Thank you for a wonderful memory. A good friend and coworker, the late Tom Walsh from South Boston, took me on a hike in Northern Vermont on a Fall weekend back in1989. He said, "lets go up to the Lake Willoughby area" We hiked in the rain, enjoyed the aroma of the Forests, and had a wonderful experience as outdoorsmen. This video brought all of it back. We stayed in Orleans VT in a small cabin, where the floor had settled and was slanted. Just like it was yesterday. Cheers.
This lake is beautiful. My favorite Vermont scenic place. I live in Vermont and picniced there in my early adult life. Thank you for the sharing and interesting facts.
@@straubdavid9 I think they just drown. The bark comes off of our trees growing in swampy areas and the sun bleaches them like driftwood. It's kind of pretty in its own way here in Minnesota.
Ken, I love the video and your insight of lake Willoughby. Spent many of summers on the lake when the children were small. Hiked mount Pisca to catch the views and now drones make it easy for more to appreciate. Thanks for sharing and what you do. Nice garages too and love a boss who belts up and teaches many people of craftsmanship. Keep up the great work! Bob B.
I followed Ken here from a mention in Ken’s Karpentry and I had to subscribe. Absolutely breathtaking scenery. Thank you Ken! How I’ve enjoyed this video and look forward to more!
Great beautiful ken , same as I come from O’Regan’s west coast Newfoundland. I get a lot off moose hunter from your Vermont state . So far we are ticks free , put Nova Scotia got them . Moose own drink clean water ken , like a horse . Very very great video Tks you ken !
Ken, thanks for the aerial perspective of Lake W. My very young family visited for a week almost fifty years ago and we loved the quiet peaceful serenity of the Northeast kingdom. We drove through about forty years later and were happen to see that minimal development had taken place. Still pretty pristine and one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Flew over this area many times during the 80’s, as an FB-111 and B-52 navigator. The fall colors were breathtaking. Unfortunately Pease and Plattsburgh Air Force Bases were closed.
I was stationed at Plattsburgh 1980-82. Loved it!👍🏻 Flew into Pease one time on a flight back from RAF Upper Heyford to move my family to the UK. I would have loved to have been stationed at Pease as well .... beautiful state. Take care.✌🏻
I’ve been coming here for most of my life & have a deep, abiding love for this area. We have a house on the eastern shore that’s been in our family for going on four generations. It’s located right where it looks like the base of pisgah meets the water. I spend all year waiting for that first moment when I’m back & can jump into the water. ❤️
Thank you Ken for the amazing and beautiful video I totally enjoyed it,I was born in Bangor Maine, but have not seen any of New England's breath since I was a very young child, hope to get their befor my time is over ,but I'm 66 so don't know, just so happy you make these videos 😊
I went camping there three weeks ago. That lake is BEAUTIFUL. I loved the beach "around the corner" from the main. :) We were able to get one of the recently added camps sites at the top of the kill. Had a great time. The family running the camp site is amazing. (a lot of French Canadiens too)
Does anyone know what they are building right next to the water where the parking and beach access is? I just saw the drone pass over it and I remember the dump truck and equipment starting promptly at 7:00am. Our wake up call each morning.
Hi Ken, this one was both fascinating and very beautiful. I also really enjoyed your voice over much more this time, as you read each paragraph well and then paused to bring in the beautiful classical piano music - always a winner with my wife and me. Nicely done buddy, thanks for sharing 🙏👍
I've lived in Vermont my whole life and I visit lake willoughby at least once a year but it's mostly always to jump off Devil's Rock which is just a 20-ft ledge that goes over the water but it's called Devil's Rock because every year this one guy climbs under the cliff and paints a devil you have to jump off our boat to see it it's pretty cool
Really enjoyed the video, scenery, and the history lesson on moose. I hope the new channel is taking off and we can expect many more. Thanks for taking the time and great effort to provide the quality videos
My parents lived at Echo Lake about 12 miles a bit north of Willoughby. Both gorgeous but Willoughby is more gorgeous. It even has a nude beach at one end. Very very nice. Echo has a granite bottom. Dont think Willoughby has a granite bottom. My Mom painted Willoughby Lake It is on my bedroom wall. Im so happy someone has brought this info to public eye. I cant imagine flying over this lake. It didnt give author much time to view it but it must have been an exquisite snapshot to bring him to its site.
My favorite place of all time. The lake is so clear you can go to your neck and still see your feet. White sand. Such a special place and my father is buried on the north side of lake. He picked his burial place because he said he would be able to see all the sexy woman swimming in the summer. Beautiful view.. love ♥️ thanks for sharing this beautiful majestic place. I love living in Vermont.. such a beautiful state
Wow, that is beautiful! You do such great narration too Ken! I'm glad you said there is great fishing there too. Nice day for a video Ken. May Pond is pretty too. I like the lily pads. Sorry to hear that the moose population is getting reduced by ticks. Thanks for showing the loon. Great flying Ken. Thanks for this beautiful scenery!

Ken, great video with soft music and clear narration! Some basic details in this type of video would be helpful...Giving the lake length was good but the width, depth and types of fish, waterfowl would definately round out the presentation nicely.
Hi Ken love your channels you mentioned fishing in these lakes I live in Montana and am a fisherman and am curious what type of fish you fish for there.

Because of its depth, the surface of the lake freezes later than other lakes in the Northeast Kingdom.[4] Wikipedia

A beautiful lake. I have been very disappointed in the lake water quality in Vermont. Lake Champlain is so polluted now that I can't stand to see it anymore. I wish the State would get serious about controlling the runoff of animal waste from all of the dairy farms.
Actually a bigger problem is salt runoff and the occasional million gallon “accidental” dumps of waste treatment water into Lake Champlain.
Ken great video. When you were flying over the ponds I noticed a lot of evergreens that were dead. Was that natural or did some disease hit them?
It’s swampy there so they typically rot and die
Here in Minnesota there are swamps around some lakes and there are lots of dead trees there. Kind of beautiful in their own way.
