, amano u are in ur own Dreamland!!But it doesn't seem like there was a ton of technology like TODAY!!Oh to be a youngster again,As adults we learn there's actually a truth behind the letters in the name,hmm.....lol,but its actually not funny man, I'd still take 84-96 any day over the bogus WWE we have today for the NFL as well as EVERY other american sport at the very least!!
What are you smoking? Absolutely nothing wrong with the plat at 25.50
The old-fashioned error alarmingly name because icebreaker classically remember of a alluring gear. impossible, repulsive father
Say what!?
Too bad he 0-3 against Jim Kelly when it REALLY counted.
Too bad Dan Marino will always be a better QB than Jim Kelly. The bills were a super bowl contender without Kelly, the dolphins were a bottom feeder without Marino
