Why'd i just realize the Magnaguards are a part of the IG droid line
They had a different purpose and design. IG 88 and it counter parts are also a bit more simplistic in design. Simplistic yet very dangerous. Look at b1 droids compared to b2 or even b3(look up b3 for more info).
Hail fires technically are as well. Although they're droid tanks, they're known as IG-227s, meaning they're apart of that droid line as well.

IG-11 was every bit as scary and cool that I wanted IG-88 to be. Lethal, precise and his only blind spot was for a fellow bounty hunter.
That’s a lot of lore that had to be written to give the back story of a prop from “A New Hopes” cantina scene.
true but the IG was not in the Cantina. It was in Darth Vader imperial ship receiving a bounty order

Krystal Myth he shot it through the head? It's dead as hell.
Fake Name WE CAN REBUILD THEM
Droids have the ability to be rebuilt and retain things like prior memory cores or what not. It’s totally possible they can come up with something good for an explanation.
Fake Name not anymore
In the Star Wars (Pen & Paper) role-playing game (90s), I was allowed to play a rebuilt IG-88 droid that used my near-dead cryo-frozen character's body. Mostly hamburger, but enough of the head had my "dead" character's personality as salvageable. We were planning on capturing a cloning facility to somehow stop the almost guaranteed death and regrow the body. Our backup plan was a black market cyborger. Well, the party got a lot of stolen IG-88 parts. The cloning facility failed. We went to the cyborger. He was happy to get all those IG-88 parts and said he'd rebuild my dead character for free, the only option was having him be a droid with a tiny bit of brain matter, which was all the organics he could salvage. My dead character was rebuilt into an IG-88. Only memories and personality were intact. Had to get new skills but the bulk of the brain was the droid hardware which had some killer skills.
Now, on to the point. As an IG-88, I (my character) was smarter, faster, and deadlier than anyone not a Jedi knight with a lightsaber. I was walking 360-degree room sweeping firepower with built in hacking ability that surpasses the need for an astromech in that way. Also, an insane amount of tech gear built into my body. What's the catch. I was a glass cannon and anyone seeing me immediately decided to go into overkill and emergency strategies. Hide behind a pillar? That stormtrooper will fire a concussion missile past the pillar to explode on the wall behind you just to blast-radius hit you. Mortar fire will be called into your position, even if you are with civilians. Your party's surrender will only be accepted if they throw your broken and deactivated body before them. My character commonly wore a fake "skin" of a lesser droid that fell off once combat began. I kicked a lot of butt... I was also rebuilt more than a few times. They are like the opposite of a Jedi, a glass cannon. All they have to do to survive a battle is take your relatively fragile butt apart before you wipe them out. It is a fun character to play, sort of like playing a combat mage in AD&D. Lots of firepower and special abilities but their archers will prioritize killing you.
imagine typing out an entire book and getting 4 likes :/

I’ll give that story a like. Sounds like a bad ass game.

A bussiness suggestion - order rather YVH-1 combat droids developed by Tendrando Arms.
or well YVH-3 bugcrunchers were also excellent. when Luke was assaulting Ackbar he only had squad of them as support to defeat Unu Thul and Lomi Plo.
@@CliffuckingBooth You have to consider the technological gap too, IGs have a highly advanced software and have faster reaction times, not to mention their learning capacity, each IG could have the same power as Skynet itself, then the hardware, they may look silly, but they're made of durasteel, SW blasters are millenia ahead of Skynet's plasma weaponry, so i doubt they may damage a lot of it's armor and that's just the common IG models.

These sentient droids actually seem like a really big deal that not everyone knows about
Most high level Droids are capable of acquiring sentience that's why they are supposed to go through periodic memory wipes. Its one of the main things that led to the unique personalities of R2 (the Astromechs in general) and C-3PO that they were very rarely wiped over three generations.
Kind of makes the casual racism for them all over Star Wars that much more unpalatable but that's a bit of the point.

What was the point of the Lancer Droids from the original Clone Wars series? Not only that but why does the Republic have the same thing for Clone Troopers? That said, there are a lot of things like that in the original series such as the stomping thing Windu fights on Dantooine.
lol that was just the cocaine doing it's thing
The Clone Wars were a VERY experimental time.
Normally I'd imagine its in the manual for crowd control during a riot. Since those lances have an anti-armor capability to them its swarm tactics.
The stomping thing was essentially a big mining device that would loosen up and disrupt the soil so smaller mining droids could go in and collect the precious ore.

