In this video (just under 7 mins) I use the Spatial Analyst extension to create a Slope (measurement of steepness) Raster from a SRTM TIFF and then an Aspect Raster to show direction of slope.
See the next video (#98) which follows on with the analysis as it shows how to extract the slope raster data into some start and end points derived from a railway network.

Thanks for the video. As you told us we can extract Aspect map in ArcGIS Pro which has 9-10 classes in this way. I need to extract the aspect map but in 5 classes that the classes are P(flat), N, E, S, W in ArcGIS. Could you please tell me how can I extract Aspect map in ArcGIS which this 5 classes of the map automatically produce by ArcGIS because when I change the number of classes of the aspect map that I have Unfortunately the label of classes change to some numbers that I can not recognize which class or which range is showing W or which class or which range is N And so on ? Thanks for your guidance.

I've been instructed to find the steepest slope in the area of a dam. I'm using ArcGIS Pro but have instructions from ArcMap.
My instructions say to use the identify tool (no longer available in Pro) to analyze all layers (I have one hillshade, one slope, and an aspect layer) for the steepest slope. I am to give the degrees and aspect of that slope, if I can find it. How can I query for a question like that?

Hi - You need the Spatial Analyst extension enabled. This will let you calculate the steepest slope relatively easily. There is always QGIS of course... ;)

So if i wanted to find areas on the map with slope from 0-20 percent that were north facing, one way to do that would be to only turn on the value colors assigned to those two conditions? Or would some sort of location query be more appropriate ?

Hi Fred - you can extract the information with an attribute query now that the slope/aspect has been generated by Spatial Analyst

Yes...there will be values in the TIFF and using raster statistics will give you the overview of all those numbers available.
