Many thanks for your pump repair video's. My Miele CVA 620 has not been used for a few years and displayed the usual 'expel air' and a very noisy pump. Managed to extract the pump (quite difficult!) stripped down according to the video and I'm now enjoying my first cup of coffee for a long time. Great of you to share your knolwedge Milen.

Hello, thanks for you video. I have a coffee maker with low pressure. Firstly I clean all lines with (vinagre), secondly clear air with not improve pressure. And finally I checked the pump. It was working but I also change plastic ball by another (metallic bike ball). The pump, the oring was ok. Then try again to prepare coffee and not got to improve the pressure. If you have any idea? Thanks a lot. Kind regards

Excellent video! Thank you for making it. I just purchased an espresso machine that had been in storage for years. The pump would not prime. I used a plastic syringe full of water, to force water through those check valves, by removing the filter from the water supply hose, and putting the syringe onto the hose. (I got the plastic syringe from a local drug store by asking them if they had syringes for giving pets medicine. This kind of syringe has no needle.) After the pump was force primed, it worked, but the flow was very low. I removed the pump, and took it apart as you show here. I found that small 9mm x 5mm x 2mm o-ring was hard as a rock. I replaced it with one from the plumbing department in the local hardware store, and now the pump delivers a lot of water! Saved myself $45.

apologies if this is a silly question but can I test an ulka NME type 3 (120V-60hz, 16W) pump by plugging a cable into a 110V wall outlet and connecting the leads to the motor? Is that a valid test?

    Hello Friend.
I have seen your videos, the videos are great and clear to understand. Thank you very much for the investment in the information you give us customers.
I would like to ask, if it is allowed to change the water pump to a more powerful pump in the Saco Royal coffee machine? There is an existing 48 watt pump, and I am thinking of changing to a 64 watt pump.
I ordered a 48 watt pump from Ali Express and it doesn't have enough power...
Maybe I have another mistake. I will ask for your opinion..
    Thank you very much.
    With regards and admiration,
    Herzl

Nice video! Thank's for sharing all this informations. It's very helpful. I have Lavazza EP Mini coffee machine, but there is an EP4GW in it which does not have this little ball valve, there is a plastic piece inserted to the hole. It's making some strange noise during operation and in the same time the coffee flow drops. Do you have any idea? Can the rubber sealing cause this problem? It's a pretty new machine, only 9 months old.

Milen, thank you for all of these videos. I have a Gaggia Synchrony. Sometimes it brews, sometimes it doesn't. I always get steam or water from the steam wand. Sometimes I go to brew a cup of coffee, it grinds the coffee, pump comes on for a second or two, then you only hear a quiet hum for about 10 seconds then it quits and the red light starts flashing. Think it's my pump?

I get water but only for a bit and it stops. if i don't have coffee pushed into the portafilter all the water comes out no problem. So it's definitely water pressure. So i expect it's either the internal spring, internal ball or most probably the small O-ring. I will also check the mushroom like valve with the smaller spring first. Thank you. I tried descaling twice and it didn't fix the problem. I wonder where I can order parts for this. It is a Delongi Dedica that i have used an incredible amount over a 5+ year period.

My coffee machine uses an Eaton brand vibration pump, model CP3A, 230V 65W. The machine has not been used for years and, when I activate the pump switch when the machine is hot and ready to pump, there is no vibration or noise at all. Any suggestions for home repair? Could it be that the pump piston is seized, or that some triggering circuit on the boiler is not activating the secondary wires into the pump. The pump ON switch tested OK for continuity with my multimeter. I'd rather repair it myself, and save on the cost of a new pump. Ian, Australia

Ian Hill. Typically most standard pumps are relatively cheap, unless your machine uses customized pump, then you will have to order it from the machine supplier. For me, I would rather replace the pump so that it can last longer

mine was pumping but with very low pressure, I took it apart but there is NO SMALL BALL?? Also the plastic X thing does not unscrew or pull out, it is the same Ulka Italian pump but with plastic instead of brass, everything else looks good, springs and rubbers are like new.

I have an old Lattissima Touch - EN550R - that has stopped producing steam as no heat occurs to suck the milk from the plastic tube of the rcs container. I can still make an espresso but not a cappuccino! Looking at your brilliant videos, I think it might be a pump issue or the solenoid perhaps? I just get the two buttons permanently flashing on the right. Descaling works ok but water always comes out cold on the right side of the machine. A technician would know which part needed replacing.... I would love to engage in a tech chat with you Milen, but this is my only current way of reaching you! Can anyone advise me what part might need replacing? I would be grateful for any help, thank you.

Hi problem can be electrical or mechanical or a combination of both.
If it is electric, check the heating element, the soienoid, thermal sensors or some cable. Mechanical problems are most often a clogged folded hose or tube or a seal that is worn.
To make it easier to track systems download from google Lattissima Touch EN550R parts diagram

Excellent video. However, it seems impossible to actually find the individual replacement parts. I guess your best bet is to try to find a used pump and salvage parts? The small ball seems to be the issue on my end, but that's likely worn on most used pumps, therefore I'll have to buy new anyway.

Excellent video. After my 15-month-old Miele DGC 6765 steam oven gave an F10 error, Reddit or Houzz sent me to this video. Inside the Miele's very similar vibratory pump, model ARS MPP2.02.041.3/ST/S 208-240V, I found a broken .25"x.75" spring which I was able to replace with a stainless steel spring from amazon in a 400pc variety pack for $16. Problem solved thank you. Much better and quicker than the extortionate price Miele would charge to repair my just-out-of-warranty and very-expensive-to-begin-with oven. Now I'll be ready if and when it happens again.

I got hopeful when i saw this video but i still can't get it to work. All mechanics look fine, i get a little bit of screwdriver vibration too but not sure if it's enough. Is the diode located in the plastic housing with the coil or is it found on the control board? My pump makes a tiny sound, not really loud enough, if i unscrew the plastic part a little the noise becomes louder but still no action. I was wondering if the diode was half blown? I'm getting 800 ohms in one direction and nothing passing in the other direction across the coil so i guess the diode is inside. Can i fit an external diode in series also? If i wire my other pump in reverse direction it does not work, i have two identical pumps in 2 separate machines both pumps are identical but one works.
I've put the other back together now, the other one was being fired by the control board from the machine with the broken pump so the controller is ok.
The only other thing i was wondering are about the metal rings and the nylon ring that sits just inside the coil and surrounds the interior mechanism. These are still and not moving freely, the nylon piece is ok but the metal rings on either side are slightly corroded. Should i need to sand those down and perhaps oil or grease them? |
Bit lost here. Unless i take the other pump out and start swapping parts till i find the culprit piece.
I think i'm just going to order another and keep that one for spares. I've been meaning to fix this smoke machine for several years now.

Can't believe that everyone in the comments now have their pumps working and i'm still struggling. I even had it completely to bits before watching this video apart from the mushroom valve but i've now tested that from the back. The pump even worked for me once for the 1st time in years just before i had it apart so i thought this would be an easy fix. It's baffled me for now unless it's those corroded outer rings but as far as i can see they don't need to move, they just seem to strengthen the eddy currents from the coil to the piston.

There may be a problem with a clogged hose, a malfunctioning pump or valve. Watch my video can help ua-cam.com/video/MevXIJX7SLA/v-deo.html

Thank you so much. This helped me find a stuck rubber valve.
