Back in the mid 90s a BNSF train had a massive derailment in Stratford, Missouri, right along I44. And it happened to be loaded with mostly playboy magazines. A few car mags but a whole train car off playboy... People stole those like they were starving. A trooper told me they decided to just let people haul of the mess basically. Took about a week and the mags were gone. It was quite the event it was.
just what i always wanted.hide 'em ( all 1,442 ) where my old lady won't find them. sounds like a cheap litter clean up. beavers hanging on the trees and bushes and easy to spot. lmao
@roadmaster720 I never figured out why a guy needed a pickup load. People originally were trying to sell them at work and around. Then they just gave them away. Several claimed they used them to light the wood stove. Back before the internet little things like that were big fun.
Wow, I live between Thomaston and Barnesville and this is the first I’ve heard of this. Cater-Parrot trains normally run Tuesday and Thursday so the derailment and/or the holiday must have changed this. The paper may have been for Quad Graphics, a customer CPR serves in The Rock, Georgia.
Well, that consist certainly wiped out! The customer will not accept a shipment of damaged paper: it will all likely go back to the mill to be recycled. A crappy situation all around! 😂
@ After some consideration I believe I am wrong. Knowing insurance companies, the insurer will write off the cargo and insist it be taken straight to a landfill. They are seldom interested in salvaging anything, other than car or truck wrecks.
Those giant paper rolls, were probably Newsprint, that are used in highspeed presses, for newspapers! Those presses are nowadays, rigged for 4 or 5 color outputs, and are generally computer driven! They are as complicated as any locomotive, but usually not seen,by the public! Anyway,a side note,on an NS derailment! Thank you for your attention! Thank you 😇 😊!
So i’m guessing he’s going to wait a few months then, I can wait. I’m just thankful that it was just cars that fell and not locomotives where the crew could’ve gotten hurt
Wow! That is going to take some time to clean up. Thank you for capturing this video of the derailment. Please keep us informed if you find any more information about htis derailment. (Posted on 5 January2025 at 1200 CST.)
I live just a couple of miles from here & view trains in Milner, Barnesville, Forsyth, & Jackson . I may have passed by you at some point during this event . It’s back open with a very slow speed limit . Thanks for the video !
@, I haven’t heard what it is from a dispatcher on the scanner, but the train that I’ve viewed this morning was crawling at what I would guess to be about 10 mph .
Yes, I saw it that as I live in the Corvallis areaI think it would make an interesting video, I think the bridge collapsed because of it being on fire a few years ago
ALL railroads have a safety problem... on average there's at least 3 derailments per day across the US... and that's just the ones the railroads are honest enough to report
That must have been a pretty violent derailment for all of that paper to have come out of the cars, unless the derailment cleanup crew pulled it out. My bet is that the cause will be a track defect.
speaking of derailments. I still can't believe no video footage was captured of the 150MPH runaway Iron ore train back in 2023. No on board. No track side signal camera. Nothing.
Not sure what mill this paper came from, but I hope it's better than the newsprint that comes out of Mississippi. I'd rather run Canadian paper than the rolls I've had from Mississippi....
a couple years ago, there was a derailment in W PA, I went by a year later, and the cars were still along side the tracks, with their automobile frame (pickup truck?) loads still inside!
@@doxielain2231 I honestly do not know, but if I had to guess from some of the rail that I’ve seen …..it would be missing & loose spikes, along with, poor maintenance . I have witnessed sections of rail on this line that were more than 10 feet or longer without anything securing it to the ties . As each car would pass, the rail would rise off of the ties .
Those huge paper rolls likes like it was from the paper mill in my hometown they make diapers, cigarette filters, different types of cardboard, surgical masks and all types of paper that you can write on just to name a few of the uses of cellular paper !!!
Just your average day on Norfolk southern. Great video V12!

Crew reported as appearing a bit flushed!!

I remember a time when NS was rarely in the news for derailments. It was CSX that I would hear about often.
I heard that NS was desperate to become number 1 at something, or maybe it was anything.
Could you cover the bridge collapsing on that train in Oregon?
It's too big to cover!
So i’m guessing he’s going to wait a few months then, I can wait. I’m just thankful that it was just cars that fell and not locomotives where the crew could’ve gotten hurt

I think that would be a good video to do

A bridge collapsed in Corvallis, OR over the weekend (I lived in the area for a small time). Please check that one out.

I love watching your videos!
Keep this good work up i love it and its amazing with you explaining what happened and the drone views are the best❤
The Weight of these Massive Rolls will Kill you. The Equipment used to Move these indoors is as Solid as it gets. 🤔👍
I saw one that came loose and broke out of the back of a semi trailer and crushed the hood of a car behind it.
At Walmart: "Where is our Giant Toilet Paper, it's haven't arrived!!
I loveyour videos!
Thanks for watching for these railroad mishaps. I'll be interested in seeing the FRA and NTSB (maybe) reports.
They can just block roads with their equipment with no warning signs or flaggers. Highways always bail out railroads.
Its called newsprint which is used in newspaper printing presses.
What a mess 😭 . Thanks
Great video. Most likely track alignment failed.
thanks
Giant toliet papers for Texas
We do have many paper production plans here
texas is a ass-wipe state and needs that toilet paper. everything is always bigger in texas.
Norfolk Southern seen to have trains on the ground regularly.
Very dangerous being near an excavator being loaded. Please leave lots of room for heavy equipment and be safe.
Does NS have a safety problem? seems they had had a number of derailment in the last few months
ALL railroads have a safety problem...

Great-2025 is here and we have our first derailment (ALREADY!?!?)
When u realise this might be the first derailment of this year
Nope, already been others this year.

First derailment of the year
There have been so many costly derailments!
Average 3 per day in America.

Those rolls are used to make food packaging.
It probably took them a long time to make all those rolls. That sucks.
That is 35 miles away from my house.
Well like they say about TEXAS EVERY THING IS BIGGER THIER ! WAS THAT KING CONGS T P ? 😅
Hate to sound stupid, but what is that orange car with the really long nose thing doing? How does that work?
Wow That Was a Derailment Happening?
Not sure what mill this paper came from, but I hope it's better than the newsprint that comes out of Mississippi. I'd rather run Canadian paper than the rolls I've had from Mississippi....

Anyone know why it derailed?

lucky it's not toxic chemicals being burned on purpose, setting off a cloud of cancer particles, then trying cover it up by saying everything is fine.
