Yes, there is strong possibility that Tigers can thrive in the rainforest of Sth America. Sloths could injure a Toger severely if not killed instantly the giant claws could pierce right through the tiger. Causing horrible wounds and eventually infections.
Electric eels would be the only species that could cause unsolicited problems for the tiger in the Amazon. Caumans and crocs in the Amazon are not as large or aggressive as muggers, salt water crocs and gharials, and Bulll sharks exist in abundance in tiger tropical habitats too. They’d nevertheless have a harder time seeking prey as the Amazon is vast and dense making prey animals harder to find and stalk. Tigers are quite well adapted to riverine / delta conditions in the Sunderbans. Over time, tigers would probably decrease in size to adapt to their environment as they have in Indo China, Malaysia and Indonesia. Jaguars would probably have a harder time to adapt to a new and much more powerful predator and become stealthier like the leopard. Same with mountain lions who’ve not been mentioned
There are monstrous river fish in the Amazon like piranhas and Goliath catfishes and snakes like the green anacondas would be formidable threats as well.

In the Pleistocene, South America had jaguars the size of tigers, they became extinct because they could not hunt modern species, so the tiger would not survive either
Here in Brazil we have a few subspecies of jaguars, the largest of which are not those that live in the Amazon, but in the wetlands of the Pantanal, due to the less dense forest and greater variety of larger prey such as tapirs, capybaras, caimans, anteaters, wild boars, deer and armadillos. Therefore, I believe that due to its size and energy demand, the Amazon would not be such an easy place for tigers to adapt. But just a layman's opinion here
You are absolutely right. There is a reason for the tiger being larger and Jaguars being smaller. The coat pattern of the 2 cats are also different for a reason. Yes the tiger may adapt and survive in the Amazon but it’s definitely not easy as everyone notes, it will be a tough road. Jaguar are the kings of the Amazon. Tigers staying where they is better for everyone concerned.
Did you know that tigers have large prey such as tapirs, wild boars, estuarine crocodiles, wild cattle, wild buffalo, in Asian forests? Tigers can also climb and swim like jaguars
the size and energy of each tiger is different, like our tigers in Sumatra which are called Sumatran tigers, they are the same size as the Amazon jaguar... maybe what you mean is the Siberian or Bengal tiger
The tiger would starve. The Amazon is definitely not known for large creatures. I think the tiger would fare better in the cerrado region, a sort of Brazilian savannah
I tend to agree. Much smaller game in the Amazon. The tiger would have to successfully hunt much more prey then it currently does to survive. While not impossible, i think it would be hard for the Tiger. The Jaguar is normally about half the size of a tiger, so needs less food. Also i would wager that the jaguar is better at hunting smaller game then a tiger.
In the Pleistocene, South America had jaguars the size of tigers, they became extinct because they could not hunt modern species, so the tiger would not survive either
Hell no, this isn't like in India where a sick tiger eats hundreds of victims. The American natives are extremely violent and hunt game just as dangerous as any tiger or bear. They hunt other men, warriors that hunt and kill for a living. The jaguar is wise and learned to not hunt men, the tiger would learn too. It would go after tapir and learn about their ferocious bite. A herbivore that literally bit the arm off a zookeeper. If the tiger is injured and bleeding and not conscious of the piranha the kitty will make a tasty meal.

The tigers would be fine - especially if they were Bengal or Sumatran tigers that already live in similar settings to the Amazon (e.g. some Bengal tigers live in the Sundarbans mangrove forest between India/Bangladesh, Sumatran tigers obviously live on Sumatra). They might become smaller over time like the Sumatran tigers if they start out like Bengals, but that's about it. They would cope better than, say, lions would, as the difference is not so extreme and plus tigers as a species are more adaptable to different locations than arguably any other big cat including the leopard (debatable). Second reason is that the tiger is probably phenotypically and in terms of lifestyle the most similar big cat to the jaguar, which already thrives in the Amazon - it's like a supersized stripey jaguar in many ways (I am aware that tigers are genetically closest to snow leopards, but I'm talking by appearance/attributes/lifestyle than genetics). Both are superb solitary ambush/stealth predators, both love the water and are great swimmers (unlike the other big cats), both hunt and consume members of the _Crocodilia_ order, large snakes and so on and both are powerful enough to take on all comers in their respective areas...unlike, say, leopards which have to be more careful. There might be less very big game to hunt, but I'm sure the tigers would adapt and would hunt peccaries, tapir and so on. Obviously, the tiger would displace the jaguar as the new top cat, but the jaguars would also cope by avoiding the tigers and while their numbers might take a hit they would still be around. It's easier after all, to hide in the same jungle than it is for leopards or cheetahs to hide from lions in the African savannah and they manage.

Tigers would thrive but some of the young would be picked off by mature jaguars. On the flip side the jaguar population would definitely suffer. Jaguars have the strongest bite force of any cat period but tigers have such a massive size advantage it would be similar to what leopards deal with in Africa with lions and also tigers and leopards in India. It must be said though that jaguars are much more formidable opponents for tigers than leopards. Unfortunately not formidable enough. Tigers truly are the “king of the jungle” and in the Amazon they’d get to prove it.
But the difference is leopards have evolved to know how to hide their kills, also, lions are not really prone to going into jungle areas, where leopards are. In Africa, lions and leopards each have their own niche. Not so with tigers; they would be running right up against jaguars in the same environment.

