Paul Anka was only 23 years old here. He was very mature, composed, polished and charming for his age. He was a songwriter so words were his bag, baby.
Still is
He was 22...DOB: 7-30-41.
Now he’s 80! Wow!
Paul Anka a great singer from my country of Canada 🇨🇦. He was very mature for his age at 23. Wish I was that polished at his age
Giselle was Canadian too.
I'm just watching this because of Paul 🥰🥰😭👑
Me too. He's great. Very smart guy.
In many ways Paul Anka: international icon!
I think Paul Anka, Peter Lawford and Tony Randall are the three best male Password players of their era. For the women, I'd choose Betty White, Elizabeth Montgomery and Carol Burnett. The thing about Paul Anka is that he's a songwriter; words are his life. No wonder he's so good at Password.
wkyken so right
@Christopher Bingham betsy was a fine player, but she was a notorious gesticulator. The two episodes i watched with Hackett he did good, but I've watched 4 episodes with Paul, and he was simply on a different level.
In addition to being a wordsmith, Paul was young enough to still understand a lot of the most modern references but also knowledgeable enough to be able to give classical clues. So he could tailor his clues and interpret his guesses depending if his partner was younger or older. Playing with a foot in two worlds. Unlike someone too old or too young.
Of the four episodes i watched i think he didn't get the lighting round twice. Out of like 12 chances. That's gotta be the show record.
@Christopher Bingham Buddy Hackett and Arlene Francis.
A little random information l just found out about very recently. Jason Bateman is happily married to Paul Anka’s daughter. 🦋
Tony Perkins too!!
I wish Paul Anka had more guesting in Password Show. He was the best and my favorite player! Can someone link me all Paul guesting shows
Rich Locke i need it too

PAUL: I'm glad you won dear! THAT HIT ME HARD
I wonder if they ever talked to old password players for their memories of the show. DELIGHTFUL to watch Paul Anka, he was smart, not just an empty headed singer.
The way he talked omg🥵
🦚 Maureen , what a lucky 🍀 girl !!! Her heart 💜 must have been pounding to have Paul Anka staring in her eyes ! Blessings from California. 🦊
He should have used book as a clue for shelf.
She looks so familiar. I wonder if she was the gal he serenaded at Freedomland in 1962 as shown in the mini-documentary “Lonely Boy”…
Thank you for posting these wonderful episodes. I've never been a big Paul Anka "fan" per se, but he is absolutely terrific on "Password". I am a fan now!
Me either, but the way methodically goes through the Lightning Round.... well, only a wordsmith like a poet or a song writer could do that, I would think. Uncanny.
And actually, he's also very good on What's my Line. Again, he asks his yes/no questions in a very methodical way.
Yeah - he's clearly a smart guy in many ways.
If Paul looked at me with that intense glare I would have melted into a puddle 😍☺
I I know , me too, yikes!
Same! I would've died and kissed him
Same here; this was before my time.
Didn't realize Paul Anka was so handsome.
Paul Anka met Justin Beiber and joked with him about hair loss. He told Beiber enjoy your hair because in 30 years you will have less, if any. 😂😂
And what did Justin say to Paul?
We're all waiting with baited breath for an answer

