Williams figured this out back in the late 90s. Why is this still even a thing with Stern?
I forget more often to put the balls back in, put the glass on, then go, oh crap. Don't think I ever forgot to take them out.
I think it was BoF, uses a plunger to auto block the trough. That is even slicker than this, as there is no door to set and clear.
I dont have to take the balls out of Labyrinth?!
@@gopooalreadyplease5842
Sorry. It was AB that has two trough locks, not BoF ua-cam.com/video/L7DE8uY6gyc/v-deo.htmlsi=FXl-W87IE0SQFGRX
So the answer to forgetting to remove the balls is to forget to lock the trough lock. Am I missing something? I don't see how this solves anything.
Lol.. yup.. if the mechanism automatically slid down with gravity it might be fool proof but I don't think it does (at least 100%)
Dumbest product I've ever seen 😆 🤣 magnetizing and having to remember to set the lock and not the balls you literally here jiggling around.
If I remember, I do the rag thing. IF
Pinball 2000 has a gate that closes itself using gravity when you lift the playfield
Love that on my Revenge… such an elegant solution to a common problem
I just use an old sock (clean lol), but have also had balls fall out from between the flippers. Also, sometimes I'll have to manually eject a ball to the shooter lane after lowering the playfield. The balls will stack in the trough where the game cant detect it and will cycle through ball search, or give a message that a ball is missing.
$20 plus five dollars shipping for what a shop rag can do. And I can use the same rag for ALL of my machines...no installation required. No thank you.
seems like a cool product, surprised there wasn't something like this already.
Sad stern never thought of this. Probably would be a $100.00 part according to them.
But...my usual thing is when I lift a playfield, the balls go everywhere...everyone eEXPECTS that to happen when I lift a playfield! 🙂
clever idea.
i was always forgetting to remove the balls the first months i had my first pin, but since then i never forgot to put a piece of foam to block the balls again. I still forget sometimes to remove the foam after putting the glass back! :D
There are Pro and Premium/LE versions. I wonder what the physical difference is? Didn't realize the trough would be different.
Very nice video. Thanks for posting and have a nice day too.
I own Revenge from mars (1999) pinball so already sorted. But wonder why this idea has not become standard by now.
Well that’s nifty.
hmmm how long till this is on thingiverse?
Now! I created my own version and put it on thingiverse/printables. Plus I created something to catch any balls from falling out of the drain while the playfield is raised.
@@george-corrigan do you have a link or a name for the search?
@@jeremylester6537 I have several pinball related models.
For that price I’ll just keep using a micro fiber😂
That's pretty sweet
Cary can you recommend replqcement speakers for my Funhouse? I asked on Pinside and I get random answers.
@peparcell speakers are going to be subjective as hell. In the end, you can update the speakers all you want, but if you don't have an amp to push those speakers, then it doesn't really matter.
@@CaryHardy Suggestion on stock replacement from a supplier? Thanks for your help
Just a small square (block)piece of foam. new Sterns come packed with at least a dozen of them. Funny, my premium acdc has powder coated armor but cheap plastic apron. Stinks.
your magnets are the best idee
Cool. That trough looks a lot like a money clip. I wonder if that would work the same.
Cool looking product but this new auto tracking camera set up is even better!
I use one of my socks, lol..or if I'm waxing I'll use a microfiber cloth that's sitting next to me..I am careful about the rollover switch though, so I don't just blinding shove it in the hole without a bit of caution, lol.
I hate when my balls bounce all over the damn place when I lift the playfield up.
Completely confused why stern doesn't add the 1.29 solution that JJP uses to this problem???
We need a gravity-fed idiot proof version
Ooooooooeeeeee, I love doing it… 😁
Man I've done that many of times with the balls lol
Started with a ball sack to hold the balls, [then] used a ball sock to plug the hole, now we have a ball [lock]. Sack, sock, and [lock], let's just stop here.
[edit]
Just take a hand cloth and shove it in the trough. Yanno? The same one u just used to wipe down the pf? Works everytime
$25 shipped is a bit much.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking
Or you can use a ten cent rag
I just use a cloth
This doesn’t solve the problem of remembering however.
There is an old and extremely cheap, 100% working part that sell for less than 5$ that prevent balls from falling when you raise the playfield ... JJP have it installed on all their pins. I have installed it on every older "non JJP" game I have. Why Sterns still having problems with this very simple and cheap to solve problem is beyond me.