*didn't mention IG-86 once*
we were on the verge of greatness, we were this close...
but seriously the IG series is probably my favorite robot design of all time bar R2-D2 himself
that only increased when the magnaguard IG-100 was introduced
and even more so when IG-86 was introduced in the clone wars.
the crazy flips and inhuman movements seen by the IG-86s that fought Anakin and Ahsoka on Gha Nachkt's freighter, Vulture's Claw in "downfall of a droid" are exactly how I had pictured them fighting.
they were also seen under the command of Ziro the hutt and Cad Bane.
IG-11 in the mandalorian was amazing and I hope to see him repaired and back on the team considering his voice actor mentioned him having an interesting arc in the season
Mocking Query: "Corra? Corra, are you dead yet?"
Good old KotOR II
This is fantastic detail! I’ve always been fascinated with the IG droids, but now I love them even more, especially after what we just saw in The Mandalorian. Thanks for providing another stellar video.
I am not a child and I approve this video.
Alright finally the IG series Droids always wondered how they were that deadly
IG-88 in SW: Shadows of the Empire was scary AF!! No matter how fast I ran or wherever I went it, as soon as I turned around it would still be right behind me shooting my ass loll. IG-11 is pretty cool also and Taika Waititi is perfect for the role, I just would like to see IG-88 on screen again and hear it's cold menacing voice again.
This seems to make sense, except there were multiple instances of IG droids appearing in the Clone Wars series and movie that were ostensibly not Lancer models or MagnaGuards. Using the Clone Wars Character Encyclopedia, which as far as I know still counts as canon, several IG-86 droids were used during the course of that series. Notable examples include the group on Gha Nachkt's ship during that one time he tried to sell R2 to Grevious in season 1, as well as those in service with the Black Sun crime syndicate under Ziro the Hutt.
oh man i would've loved to see a machine uprising story in the starwars universe.

*Alternate reality,* the I.G. series win and take over the Galaxy… then the Vong turn up.

i weirdly imagine there would be an enormous uprise of force sensitives though. The force relies on organic life. Organic life allows reality t ostay held together. Wipe it out and reality collapses and the droids along with it.
So the force would respond by making everyone more powerful. The force is stronger than a mere droid.

I find it hard to believe that a galactic civilization that's been using droids with AI for literal millennia has never had to deal with robot uprisings before and wouldn't have some types of fail safe systems in place.
How do you think Ion Weapons were developed?
They had fail safe systems in place. They knew how make A.I non sentience. They also program to love their job. With IG-88 was mistake that it figure out how to reprogram droids. The mistake is make it sentience.

IG-11's walking motion in The Mandalorian is kind of scary. It also reminded me of how the T-800 walks in Terminator 1, almost very identical.

YVH droids are literally Terminators in Star Wars
The IG series is just more proof why droids are the best.

I have a serious question that I hope one of you can answer. Ok, here it goes... so the IG unit seen in the mini series “The Mandalorian” appears to be the robot version of Clint Eastwood with Soldier 76’s tac visor. So my question is why did the separatists produce battle droids and super battle droids as their main infantry units when the could’ve just mass produced this highly effective IG model instead?...
Largely due to costs and availability of resources. The OOM & B1 series battle droids used cheap abundant materials in comparison to other droids. These resource limitations even managed to severely cripple production of B2 super battle droids, and prevented them from fully replacing the B1's in combat roles.
IG units in clone wars: i got shot by blaster in arm :(

Whenever I would start up A Lego star wars game I'd be so excited to unlock the IG-100 Magnaguard droids One of my favorite droids of all time next to IG-88 and BD-1
These should have been the main battledroids of the prequels.
Jesus, those lance fights were one of the dumbest things-ever Star Wars.
Visually, possibly. Storyline wise, not even close. Especially not after the Last Jedi's many tactical wonders.
It's really just an anti-vehicle grenade on a pole used from the back of a motorcycle. Such an anti-armor weapon is still found in modern-day field manuals (See page H-5 to H-6 in FM 21-75), you're just employing it from a fast mobile vehicle rather than an ambush. If I was a tank crewman and had a bunch of people on motorcycles armed with pole charges attacking me with suicidal feirceness I'd be rather worried, even with machine guns I wouldn't be sure I could kill them all; now you add on to that the speeder bikes can fly...
Now Is it going to be the primary anti-armor tactic on the battlefield? Hell no. But if you got the speeder bikes for your normal scout or air cavalry(?) duties and the power lances sitting around why not have it in the doctrine?
@@williammagoffin9324 Except, they did not work like grenades at all, they were metal lances that pierced through armor. The only thing they have going was vibrating end under high electricity. Moreover - lances were held by hand, with no harness, on speedbikes that could exceed few hundred km/h, so touching anything with it, yet alone armor, would in the best case dislodge the arm of a clone trooper, in the worst case kill him instantly from the sheer forces involved. Which I'll give it to Geostomp - got a fierce competition for the dumbest thing ever, but still... it's mindbogglingly stupid.
BTW, fun fact: those lance droids are a still part of the Disney canon, via comic books (lance clone troopers, interestingly enough, are not)

Droids are treated like garbage. I totally agree with the Droid uprising.
Well you got to look at it like this, they were created to be used as tools for their purposes. Its a machine after all. The only issue is they gave them sentience, which makes them more advanced, independent, and adaptable, but as a result they have emotions. Now you wouldn't treat a tool with kindness or a loving/respectable nature would you, especially if its one created for killing people. They should of programmed a more "loyal" personality into it rather than let it just run wild, similar to how HK-47/51 is in kotor/swtor.
