Minecraft - Tutorial: Water Spawner
Вставка
- Опубліковано 21 вер 2011
- Today I'm just showing off another idea I plan to incorporate into my possible survival map. Pushing the mobs into the water with pistons forces them to swim.
Monster spawners stop spawning mobs if there are 6 or more mobs of that type within a 17x17x9 area centered on the spawner. Placing the water spawner in water 3 or more blocks deep prevents this limiter because the mobs will always swim outside of that range on their own. This makes it possible for these water spawners to continue to spawn many many mobs if the player is within range of them.
The TNT self destruct feature is meant to keep things fun and fair. - Ігри
really nice video Etho my man. I know Guude and i are anxiously waiting for your first cake walk....i mean...adventure map.
Well hey there doubleO100
bubbles
Surely i would just swim down and block up the mob exit holes?
"One of these new fence-gate things." Oh my goodness, this was so long ago.
@dartemis7690 16 blocks in 3 dimensional space. Think of a 16 block radius sphere around the monster spawner (it is not a cube).
Wow.. It's been 3 years since I first saw this vid!!! That's crazy, as-specially to see ur progress. Nice work, ur the best minecrafter ever!! (Seriously!)
5 year old comment
Very cool Etho. I'm really looking forward to your adventure maps.
I like the nifty little things that you are building for the map. Very Cool!
Wow your making some nice map ideas as a fellow maper this is awesome :D
Very nice. First Hollypops, now this. Can't wait to see what else you do when you make an Adventure Map.
Why yes that is terrifying :D Moreso if there weren't TNT or glowstone (monsters issuing forth from the murky depths), and I don't think brick blocks look the part. A slowly increasing number of spawners sounds like someting integral to a difficultly arc. Awesome work Etho!
Etho your awesome I've been watching you for 3 years your a great you tuber!
I love you Etho - I love this design, notch needs to implement this type of spawner ::)
Can't wait for Etho's adventure map!!
@EthosLab I love these little adventure map tutorials. It's a nice change from mob grinding.
Awesome video/tutorial Etho!
I'm working on my map. This will make a fun addition. Thanks etho. :)
terrifying idea... have a player complete a puzzle while one or more of these sits close enough to spawn enemies hidden behind a wall. The spawned monsters get water funnelled into a room next to the puzzle room. The longer you take to complete the puzzle the more enemies you must face after!
That's a great spawner there. I imagine something like this placed near the entrance of a particular dungeon or temple to produce "guards" or something. Depending on the difficultly set for the map, and how quickly the mobs would spawn, this could be very challenging for players to deal with.
Awesome cant wait for the map etho!
Is ideas like those that made Minecraft one of the best games invented! And 'EthosLab' play it very well!
Keep the good work!
Etho, you are *the* evil genius of minecraft.
You should put a block ontop of the "convenient self-destruct" plate just so it isn't TOO easy. =D great trp love your vids!
cant wait till your map :D
This is ingenious! Gotta use it!
Etho you mad genius!
This is awesome! Though you know how you just have mnster spawners? maybe you could also use Keirshar's Practical SMP Monster trap AND monster Spawners,
as the Practical monster trap doesn't totally rely on how far away you are ;).
Just watching mobs float up from there is really creepy. Reminds me of the first zombie in Alone in the Dark, just kinda floating up from the cellar.
I will play every map you ever make :D
I love ur vids keep makin more
Thx loving it etho. I made it a search and destroy map with your help. Thx. :D
Don't listen to the people telling you that it is part of single player commands. It was a feature of beta 1.8 where when you were in creative mode you could hit a mob from a huge distance. They removed it in minecraft 1.0.
i think that if you do make an adventure map, then you should use the self destruct tnt thing, but also hide a chest inside with really great goodies, so that if the player does manage to get in without use of the self destruct button then they get a tasty reward (if the destruct button was used, then the chest and treasure would be destroyed).
Those new fence gates are a million times easier to use for mob manipulation stuff than signposts.
It was a creative mode feature in early renditions of the creative mode.
Im 100% sure Ehto's gonna make his adventure map, and that pressure plate aint gonna be a shutdown feature... :D
@dracius0keep That's because of a recent update (1.1 I think) that makes fence gates controllable by redstone (Etho covers it in one of his LP episodes). This video was made in 1.8.1
This is beautiful.
very nice man!! glad to see you using creative mode
Wow it's been 9 years
yeah you can TNT it.. or you can block the holes with blocks. I know this is for adventure maps, where block placing is against the rules, but until adventure mode is implemented, cheatproof designs do have a place.
@tombaalhuis1 if you use risugumi's spawner gui you can change what the spawner spawns. very helpful
@MrAlexerz in that case you can just block the holes. Dive from afar, swim underwater, plug a hole, rince repeat. Mobs won't be able to get you cause they have to swim up.
@jakesterlicious Actualy in some current Adventure maps you are allowed to break/place blocks - the Super Hostile series being obvious examples.
And yes, plugging up the holes would be one way of dealing with this - though it'd take longer than just htting the pressure plate.
You are like the Bob Ross of minecraft.
