Johnny never forgot growing up dirt poor, his bad drug addiction, going to jail few times and being held down. He overcame with the help of his wife, June Carter and his return to religion, which worked for him. So, he never judged others but held out his hand. Also, that video I think you are talking about with all of the random stars in it (God will cut you down) was made as a tribute years after he died. That shows how diverse his fans were. He wasn't just another country singer, he's an American icon.
I SAW JOHNNY IN PERSON IN 1969 ON MY 11 BIRTHDAY WITH MY GRANDMA. GOT TOO MEET HIM BACK STAGE . GOT A BIG HUG AND A KISS ON MY CHEEK. IT WAS ONE OF THE BEST DAYS OF MY LIFE . HE WAS AWESOME THE NEXT YEAR MY GRANDMA DIED.BUT I WILL ALWAYS HAVE THAT MEMORY. THANK YOU
Johnny knew the song, "The Man In Black" was needed to be written. This was why it took a week for this to happen. He didn't want the spotlight on him. He only wanted the spotlight on the people in need. This was Johnny Cash. Rest in peace Johnny. We love you.
There is alot of people who have alot of respect for Johnny Cash. He was loved by millions. I wanted you to know what Johnny Cash did for my hometown. I lived in a small city in North Georgia. Believe it or not,. Johnny Cash got word that our high school needed a new football stadium. They came to my hometown( La Fayette, Ga. and put on a charity concert to build us a new stadium). We was shocked, the concert made enough to get the stadium built. Johnny Cash will always have a special place in our hearts. He had a very big heart. June Carter Cash( his wife also came to the event to sing with him. Rest In Peace Johnny.
Though I will say, Hank did some crazy fucking key changes in that song. I saw that live before he died. Anyway, here’s his version. I still prefer Cash but got a special love for Hank ❤️ ua-cam.com/video/jet7Ue743Do/v-deo.html
This is why I love music like this, and reaction channels like yours. This isn't your normal kind of music, but with the kind of message in this song, you showed some real respect for the man. Music like this does more to bring different people and different generations together, and respect to you for giving it a listen.
I love that you're reacting to a variety of his songs; everyone mostly just does Hurt, and leaves it at that. But he had so many sides. I strongly recommend "When the Man Comes Around," for yet another side of him, a much more bad-ass side. I like your reaction!
I just checked before I ran my mouth - Johnny Cash is wearing black in the Hurt video. He always wore black. He was known as "the man in black" from when I was a child in the 60s. I think the only place I saw him depicted in something other than black was in that movie Walk The Line when he was young. He started only wearing black when he was a little bit older.
Great reaction Doc Rich. and you have no idea how happy you made me, to see you, & the younger generation, discover the wonder, that is Johnny Cash!!! My parents loved his music, so I grew up listening to him, and have a great deal of respect for how he always told a story in his music, and a very caring person, for all mankind, especially those one who may be suffering.....I do not have a lot of money, and struggle financially at times, yet if I have a little extra, I am always handing some out, that I see may look like they may need it.......So the sad message in this, is that we are more likely to receive help from someone who doesn't have much, and not from the rich, and that is probably why they stay rich 😥
Johnny an underrated long time civil rights activist. He once cut an entire album for Native American to educate ppl of their struggles & how they were/are treated. Great choice of a song and artist bro
You should check out Walk the Line Revisited by Rodney Crowell. Rodney was married to Johnny Cash's daughter Rosanne for many years. After Johnny Cash died Rodney recorded it as a tribute to his former Father in law.
Kudos to you for your comments about the veterans. I often think about the very things you talked about. The fact that we don't take care of our veterans as we should is inexcusable.
You’d love the music video for his song “one piece at a time” and he actually does have a song called “chicken in black” not only was Johnny looking out for the little man he also gave us some laughs as well love his sense of humor
Johnny Cash was a man of his word he never wore anything but black even up to the day that he died. He had kept wearing it because there was still so many things that were wrong people that weren't being helped that needed help . People that were losing their houses because somebody in Big Business wanted to put a shopping mall where their house was . Johnny Cash was a man of the people he hated seeing anybody taken advantage of. He couldn't stand seeing all the homeless people with nowhere to go , and barely survive and out on the street during the heat and the cold. He tried helping the Indian nations , which not only then but even now are still being screwed over by the government trying to force them to let people feed their cattle on on the tribal land . He hated seeing all the young men being hooked on dope by greedy people just wanting to make money off of them . He hated seeing how the sick and elderly were being treated like they were a piece of trash just to be put out on the curb . And he really hated seeing people in government offices that all they cared about was how they could make money under the table. The man was 💯% PATRIOTIC AMERICAN who believed ALL people should be equal and treated fairly . But unfortunately things didn't really change much and that's why I like I said even up to the day he died he was wearing black on his clothes and never worn any clothes with any colors in them . God Bless Johnny Cash and his wife June . 💔💔💔🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 Lord knows we sure do miss ya !!!!!
Such a classic!!! Johnny's music has a way of just grabbing your attention and hitting you right in the heart definitely react to Johnny Cash Folsum Prison Blues another legendary classic keep up the good work homie ✌
The line about the prisoner who paid for his crime but still there, that hit me cause after all this time. Something is being done about people there but the punishment is way over what the crime was. I am happy we are working to change that now with the First step program, prison reform., finally. I don't believe he grew up well to do, although his parents had a farm and he helped out there as a child. He had addictions, later on, perhaps a lot of his songs are because he struggled with things himself. Remember Elvis became Pretty rich, yet remember the less fortunate; Elvis himself was brought up in a ghetto. I am sure you are familiar he did later on called IN The Ghetto if not I recommend it to you. Other reactors like yourself, have reacted to it. One said he was surprised that a white man even took the time to tell it like it really is, (Paraphrsewd that :)
No one else will recommend it but listen to Johnny Cash The Legend of John Henry’s Hammer Orange Blossom Special Sunday Morning Coming Down and Ghost Riders in the Sky
I like your comment about dying with nothing left. You’re absolutely right, there are things that I should do right now and I would regret if I didn’t. The fear of failure is so strong but we never think about the grief of forsaken success.
To keep things in perspective here, Johny Cash wrote this in the same year we landed on the moon. This message of his is timeless. It may be even more fitting for what's happening in 2020.
In his younger day's he wore typical suits, than started to wear black, if you want to hear a fun song listen to , one piece at a time, about building a Cadillac over a few years
People can learn a lot from this song he was the man if every human not race cause I don't believe in race we're human he just had a heart and yes if people would just spread it through out the world we all need to become one be United again as we're supposed to be.
Johnny Cash's number one and everybody's book he is a down trying speaker bro do them Justice I'm going to say that before I even watch the video he's the guy that brings tears to your eyes another good video hurt
They should tax the millionaire and billionaire, doesnt have to be alot, but put that tax $ to mental health care to help reintroduce veterans into society, and some sort of program to get them jobs
You hit a lot of buttons there. Until all the veterans are taken care of we have no business giving anything to anyone else. They made it possible. It's like counting from one to two, one comes first.
If you were given 1 Billion dollars and returned in time to Jesus's birthday. If you then spent $1000 every single day from then till today, you would still have over $250,000,000 dollars left.
Johnny never forgot growing up dirt poor, his bad drug addiction, going to jail few times and being held down. He overcame with the help of his wife, June Carter and his return to religion, which worked for him. So, he never judged others but held out his hand.