Giselle Mackenzie was so talented! She was a great pianist, violinist and vocalist!
Oh , thanks for sharing this information ! Sorry I am replying late ⏰. Blessings from California. 🌺
One of the great talents of popular music and a lovely person.
On UA-cam there is an episode of "This Is Your Life" feature Giselle MacKenzie...❤
I think Paul was a little fond of that high school senior! they were so cute
1963 Password! Now it's 2020 and password still Wow Paul anka my baby boy!
The monster mash is still a graveyard smash!!!!
Damn his eyes, Paul 😮
Maureen’s thoughts: “You’ve killed me, sir!”
Love Paul Anka 💋💋💋❣️❣️❣️❣️😍😍😍😍
I can imagine that when Ludden 1st heard Monster Mash on the radio a couple years later… He was painfully reminded of this moment (or more likely he and Betty laughed over it:-)
Paul Anka it very nice
Paul anka very nice in show
He playing Password very well in show
Love him
Giselle MacKenzie was a brilliant violinist as well as a very talented vocal artist
She was also a very accomplished pianist, too!
@@randysills4418 i did not know that. Thanks for pointing that out to me!
Paul Anka's hair gives him the Werewolf look. Gotta admit he seems psychic...
Maybe. But he was married there. He married in February 1963 in Paris to an 18 year old model.
@@shadowgirl8038 Not sure what you're getting at - are there age limits for Werewolves getting married? Or are you saying he psychically persuaded his wife to marry him? Or Werewolves can't marry? He was only 21 when he got married and was 22 when this was recorded.
@jonahansen Hahahahaha..😆😅 my apologies.. I replied to your comment by mistake. It was meant for someone else in this thread, who commented that they thought Paul was attracted to Maureen. (Which I didnt see that at all). So i was pointing out that he was married here.. I will delete my mistaken reply to your comment, after you have had time to read this. ... And yes he had the werewolf look, and maybe psychic too. 🔮 😊
Paul Anka being a Jedi long before George Lucas created the Jedi Order.
Two Canadians on the same show--PRICELESS.
Age is a curse Paul was and is so successful his voice was so SOFT AND LOWWW age is a curse I wish we had a time machine so BAD. the way he got exited when he guested right. He was good at this game too.he took it seriously and worked together AND HE WAS SO FOCUSED. he was so calm too :). Paul thought through his questions and clues. He played the game fairly and he was so happy when he actually figured out the password. Paul really is a fine young man :)
Yes, age is definitely a curse...
Me encanto SIEMPRE PAUL ,HERMOSO
That's funny, I'm well into my 50s and am VERY familiar with the song "Monster Mash," but I did not know it was a dance. I thought she was referring to the song ... but come to think of it, it probably didn't come out till sometime in the mid to late 60s!
Never cared much for Paul Anka's music, but he was a genius at Password. Much respect.
He's too old to ever heard of the
"Monster Mash" hahaha, different times
Si se pudiera regresar a esosaños. Buen programa
We definitely need more Paul Ankas NOW!!! The closest thing I can think of is the now 16-year-old Grace VanderWall!! She is morally in good shape, intelligent, clever, funny yet sets the best example for young people I can think of as regards any performer of her type these days. If you don't know who she is, you will come back to this comment hopefully and thank me once I've helped you discover her :-)
Paul Anna very good
What I would give for Paul Anka to look at me like that 🥵
😂

Giselle MacKenzie was one of THE MOST TALENTED persons to grace the Entertainment world. She was class all the way, played the violin, spoke multiple languages, a great, great vocalist: "Hard to Get," was a monster hit for her. Please don't undersell Giselle on this show. Total class.
Never heard of her but will check her out. Thanks
And please don't forget that she was a fabulous pianist too!
@@randysills4418 and Bing Bing fan, et al, yes my Mum told me about Gisele McKenzie years ago. And I believe she was a half-sister to the equally respected Alex Trébec. Now I'll look up all Giselle's other talents!
15:56 is so cute🥺
Paul Anka - is so smart.
He’s a songwriter; words are his bag baby!
He probably reads a lot of books and probably did growing up.
They've used Explorer before.... and even THEN I thought they'd say Columbus!
go paul
All Canadian (celebrity) Password!
BRUH I WAS LITERALLY THINKING BEAT WHEN PAUL SAID BEATING AHHHHHHHH
I’m 14 but I wish I was born in the 1960 I would have had a CHANCCCCE
Also with car. I’m convinced he read my mind. Don’t ask me how I know, I just know.
*Little did Anka (nor any other 'Teen Idol') have any idea 'what was coming' in four-months from this show's air-date...Feb, 9th., 1964*

