- This particular way of holding your fiber supply between your fingers in making a lockspun yarn is great for spinning extra short locks, making sure your yarn doesnt fall apart, and keeping the curl and texture of the locks. In the video I have used mostly lamb locks.
I think your videos are brilliant! Very creative!
How cool is this !!! Thank you!
Glad you like it!
Love watching your video’s.
thanks for this, what a pretty yarn! building my lock stash and hopefully soon will have enough short bits to do this!
Thank you Suzy! Gorgeous yarn and technique. Inspiring as always. I would love to spin and weave this into a coverlet for our new grand baby due in December!😊
Looks wonderful ! Thank you for the video.
Thank you! I appreciate knowing and learning the technique
I absolutely love this! I have some super fine crimpy wool from some of my Rambouillet that this just might be perfect for! Do you mind if I ask what kind of spinning wheel you have that does such bulky yarns?
Anything with texture and uncarded or unprocessed will work, and the Rambouillet should be soft too. My wheel is a Majacraft Aura, it’s a great all-round wheel but really shines for making art yarns :)
Suzy that looks not too difficult but great effect! I like it!What about the tension on the Aura? Average or rather high?Alet😘
I like to set it so that the core thread is being pulled from my hand at a manageable speed, not needing to hold it back and not having to push it into the orifice, so fairly strong take up.
What breed of sheep did these gorgeous locks come from?
These are Gotland lamb locks :)
@@tinyStudioMagazine thanks :) they are truly beautiful locks!
Do you ply this with, say, thread to stabilize it?
Yes, I usually ply all my yarns, and I find that thread plying a lockspun likes this also enhances the texture even more :)
Thanks for your reply--I love watching your videos!
What kind of wheel is that?
donna volponi this is my Majacraft Aura :) best wheel ever!
