Hey Jonny Pink! I agree with you, much better on a full frame body, so that is how i will use it mostly. we have lots of reallu bright days, so the r7 may still be useful. I just hope I grt my copy b4 hel freezes over. Thanks care and keep them coming.
Thank you, thank you. For lower light, I will use the 600 F4 or even the 100-500. I will have this on the R5 for the trip up to Washington and the R7 will have the 600 F4 so that I am covered!! But overall, I do prefer it on the R5. And.... I LOVE the zoom. 🙏🤗💖
i was shooting with R5 and R6MKII simultaneously. And the RF 200-800. I just sold my R6MKII (which is a great camera, don't get me mistaken) and bought a R7. In my experience, reach is king and I have good results with the R7.
The R7 is still an amazing camera. Every time I pick it up, it hits me all over again just what a special body it is. I pulled it out when shooting hummingbirds in Arizona - I really just wanted to use the R5II but I picked up the R7..... and had trouble putting it down. Great choice!! 🙏💖🤗
@@JonnyPink65 After a few days I really love the combo. Good light, more open spaces=R7! After setting it up to my liking, great results. When subjects are closer and more shadows, like in a forest=R5. I am really happy with the combination right now. Take care🙏
@@NoDoSwLa That is AWESOME. I never really used the zoom until more recently so I will have to take it out and try it again. I have had many zooms over the years and almost always end up shooting them at full extension like a prime. I will have to go back out with this combo now that I "know how to zoom". Thank you for the info - I am really glad it is working for you. 💖🤗
Thank you, thank you! I am a purest at heart - I want to see the photo as it was taken - twigs, trash cans and what ever behind the subject. I do what I can to watch that but some times, you just want the cool shot. I also dont mind shooting down on my subjects either - I am OK with it!! 🙏💖🤗
Great video. What may lack in birds is never short on your whimsical injects. Love it. You always find a way to turn lemons into lemonada Jonny Pink! Carry on good sir! Stay warm.
The long term forecast for the period of time you are going to be here is for true winter weather, something we really haven't had. I have only worn my winter jacket twice, that will soon change. I am going to have to get the long johns out, I haven't needed them in several years. Great shots. I really love that gull. Your hummingbird images were great. Actually, just assume that all the images were great and I enjoyed all of them. 😂
Bahahaha - Thank you!!! Yeah, both James and I have been watching the forecast and your Instagram posts. I have two bags of just clothes. The larger one has my heavy hunting (I hunt with a lens) gear so that I will be warm and dry and all my heavy undergarments. I have a couple of pares of waterproof hunting boots, waterproof insulated gloves, and a couple of different lens covers so i can let one dry while using another. The big bag really has my heavy clothing. It will be an adventure and we are looking forward to it. 🙏🤗💖
@@realnikonlover6207 I have been watching the weather and calling the CalTrans hotline. I have changed my route a little and will have to miss Klamath Falls. I will try that in a couple weeks as a stand alone trip. The 97 right now is chains only when I checked at 3 am. SO...... change of plan to get out to Mount Vernon. Gotta roll with flow, change with the moment. LOL 💖🤗
Chris!!! On the R7, it works best in bright sun, but overall, I do prefer it on the R5. I am also looking forward to what Sigma comes out with or announces with specific RF lenses. You have the RF 100-500 and that is an AMAZING lens. Plus, you capture such AMAZING macro shots. 🙏🤗💖
The more I use it, the more it is just ..... OK. I love the zoom but in low light or under cloud cover, it is dismal as far as the focus. I was in Washington state under clouds and rain and used it for about 20 minutes before pulling out my 600 F4 with the 1.4 extender. No more zoom, but the focus was accurate. In bright light, it is fine. I have gone back to debating on returning it. I have a couple more days. But it does have an amazing zoom. 🙏💖🤗
Thank you, thank you!! I really do love the R7. I will be with me on my trip up to Washington. I will be shooting it with the 600 F4 and this lens...... well, those are the only two I am taking..... and both bodies!! Thank you, thank you for letting me share. 🙏🤗💖
Thank you, thank you. I think they are some of my favorite treasure to capture. I really like them with their eyes closed so if you notice, I put those in all the time. As silly as it seems, those are my favorites!!! 🙏🤗💖
No lens is perfect but once you learn how to maximise its performance…. Then you’ll get some amazing images for sure, awesome work once again John! Thanks for sharing your experiences!
Thank you, thank you Peter. The more i use it, the more I do like it. I really like the reach - and the ZOOM - but I do prefer it on the R5!!! It will be with me in Washington. 🙏💖🤗
Need, shmead!!! Life is short - live it as hard as you can. I do not need it either, but I wanted it. Necessary bills are paid and the other bills keep coming so adding this was no big deal LOL It does have have many advantages over the 100-400, 100-500 and the Sigma 150-600. It really is pretty awesome. Hopefully, Sigma will announce some RF glass in the near future that will also offer more options. 🙏🤗💖
I am enjoying it more and more even though you saw me get frustrated with it. LOL You will be surprised to see it shooting in Washington in the snow and rain!!! See you Friday night or Saturday morning. 🙏🤗💖
@@JonnyPink65 Shame guls and doves are so common. They get overlooked in God’s beautiful creative design. Doves’ blue eye lids and pink accents, as you’ve note. They can also be iridescent in the light at times and they are usually always in an affectionate pair. No pronoun problems with doves or any other of God’s creation. Keep shooting and sharing! Pigeons are also commonly beautiful.
As fast as any of the new Canon lenses. It does get a little lost when the background is busy, but most lenses do. It locks on fast though. I wish it had fcous limiting and ...... LOL - overall, it s a GREAT lens. 🙏💖🤗

Well done Jonny! I agree, this is a lens for R5, R6, R3. Better AF, lower ISO.
Still ok for R7 I guess.
Maybe I'll buy one on the next Christmas. 😄
