Wow the Old Coffee House used to be FILTHY, Cross Keys much better and 100 yds from my old flat. Covent Garden is full of corporate garbage but also home to some amazing pubs, one of my favourites the Coach and Horses just next to the Theatre Royal, its landlord passed away not long ago, RIP Mr. Ryan.
Next time I’m in London will have to check these out. Was impressed with the Southampton Arms in Kentish Town when we met up last year. Great video, cheers 🍻
The Harp, yes! I work on The Strand. The Harp is small, but great. If you go out the back of The Harp you find London's narrowest alleyway at the back where there is a private members dining club behind a shiny black door. Choose the right evening and you can spot celebs coming an going (usually from a theatre event I suspect). Porterhouse on Maiden Lane has a surprisingly good selection of beers in the fridge (go to the bar at the back, and look up on the wall for the list) plus a small handful of guest beers on keg. Temple Brewhouse still remains my favourite, and it's on my way home. Great food selection at Temple too, and sports on big screen.
Great video! I love the Harp: ironically I discovered it whilst browsing Untapped sat in the Byron burger that used to be the Intrepid Fox. If you think it's narrow mind, you need to visit the Crown Posada in Newcastle. It's a great pub in its own right that has only got better in the last ten years now they are having more smaller breweries on, but it's so narrow you can touch both walls at the back!
I'll never forget how when I first visited London in 2001, the difference in alcohol content between a beer there and what I had in the U.S. literally knocked me off my feet after my first pint.
Used to work on the other side of the square from the Toucan. Great pub, and owned by Suggs of Madness fame. Though not beer related, just along the road is The Star bar (or used to be) which is one of the best gin bars in London, with vaulted downstairs space which is very cool.
2020... I miss the pub the background buzz of conversation not being afraid to be in crouds, the pork scratchings and potato based snacks, the crackling log fire, the damp post walk dog smell, the creamy head of many slow Sunday pints.. The stumble home... please come back pubs we miss you
I love the ale in the harp.Dark star, kernel brewery, and Harvey's wow !!Disappointing selection of Cider, this pub used to be one of the best Cider pub's in London .Now only serves 3😣
We kept it all within central London as we tried to make all the pubs we mentioned easy to get to from one another. That said, the Hope in Carshalton is awesome and would have made it in otherwise!
@@TheCraftBeerChannel fair play. I look forward to reading it. Got some recommendations for Croydon, The Green Dragon, The Oval, Art & Craft. And a few more. Great place for a pint. Worthy of video. Or a second pub guide book 😉 get in touch if you need a tips.
Will be checking out your book for sure especially if it’s available digitally (I’m legally blind hence it really helps lol). Also about to start writing one of my own about Melbourne’s best pubs, breweries, crawls and festivals. :)
No idea who owner is. But search for the 'williamthefourthleyton' page on Facebook - lots of photos of them restoring the pub etc and I'm sure you could message them to find out more
Guys, for those of us with short attention spans, and for those who can't keep up with the slured mumblings, could you put the names of the pubs in the video description for reference. Saves us having to watch the video over and over :-) ?
Good list 👌 . Ye Olde Mitre is very nice too, and the Old Coffee House in Soho also sells Brodie's beer.....getting......thirsty......

The harp is the reason London is my favorite city in the world. Just because of you talking about it, I love this video.
Had a pint in the Harp the other week and loved it.
the dream is getting a seat in the place one day...

Great tips! How is the house brewed beer at Temple Brewhouse these days? We werent impressed on our last visit about 18 months ago.
Wow amazing..

that's a Byron now!? Enjoyed that pub. I was sad when it went.
That was the Royal Courts of Justice, the Old Bailey is opposite the Viaduct Tavern...