Yep, and the majority of American male and female pop singers were suddenly considered old fashioned and uncool.
It's so much fun and I'm gonna play this game with my friends everyday from now.
We've (us in the United States) been playing Password since the 1950's. You have a lot of catching up to do.
We had the home game when I was a kid. I was born in 1954. I am not sure if you can still buy one. 🦉
*every day
@@zyxw2024 we had lots of games that we used to play as kids which you wouldn't know. Now, I'm a huge indoor games' geek and play at least one new game every week. Everyone on the planet has got a lot to catch up to in that sense. Cheers!
@@marycook1644 You're elder than my father! 😁 Glad to meet you.
Whenever I don't find a game, I try finding print and play versions online, tweak them a bit, and send the designs to the printing press who get me a copy that's almost close to the original ones. Certainly for my personal use, not for the business. A hobby that I recently picked.
Giselle Mackenzie, the only Password celebrity I never heard of and never saw on anything else, no disrespect intended
Hi Joe Ambrose,
Giselle Mackenzie was an elegant singer and very popular back in her day. I think she was also half-sister to Alex Trebek of "Jeopardy" fame :)
@@aileen694 Thanks for the info, much obliged
Easy watching on my computer almost 60 years in the future (!) But for "Storm" in the lightning round I would have said "Tempest"… And I think she had time if she had quickly said thunder… Typhoon… Hurricane and what have you...
Giselle didn’t help her partner by using (obscure) clues for “Break” instead of “Brake”, which was what was on the card. Paul had already set the trend by sticking to the actual word, and Giselle stuck to her definition thereby muddying the waters. Yes, words can be redefined by using an alternate spelling but this is oftentimes a ploy that is applied in tandem with the opposing team, avoiding confusion for the contestants trying to guess the word.
We enjoyed Giselle MacKenzie every week on "Your Hit Parade", back in the '50s.
I will be born in 4 days!
🐻 How fun for your family and friends !! Blessings for a continued lovely life !! From California. 🐣
Imagine that! A psychic fetus!

I liked the original Password where they had more chances to get word than Password Plus or Super Password where one only had 5 chances to build clues rather than 10 chances! Loved the lightening rounds better, too.
This Password was the best of them all !!!
Giselle looked like she was upset about something. Maybe an attack of nerves?
14:15 if only Dora the explorer exist back then ,they will get it easily
Men in the audience wearing coats and ties. A different time.
And I bet all the women wore dresses or skirts.
Although I'm every bit as old as these shows, I have never been to a wedding where confetti want thrown, I've only seen rice being thrown 😮
Paul's first partner Terri has the same job as my daughter
Weird he begins Pauls intro with actor. I can't name one Anka film
He's been in lots of films and tv shows.
Girls Town, The Private Lives of Adam and Eve, Look In Any Window, The Longest Day…
15:15; his facial expression is freaking priceless!
Paul’s last partner was crushing on him big time. You could tell he was her favorite singer.
Paul Anka resembles Scott Baio SOME in looks and SOME in his voice.
I think it's more Scott resembles Paul, since Paul is senior to Scott.
They should have let the winner play again.
So funny
🦉 Damn ! I was shocked when Paul gave the clue soup 🍜 for alphabet after the first clue was letters !! 🐻
The high school girl too bad😂
Would anyone please tell me which was the year, this episode was telecasted?
Sai Darahaas Ayyangalam it's on the title 🍂
74 days before JFK was assassinated in "1963". Oh how I remember that day. :(
And we still know monster mash in 2024! Anyone watching in 2024?
Love how allen doesn't realize he gives out clues
Y
I would actually think "Beating" would be a good 1st clue for "Heart." The way to do it is very subtly look at the center of the chest of the contestant (very subtly) and kind of with a little shrug say "Beatinggg?...." as though you are waiting for the next word. With any halfway intelligent contestant, I think they should probably get it. Of course after "Organ" and then "Beating?"... it really is almost scary how that 2nd contestant didn't get it (D'oh!).
I was just plain stupid my senior year in high school
Lmao my name is Giselle!!!!!!
Isn't that sweet.
"Neat" - "kempt." Has this guy ever watched the show before?
AGE ISS A CURSEEEE!!!
I think Allen Ludden had some hearing loss...
N
Paul anka should have kept his old nose
That girl with Paul Anka has already agreed for a baby🤣
Which girl?
Giselle Mackenzie not the sharpest player...
"Disintegrate" for "brake"? Horrible clue even if it is allowed.
They reuse so many words. This is like the third time for alphabet.
