www.throbak.com/paf-pickups.html Kid Andersen shows the tricks of expert blues chord solos using ThroBak JW-102B PAF pickups repros in his 1958 Gibson ES-175.
Thanks so very much Mr Anderson. I enjoy all your guitar work. Showing me those simple yet cool licks will allow me to be a better guitarist... Very cool
Kid is the baddest funk soul and blues player there is today. bar none. the baddest cat i have been able to find scouring the internet for the best real deal players. its really undeniable. he aint disappointed me yet.
That really is the most convincing guitar video about pickups. So much music in this playing... I'm blown away by it since 2015. Congrats, you really are amazing.
A while back I met Charles Baty and realized he was not a Night Cat any more so curiously came looking to see who Rick Estrin's guitarist was. Kid is great in that his attention to detail is in a very deep grease sort of way.
I Just discovered that on that first partial cord lick you showed you can keep that same shape and play over the 4 chord..You can do so by keeping the b flat root and move a whole step then a half step..
Hey, When soloing over the minor scale I'm confused whether the 2nd and 6th work well with it. Also When I watch Buddy Guy and other blues players like that I see when they are in the middle of a solo they will throw in a chord that looks like an E shape but the index finger is doing something as well, really high up the fret board and rapidly strum it. Can anyone help me out with those 2 questions?
The 2 and ESPECIALLY the 6th are touch notes for me. I personally don't like to linger on the 2 note. it just has a vibe to me of an "I just learnt that i can use this slightly fancier note and I;m gonna do it to death!" I mean, i use it all the time, but there's something in certain peoples approach to it that starts sounding palpably "un bluesy" to me. it's all about what you put INTO your brain, what you are listen to and learning from. Like a child learning to speak, you pick up the language from the people talking around you. Envelope your life experience in real deal blues music, and you'll have the foundation from which you can expand. As for the 6th note, the MINOR 6th note is one of my least favorite notes when i hear most guys play it. It's like what i said about the 2, but it sounds WAY more "not blues" to me. that is one i will VERy rarely linger on. Maybe on a slow minor blues over the 4 chord, if that's where my mind takes me. but i vastly prefer the sound of the major 6 (dorian style), but there are times where that just won't fit either. Your last question, i'm sure i would know what it is when i see it, but your description of it doesnt make it clear to me what it could be. thanks for listening and supporting this shit!
haha, the amp is a little 15 watt class a Laney LC15R. I had one when i was a kid, always thought it sounded great, until one day it fell off a chair and stopped working. i gave it away. But i recently bought another one, and i really like it. I put a better speaker in there, a Weber.
damn kid, you really are a top notch musician. hell of a bluesman. migtht be the blackest sounding unknown guitarist. i've heard. gary clark and joe boneinassa are maggots in comparison..
I just play what i feel and come up with. So do those guys. our background and language are different, but they are certainly no less capable. it's just a matter of what your tastes are. Thank you so much for the compliment though!
@@KidAndersen Thanks for the lesson and your perspective. Cool stuff and I'm a gonna play around with it. And yeah, let's send positive vibes out there, it is possible to love and enjoy what a number of guitarists play and teach us without insulting anyone. Peace and love!
send me your email. i'll send it to you you. it aint nothing but looking through my old drives and sending an email. Derrick Martin on drums and Endre tarczy on bass, Bob Welsh on piano. You can't beat it. Guys who have the groove, skills, and they LISTEN intently. Not that that last part will be reflected in the ba cking track when you are playing over it.... ;)
Hey you are Kid Andersen. I'm tired of these imitadores. You got the hair and glasses more better. Red plate and throbak overdrive boost too. The guitar and pickups help a little too. but ya have ta have the Kid not an imitadore. No enchiladore either Thanks for the chords!
This lesson is GOLD! Learned something WAY cool in less than five minutes. Thanks Kid!
I play for a living many many years. Just picked up the True Fire refining blues lesson. Real good stuff man.

Nice playing...what amp are you using?