Fantastic video with so much great insider knowledge

Going to London soon, myself. I plan on conducting this type of research, extensively. 🍺🍺🙄
Omg !!!! I’ve been to Blackfriars. It was seriously awesome and such a departure from trendy California bars. The Sherlock was super cool also 👍🏼😎
Great pubs! Would love one dedicated to the square mile 🍻
Oh god. So fee to pick from though!
Great pub The Toucan try to visit it when I’m down from Manchester with a good pal who recommended it to me
You would like the palm tree in bethnal green too then!
Not sure if you will see this, but how up to date would this book be now?
This is crazy I see some of these pubs all the time on my walk to uni
Wish I'd seen this before I went to London for the weekend
Really enjoyed this, probably going to get myself to GBBF this year.
You the man Simon! Love your channel
more pub crawl vids please!!....got your book and looking to visit some great recommendations of yours in the months ahead!! :-)
Awesome thanks for buying it! We will be doing a crawl a month from now on in london the. Some on the road in the future too.
The Craft Beer Channel cool 🍺🍺👍
What about the Lyric in Soho? Pretty old skool look but plenty of great craft and ales on tap.
We looked at it but decided others were more historical. Got the Lyric lined up for another crawl...
I would LOVE to know which pubs are the best to play board games in!
Interesting idea! There's a pub called Draughts that's dedicated to it...I think it's in Hackney somewhere.

Lovely description. Tough times to look back on it! Hopefully not too long now.
Is it wrong that when they said the Seven Stars was a place full of solicitors, I didn't think about lawyers/barristers?
I love the ale in the harp.Dark star, kernel brewery, and Harvey's wow !!Disappointing selection of Cider, this pub used to be one of the best Cider pub's in London .Now only serves 3😣
Did it really? Cider choices are still really pour in london. Southampton arms has a good range though.
There isn't much decent cider in Britain as very little of it is 100% apple juice
Are there any Croydon pubs in your book. Or is it very central London based? Does go beyond zone 3!
We kept it all within central London as we tried to make all the pubs we mentioned easy to get to from one another. That said, the Hope in Carshalton is awesome and would have made it in otherwise!

It does indeed have a digital version! Best of luck with your writing!
it's that egg guy. The one who fell off the wall
If you ignore the arcade toilets (yep, you read that right) the King and Queen in Fitztrovia fits the bill.
Looking forward to more pub crawl content when normal service resumes x
That's a marketing campaign if ever I've heard one. 'Guiness! It's not Bovril'.
King William IV isn’t being turned into flats - it re-opens under new ownership next month
WAT. Who is the new owner!? We heard different.
No idea who owner is. But search for the 'williamthefourthleyton' page on Facebook - lots of photos of them restoring the pub etc and I'm sure you could message them to find out more
Looks like a bit of a "Foody" place now?
Dyffryn Arms aka Bessies in Pontfaen Pembrokeshire Wales
Fucking love this channel.
Well fuckin thanks mate!
Vicariously going on a pub crawl in 2020 without having to order a Scotch egg with every pint 😪
Can someone list all 5 here in the comments? Finding it hard to find them on the map just from the names I pick up from them.
Hi! We went to the Harp, the Toucan, The Blackfriars, the Seven Stars and the Cross keys!
@@TheCraftBeerChannel Thank you!!!

Haha. Sure thing.
Yes , Southampton arms still good.
Euston Cider tap no more and bree Louise lost.
quoting one of the most famous Italian publican: " The only way to drink well in London is to take a train to Bristol" 🤣
makes me want to grab my mates and go back to the pubs we drank in as teens
how about a tour of london brew pubs?
Good shout. They are very spread out though! Would be more a hike than a crawl!
Sedan chair?
That was NOT the Bailey...!
You can't drink a pint of Bovril.
Glad someone got the reference!
I've learned nothing from this. But I'm ok with that.
Haha. If anything we forgot stuff because of this.
I was excited about visting that pub some day until I heard the jukebox playing Bon Jovi. That ruined the atmosphere for me.
oh the days of me working in London and complaining about over priced Sh1t beer haha
Drink drink drink so sad
