We had a solution to piracy back in the early-mid 1990s. Shareware games were released with a perfectly playable, _complete_ episode for FREE, including a final boss. It was a game in its own right, but if you wanted to continue the experience and finish the entire game, you'd buy the full copy at your local retailer. It was win-win. :)

Imagine being locked to whatever price the manufacturer wants to set for the game, not being able to borrow and lend games, not being able to resell (and sometimes even return) games, and missing out on any physical extras included in the game all for the sake of a bit of convenience. Y’all must be the same people who pay $30 to doordash a burger to their front door.
Physical copies are good for collection purposes. Also, sometimes digital games get revoked by any major console. They can't take away a physical copy from you.

Hey tuv! You forgot something in Batman Arkham asylum; random grapples that lead to nowhere would appear very often, and if the player was to tap the grapple button when this appeared, Batman would just grapple into nowhere for all eternity
16:27 to be fair, considering the controversy around ubisoft delisting of assassin's creed liberation so that even gamers who purchased it couldn't access it, there is more likely to be a push for physical copies of games or games that don't require any internet connection to play once downloaded
i remember when i first found out about spyro's antipiracy i told my mom and she got upset because in that moment she realised her version of spyro that she got when she was younger was pirated 💀 rip
I litterally love buying physical copy’s of games. Also it’s so cool seeing a video on anti piracy I’ve loved these for the longest time it’s so interesting brother
I feel like that for batman arkham asylum you should have mentioned the famous response by a dev when someone talked about the anti piracy measure thinking it was a glitch on a gaming forum "The problem you have encountered is a hook in the copy protection, to catch out people who try and download cracked versions of the game for free. It's not a bug in the game's code, it's a bug in your moral code."
6:12 No Tuv they could not have just used a licence code, This was before the internet was large so they could not have a database of generated licence codes to update when one was used. And having just 1 code that never expired would mean pirates would just send out their code with pirated copies Dial-a-pirate was a finicky paper thing that was made so it would be hard to copy with just a printer and thus make it difficult for pirates to spread with their copies. This is why you would see the "give us the Xth word online Y of the Zth page of the manual", because a full manual would be a waste of time and money photocopying. Back in those days it was about making it hard for someone to spread how to get past piracy checks when they give out their copied floppy disks of the game
My friend and I would share games and we would have to call each other for the answers to give me the 12th word on x page of the manual. If they were not home to answer the phone you were out of luck.
If I could still play games (lost my sight last year enough I can't play anymore) I would one hundred percent buy physicals just as I did a couple years ago. Nothing beats having something physical. Same for music. I will always order them from Amazon though or somewhere else online. Edit: I think that sim does look pretty close to you!
Some of those anti cheats should be released for the actual game as challenge mode. I would love to take on a game with a weapon that launches chickens at my opponent.

I recommend doing a pt 2 of this I really enjoyed it and maybe check the my singing monsters anti piracy methods it’s very interesting and a little creepy
Hey tuv! You forgot something in Batman Arkham asylum; random grapples that lead to nowhere would appear very often, and if the player was to tap the grapple button when this appeared, Batman would just grapple into nowhere for all eternity
16:27 to be fair, considering the controversy around ubisoft delisting of assassin's creed liberation so that even gamers who purchased it couldn't access it, there is more likely to be a push for physical copies of games or games that don't require any internet connection to play once downloaded
i remember when i first found out about spyro's antipiracy i told my mom and she got upset because in that moment she realised her version of spyro that she got when she was younger was pirated 💀 rip
thank u for putting so much efforts in ur vids for us
Who would have thought that devs actually had measures to stop piracy. I didn't know that!
You didnt??
No I didn't but my brother knew!
You didn't?..
@@SprinkledFox Yeah but my big bro knows.
id missed your content a lot. glad ur back!
(bdw, ur sims4 avatar does resemble u lol)
I litterally love buying physical copy’s of games. Also it’s so cool seeing a video on anti piracy I’ve loved these for the longest time it’s so interesting brother
I feel like that for batman arkham asylum you should have mentioned the famous response by a dev when someone talked about the anti piracy measure thinking it was a glitch on a gaming forum
"The problem you have encountered is a hook in the copy protection, to catch out people who try and download cracked versions of the game for free.
It's not a bug in the game's code, it's a bug in your moral code."
lmfaoooo
Here's the million dollar question:
Who the hell would pirate Amoung us?
Lol I have idk why
@@CODENAMEDARKLIFEtrees are free my guy
6:12 No Tuv they could not have just used a licence code, This was before the internet was large so they could not have a database of generated licence codes to update when one was used. And having just 1 code that never expired would mean pirates would just send out their code with pirated copies
Dial-a-pirate was a finicky paper thing that was made so it would be hard to copy with just a printer and thus make it difficult for pirates to spread with their copies.
🤓
ahh i missed you sm tuv! i hope youre feeling better
cant wait for more uploads man
The sims 4 “anti-piracy screen” is just a bug. Bought copies of the game had the same bug. It got patched after it was discovered.
5:30 joke was actually pretty funny though
Some of those anti cheats should be released for the actual game as challenge mode. I would love to take on a game with a weapon that launches chickens at my opponent.
Sims 4, and the sims francise in general, is the only game where I think pirating is acceptable.
Amazing video tuv! Love the new pfp too my guy!
Holy shit, UA-cam crashed at 2:28 mid scream and it scared my 1am half asleep self shitless.
