It’s crazy to think that Joakim and Horford became future NBA Defensive Team selections and Oden is straight up bullying them in this game. Injuries man.
If Oden didnt get hurt he would have been a perennial MVP candidate , he looked dominate in this game against NBA caliber players... Al Horford- NBA Allstar, 3# overall pick. Joakim Noah-NBA Allstar, NBA Defensive player of the year, 7# overall pick, Mo Speights even gets NBA minutes and nobody can stop the guy.
People question why he was the number 1 pick. Obviously didn’t watch college basketball. The guy was a beast on both offense and defense. Had their been a decent doctor at Portland the man’s career would have been on par with KG. Completely different play styles true but they did very similar things in terms of numbers.
3:15 “When he dunks it, he brings the rim to eye level…every time” Foreshadowing but seriously, when I watch Greg Oden, it makes perfect sense to me how he got injured so much. Shaq would do something similar but he would let himself go while on the way down, but Oden would just launch himself. Had to have added up over all the years (ever since he could dunk probably, so years before this) It’s so sad because the other thing I notice when I watch him is I get why he went over Kevin Durant. Look how big and how agile he is (with a great touch with that hook and other post moves) against (and I CANNOT emphasize this enough) Future DPOY Joakim Noah, Al Horford (usually pretty good and still doing it 16 years later) and Marreese Speights.

Yeah oden would of been the next shaq especially considering how his best comp would of been Roy Hibbert, Howard and Bynum for centers

Im certain I’ll never see another Buckeyes team this good in my lifetime. Thanks for posting this up.
The 1960 team that actually won it.

I never understood that, if you have a 2 way big like oden with touch, speed and strength you always take that guy number 1 over any other position
As a freshman playing against Hortford and Noah and he was the best player on the floor. So sad that he was injured so young.

Man that Florida team was stacked
Oden was a double double machine and unguardable in the paint.
Oden was a straight menace to society before the injuries ..good lord
The Last Great Game Oden would Play
shorts on point. good ole days.
Injuries dam
damn these 2 teams were full of nba stars
Feel bad for him, the injuries ruined his career
Great job on the video. So many times you'd see Oden make a big ply to put Ohio State right in it then next thing we know Florida's up double digits
Makes me cry🥹🥹🥲
Durant was still easily the #1 player in that draft. He looked Iike a 6 year old dropping 30 a game at UT
Revisionist history-if anything it was a toss-up but most pundits had Oden as the #1 pick
