In 1990, Busch Gardens Williamsburg unveiled an entirely new ride experience: Questor. Questor was a motion simulator that used an indoor theater that "moved" along with a live-action steam-punk fantasy sequence playing out on a big motion-picture screen. In the ride, you board the airship Questor, which is piloted by an 800-year-old gnome named Alwyn, in the search for the Crystal of Zed. Hijinks then ensue.
The ride proved popular and a second Questor ride opened at Busch Gardens' Tampa park the following year.
The Williamsburg Questor ran until 1996, where the presentation and theming were "swapped out" with a new experience called King Arthur's Challenge. The ride experience has changed several times in the years since (Corkscrew Hill, Europe in the Air) and the location currently houses the VR simulation ride Battle for Eire.
While mostly forgotten, those that rode Questor in the early 1990s still look back on the original ride with fondness. These two news segments show what was then a cutting-edge flight simulator experience, before the age of VR and what made it appealing. Also be on the lookout for the cameo by actor and comedian Bob Saget!

Great Ride this area needs to have a ride again.
One of the best rides from visiting Busch Gardens as a kid
I’m from Norfolk and I loved that ride. You walk through a cave while on line
Man, the memories.... I miss home.
I remember the Questor all the seats shaking, and a ride called Big Bad Wolf
Loved that ride! “Jerbillium” (sp?) was the power used for the ride.
R.I.P. Bob Saget.
Questor in Tampa was replaced in 1998 with a horrible simulator show called Akbar’s Adventure Tours starring Martin Short. It was closed in 2005.
Moving cam... Proto-drone.
I think I’d have been scared to go on assuming someone would vomit near me. Otherwise, sounds fun.
I went on the new winter themed version of it and let me tell you it is NOT a fun ride. More motion sick than teacups.
