I just want to say a big thank you Chris. Your analysis and journey through the series has reignited my interest. I find I'm in total agreement with your takes on this wonderful show. A lifelong fan born in 1970 It's so unusual and delightful to see someone else appreciate the show in the same way. I can't argue with your judgement so far. A bit spooked that your lists chime in exactly! You obviously have excellent taste😉A fascinating journey. Great work sir.

I'd have maybe swapped Green Death for Carnival of Monsters, but otherwise incredible list, and I totally agree with you on Jo, what a winning performance!

    60th Anniversary Doctor Who Marathon...Take 2
    "Season 10"
    TV stories
    The Three Doctors (10/10)
    The Green Death (9/10)
    Planet of the Daleks (9/10)
    Frontier in Space (8/10)
    Carnival of Monsters (7/10)
I kinda felt bad with how amused I was with the Brigadier's first off-world experience. Suppose I can't blame him too much, the poor fellow was dealing with more than one Doctor after all. The chemistry between Troughton and Pertwee was amazing and it's unfortunate that we only get one more appearance of them together. Also...William Hartnell. Still a powerful presence and felt like the First Doctor even by this story with his limited time. Also, I know that even by the revealed lore of the day that it doesn't make too much sense how 2 and 3 show a certain amount of deference to 1, I really do love it. Farewell William Hartnell, hate to see you go for good this time...
Planet of the Daleks was a far superior story compared to their previous appearance last season. And bringing the Thals back after nearly a decade was great to see. The Thals are good allies when they're at their best within their stories and that was the case here as well.
I felt that this season was where the Doctor and Jo really solidified their relationship and the emotional goodbye at the end of the Green Death felt earned. I liked how the story built up to Jo's departure as well. I don't think there has been a better setup for a companion leaving.
4 seasons down and 1 remaining for Pertwee. The best ally this season I say goes to Cliff Jones, while the biggest enemy goes to Boss. Also...a special shout out to the "first" Master, Roger Delgado with his final appearance with Frontier in Space. He was great as always (and definitely improves the story with his presence) even though I still felt he was overused during his reign. Best thing with this Master was his chemistry with the Doctor, and honestly, Jo Grant as well at this point. Definitely a decent foil to the Doctor. In the future, can't always feel how close the Master and the Doctor actually are.
    Big Finish
The Rise of the New Humans (10/10)
    The Conservators (9/10)
    The Conquest of Far (9/10)
    The Tyrants of Logic (9/10)
    Supernature (8/10)
    Conspiracy in Space (8/10)
    The Iron Shore (7/10)
    The Quintessence (7/10)
    The Hidden Realm (6/10)
    The Scorchies (6/10)
    The Transcendence of Ephros (4/10)
Something that I really like with what Doctor Who has done recently (both in the show itself and Big Finish) is bringing back a companion when they're a lot older with the same Doctor. Jo as an old woman is formidable and really settled into what her younger self was working towards. Especially personality wise. Jo as a 20-something is a 10/10, Jo as a 70-something is perfection and is solidly on top of the companion rankings. She won't be beaten easily, and I don't see a threat to her crown until Evelyn comes in during 6s era.
    Companion rankings

Our local PBS station in the states only showed Tom Baker reruns but mu Pluto tv app has a Doctor Who channel and I've finally been able to watch the Pertwee era and loved it. For decades Tom Baker was my favorite but recently I lean more to Pertwee.
Great video and channel my friend!

Whats so remarkable about Jo as a character is that she starts off as a really annoying companion and eventually becomes one of the best companions in Doctor Who history. Maybe unintentionally but it made it feel like she developed and grew as a person throughout the series instead of just staying static

But they're literally called seasons. Ever since 1963 the BBC explicitly referred to them as seasons in all official publications. Doctor Who didn't start using the term "series" until 2005. Look it up if you don't believe me. These are universally called seaosns, and they have been since the show began.