I'm not sure if it would be that easy for tigers to adapt to the Amazon rainforest. The rainforest is very dense and favors smaller animals, as evidenced by the fact that even the Amazon jaguars are smaller than their Pantanal counterparts and it would be difficult to find enough large-sized prey. If they were to thrive in the rainforest, I think they would probably shrink over generations.

@@killablackmambakbm7593 Yeah, but as I mentioned, most prey in the Amazon are quite small, and a tiger requires a significant amount of meat every day. Many formidable predators have gone extinct due to a lack of prey. As I mentioned, Amazon jaguars weigh less than half as much as jaguars from other biomes.

If tigers went to the Amazon, they would be at the top of the food chain. They still kill wolves and leopards now. It would be a nightmare for a Jaguar. I respect jaguars, but tigers are on another level. The real scary thing about tigers is that they never forget the person who attacked them. There are lots of references to how tigers tracked down hunters and got revenge and killed them. And this is absolutely no joke 💀
It all depends on which cat is the one to ambush the other. If the Jaguar can successfully ambush a Tiger, the Tiger would lose due to a bite through the skull. If the Tiger ambushes the Jaguar or if they fight directly, then the Jaguar loses.
I think a jaguar could kill a tiger if they caught him by surprise. Jaguars have the most powerfull bite of the big cats and their hunting strategies often is to kill its prey with the first bite with a surprise attack to the neck, but if the jaguar fails to kill the tiger with that first bite he's so dead
That's not how it works. Cats have incredible reflexes, even if the jaguar caught a tiger by surprise, it would have to fight the tiger. That's like saying a Leopard would attempt to kill a lion sleeping in the savannah, they wouldn't dare because the lion would wake up ready to fight in a split second.

Yes, there is strong possibility that Tigers can thrive in the rainforest of Sth America. However, one has to be careful when introducing new animals as it can affected the existing wildlife and possibly wipe the out. Tigers are territorial by nature so they will most probably take up residence in their favourite areas and drive other competitors out. Much like the Asiatic Lions have been driven to areas least favourite to the Tiger.
Nobody should introduce tigers out in the Amazon , it will be a disaster. And I don't think anybody cares about introducing some vicious animals in a strange forest halfway across the world.
In the Pleistocene, South America had jaguars the size of tigers, they became extinct because they could not hunt modern species, so the tiger would not survive either

Tigers live here easily, they can live for sure in Amazon
A couple of Tigers have been introduced into a South African wildlife park and are thriving. If the Tiger was introduced into the Amazon he would be the apex predator and thus would have an effect on other predators such as his feline cousin the Jaguar. The Tiger would have a variety of prey to choose from. At some stage the Tiger would unfortunately encounter farmers and their livestock and just like Jaguars and Punas would be killed.

the tiger would not survive in Amazon for the same reason that the smilodon became extinct, a larger predator will be less fast and agile to hunt the animals there
Sloths: Thank God there are no tigers in the Amazon

Tigers thrive in Sundarban.

Except it wouldn't, it is a much more venomous and toxic place. Any wound the Tifer gets would kill it with infections.
I think the bigger question is, what would this mean for the already ENDANGERED jaguar?
@Zionist_Empire
Hunting, poaching, a daily loss of habitat; I'd say it's endangered, and adding tigers to the mix will all but ensure extinction!
This means that they better practice their climbing skills 😂

The tiger would starve. The Amazon is definitely not known for large creatures.
I think the tiger would fare better in the cerrado region, a sort of Brazilian savannah
I tend to agree. Much smaller game in the Amazon. The tiger would have to successfully hunt much more prey then it currently does to survive. While not impossible, i think it would be hard for the Tiger. The Jaguar is normally about half the size of a tiger, so needs less food. Also i would wager that the jaguar is better at hunting smaller game then a tiger.
The tiger will shrink in size
In the Pleistocene, South America had jaguars the size of tigers, they became extinct because they could not hunt modern species, so the tiger would not survive either
Those cannibals living in the rainforest will be the first to go extinct.
Yeah true
Hell no, this isn't like in India where a sick tiger eats hundreds of victims. The American natives are extremely violent and hunt game just as dangerous as any tiger or bear. They hunt other men, warriors that hunt and kill for a living. The jaguar is wise and learned to not hunt men, the tiger would learn too. It would go after tapir and learn about their ferocious bite. A herbivore that literally bit the arm off a zookeeper. If the tiger is injured and bleeding and not conscious of the piranha the kitty will make a tasty meal.

I would invite all attempts to introduce tigers into random areas. I would be proud to have tigers in my town. They are not only ferocious predators but also fine companions 😊

I don't know about jaguars having the best bite force,my guy
But the difference is leopards have evolved to know how to hide their kills, also, lions are not really prone to going into jungle areas, where leopards are. In Africa, lions and leopards each have their own niche. Not so with tigers; they would be running right up against jaguars in the same environment.
Then they introduce African lions and the tigers disappear from the Amazon, because lions would specifically hunt them due to lack of prey.
@@LiarSlayer01-gb7enOne, no way would lions choose to hunt tigers. No predator wants a prey that is that hard to kill. Two, there would still be a lot of easier animals for the lions to kill.
Almost anything on land , trees and water would be food for the tiger outside of sharks. Reptiles, rodents , Bird, mammals are all in the tiger diet. Tigers would be fine
@@killablackmambakbm7593 Yeah, but as I mentioned, most prey in the Amazon are quite small, and a tiger requires a significant amount of meat every day. Many formidable predators have gone extinct due to a lack of prey.
This guy's idea that a bullshark of those weights could hunt adult tigers is pretty funny.

Well as long as jaguars exist, there is no need to introduce tigers there mate