You know what, instead of allowing you to detonate the device, the pressure pad should be above a block of mcedited sand and then above a drop to bedrock with something to stop the water, so you just fall to your death. I like that idea better. More devious.
With single player commands. Look for that on minecraft forums when you find it look for reach distance in the post.
@Ethoslab you're a genius
i know what would be cool. at the start it was 3 preassure plates. one for hard, normal and easy. if you go on the easy 3 of the holes is closed by pistons. so it will be like that the less difficulty the less they spawn. what do you think about it? also i loved the spawner you made
Etho! You should get the 1.9 pre-release and think of ways to build a efficient sentry! :O
I expect your adventure map to be extremely difficult, but crafty, and doable.
Of course I expect any and all clay deposits on your map to be a horrifying trap.
Seems it would be fairly easy to just plug up the holes, unless you're planning on making the type of map where the player can't place blocks.
You gotta a hell of a long range sword there.
@laxbro62 most people who make survival/adventure maps use a map editor, or at least I think most do, so you could easily place a mob spawner
@Darkness4910 You cannot choose which mob they spawn at the moment. All spawners will spawn pigs if a player places them. To do what you suggest, use a program called "MCEdit" to place the spawners. Double-click on them and then you get a menu for the mob you want it to spawn.
Hope this helps.
In Beta 1.8, mobs used to still attack while you were still in Creative mode - so as a way to defend yourself, they added an extended attack feature where you could hit things from further away. Voila.
No single-player commands, just Beta 1.8.
Etho I just had a great idea for these basically make a giant room filled with water except for a platform in the center with a diamondblock the platform is connected to the entrance by a bridge when the player mines the block it activates a bud switch which closes the entrance with a hidden piston door and sets of tnt hidden in the bridge then the mobs start coming out of the water and the player has to find four levers around the room when he does the spawners self destruct and an exit opens
Actually, in the early creative mode versions you could punch mobs from very far away in vanilla Minecraft
@j7j78 it's a stone pressure plate, you can't do that on a stone one, only wooden pressure plates :)
Thanks UA-cam for recommending me this video
@BryanKern99 If you dont put torches, the might spawn in the darkness. dont know if it'll work, but there is a mod that lets you place mob spawners and choose which mob spawns
It is a command named /reach in a type of single player commands
Ethos, why are you so unbelievably smart? :)
oh my god that made me laugh more than it should have.
Hey Ethos I making a puzzle map and I might include this in it and give you credit at the end of the map is that ok?
lol the creepers are like missiles being fired out a submarine
yes, but you don't need fence gates, MCedit, download it to get custom spawners, the green wool is just representative.
actually my new favourite way to fight mobs is in water. they constantly float, while i go underneath them and hit them.
I was wondering where today's episode was :)
you would want to use signs to fix the fences from closing after a redstone update in 1.2.5!
Are you gonnaplay your adventure map and put videos up of it
on youtube?
@MrSilver8000 Added bonus to this is that any mobs caught in there are insta-killed when the TNT is activated.
You know, the players could turn this back on you. Would make one hell of a substitute for a 'dark room' for making a mob grinder...
i love you etho!
That is one long sword... Creepers stand no change :/ Im going toplay your adventure map as soon as it comes out :DD
Love it!
No. Survival is 5 block reach, creative is further. In early versions of Creative mode, you could hit mobs from hundreds of blocks away, but not place or break blocks more than 4 blocks away.
i have an idea maybe hook up a redstone up to all the fence gates which i see thats possible and connect that to a lever and you can hide the lever in the water under a block somewhere and then the hit the lever it shuts the fence gates and then the mobs cant get out!
you should make a tutorial of your render settings and how you record =]
I feel powerful because I made this already (the pressure plate idea) . Tho using this method is more space efficient .
You´re a genius.
I just got an idea. With some manipulation of this concept I can make a mob farm in the smp server that I play on.
I have a question Etho. If/when you do your adventure map, will it be very difficult like Vech's or will it be more laid back, more explore and find stuff in dark corners.
if you ever do make a map you have to use EVERYTHING you ever built into it :3 even the light sensors for only night arenas or something
Wow, with TNT hid in a hard place, this should be in Vech's Super Hostile series.
@ucasknightr Frankly, I'm extremely excited for Etho to be developing/experimenting with creative mode. This just means he is going to kick so much more ass! :D
@killerpoo98 no, open fencegates has no collision mask what so ever, just like signs.
@smartasshater Its a stone pressure plate, It can't be triggered by an item. Wooden ones do though ;)
i love this!
Ok. Thanks for the answer!
@scorpweb assuming you can reach it before the mobs can get to you (or if you have blocks to begin with)
When you make your map you should have rooms that delay the player near the spawner so that they cannot just rush it.
@GamersToPone the king of Super Hostile maps
@Delavonboy12 Yes, any block that can conduct redstone is good for a mob to spawn on.
Actually changing the reach with SPC only changes how far you can place and destroy blocks, not attack mobs.
awesome, now all you have to do is incorporate this so they are coming out of walls.
@lufifra the point of adventure maps is that you can't place or destroy blocks ;P
This can be easily attacked by throwing down items, because they activate the pressure plate. No need to swim down.
if your going through with making this map i cant wait ! :D
AMAZING!