Johnny never forget where he came from. He came from blue collar roots, and he always remembered and respected that !
THANK YOU
❤️
That would be so awesome. He is my absolute favorite male artist. I haven’t gotten to meet too many. But I did get to meet Charley Pride once. 😀
What an amazing memory! I'm so happy for you to have that memory with your Grandma 💙
Johnny Cash played live more than once at Folsom prison to try and cheer up the prisoners. Epic shows.
I believe he wrote this during the Vietnam war hence the line about 'every day we lose hundred fine young men'
Lowrie Bean yeah I assumed that when I first heard it
Song still relevant today
Johnny knew the song, "The Man In Black" was needed to be written. This was why it took a week for this to happen. He didn't want the spotlight on him. He only wanted the spotlight on the people in need. This was Johnny Cash. Rest in peace Johnny. We love you.

Johnny Cash was a visionary. Way ahead of his time. I'll always love this man ❤
Johnny cash I've been everywhere man it's the first rap song unbelievably good
Jason Chandler but also a cover... hank snow did the original american version, which again was a cover of an australian song (using australian towns)
It’s a cover of Hank Snow, who was a dear friend of my dad’s actually. But I like cash’s version better
Though I will say, Hank did some crazy fucking key changes in that song. I saw that live before he died. Anyway, here’s his version. I still prefer Cash but got a special love for Hank ❤️ ua-cam.com/video/jet7Ue743Do/v-deo.html
Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down
Oh wait he already did lmao
His song "A boy named sue" - if you want a smile. Great storyteller songwriters, like Dave and "Lesley"
That was Shel Silverstein
Johnny Cash will always be THE MAN in Black to me ...nice reaction
He is the Original Man In Black. He is wearing black in Hurt
He did wear black. He was always concerned about the poor & he did a concert in a prison. President Nixon was not happy with the man in black.
Neither was his manager or record producer, but you know who won that fight!

JOHNNY CASH is the G.O.A.T. ! ! !

I love seeing people experience Johnny for the first time. ♥️

Beautiful song.... love that man in black
JC was always socially aware and socially active. Never shied away from speaking his truth.
Love love love love me some Johnny Cash
I love him so much.
Please do more. His entire show at Folsom County would be great!
Please do Cash live at San Quinton! Song is called San Quinton! It’s pretty cool to see the prisoners all getting into it.
Merle Haggard was in the audience, as a prisoner not a guest singer.
Kudos to you for your comments about the veterans. I often think about the very things you talked about. The fact that we don't take care of our veterans as we should is inexcusable.
this was from 1971, Johnny was referring to the men who died fighting in the immoral Vietnam war.
He was referring to the loss of so many kids in Vietnam. Great reaction choice.
You’d love the music video for his song “one piece at a time” and he actually does have a song called “chicken in black” not only was Johnny looking out for the little man he also gave us some laughs as well love his sense of humor
