I loved seeing Ben Brode! Hearthstone was my gateway game before I got into Magic, so it was great to see him on the other side of my card game hobbies! Great game, great episode.
Lot of people seem to be stoked for Ben to be on the episode. I don’t know him at all and he unfortunately wasn’t able to do much but he seems like a fun guy to play Magic with and overall seems like a good guy. Great episode. Great to see Emma and CGB on the episode too!

This game shows why politics is so important: Emma could have teamed up with Lynch to one hit K.O. the clear threat on the board Covert with her Master of cruelties while Lynch bounces all his blockers. Instead she and Lynch end up playing for second place because they wasted lots of resources on each other.
@@delanee Master is not removed from combat, it would still have put CGB at 1 life. Maze says it prevents combat damage but Master specifically says it is not combat damage. What I am wondering though is why Lynch didn't bounce his Hinata to save it.
@@HeloKoL Master needs to be unblocked to trigger it's effect. CGB could Maze of Ith it before declare blockers step so it doesn't even get the chance to become unblocked
Seeing Ben Brode was such a pleasant surprise that I actually exclaimed "Holy shit, it's Ben Brode!" after his introduction. He was definitely one of the people that made Hearthstone truly special. Good to see him playing cards again!

honestly super appreciate the way the group was helping the pop off get to learn their deck and assist with the final turn and wasn't salty about the deck being more powerful than folks anticipated. super good game as always!

Always look forward to the new IHYD episode and this one did not disappoint. Great interaction between the players and the continuous laughter in face of the absurdity of the CGB deck shenanigan's was like the cherry on top of a great evenings dessert. Thanks for sharing your games with us.

I’ve noticed this trend in almost all MTG content including WOTC streams. Not sure why no one will take the extra second to pull up the matching image.
I have never wanted to play Magic with somebody more than Ben Brode. He could absolutely wallop me every game (or vice versa) and I know it would still just be all laughs and good times!
Lynch, each and every episode this season has been an 11/10. The guests, the atmosphere, the gameplay, all of it is beyond awesome. Getting to highlight the professor's dream deck box is an honor you DEFINITELY earned. Can't wait for more.

In case anyone else is curious about the Master of Cruelties scenario: "Whenever Master of Cruelties attacks a player and isn't blocked, that player's life total becomes 1." MoC's trigger goes on the stack after the declare blockers step. You can respond to it on the battlefield before passing to the declare blockers step. "An ability that triggers when something “attacks and isn't blocked” triggers in the declare blockers step after blockers are declared if (1) that creature is attacking and (2) no creatures are declared to block it."
Great video guys! IHYD has revitalized my love for the game. Around the 34:00 minute mark I think disorder to the court should've returned everyone's creatures tapped to the battlefield but otherwise great game and fun casual magic
When Emma swung at Lynch and put down Master of Cruelties, and she chose to redirect his Snap at the shark, she couldn't later choose to change that target again to target Hinata. If she had chosen to target Hinata, Lynch would have chosen to also target Hinata with his flicker spell, protecting it from the snap and making it come back at Emma's end step, like every other non-token
He also could have told her that he was going to cast his flicker spell once she cast her redirect spell, so she could target Shark Typhoon, which would have helped them both
"I'm allergic to basic lands" - GOLDEN! I'm allergic to CGB, but here he is a very different person and I love it! Although all of those guests are awesome, for the first time since Prof and Malone, I really like all of the guest...also decks are pretty awesome
Rule Zero means nothing to me if the players do not have a wide variety of decks powerlevel that they brought. What I see at my tables is the same I see in this show. People present 1-3 decks from which they already have one in mind they'd like to play. Then they go into Rule Zero conversation already biased and kind of randomly choosing what they will play without having a clear idea if the powerlevel is balanced around the table. And how can you have an idea of the "balance of powelevel" only based on interpretation of how each deck owners presents their deck?
ihyd should not have rule 0 on screen imo. it’s meant for those who already understand the basic concepts of the game. will they just once show their commanders before the 10 minute mark, i miss the og episodes…

Thing is, Imp's Mischief only targets the spell, and the new target for the spell are actually chosen in resolution. From the Gatherer: "You choose the spell to target on announcement, but you pick the new target for that spell on resolution." It was not a mistake ^-^
I had no idea that Brode played magic I mean it makes sense that he lead Blizzard in essentially a magic clone, but wow I'm excited I loved him when he ran hearthstone
This is my favorite episode of the series. Everyone kind of got to do their thing- giant suspends, otk, massive nearly-free X spells. CGB definitely got the nuts draw though, in the order he needed his pieces. I don't know how many tutors he has in there but this seemed like a pretty lucky outing of the deck!
I really liked the post game wrap up. I've only seen that with the spike feeders before, and its a nice way to reflect on the plays past and make sure rule 0 goes well. Really nice touch. Also cool to see pronouns acknowledged too. Great vibe as always too, seems like you're doing everything you can to make anyone on the show comfortable, and that is a rare gift.
At least Dan knew how to play his deck properly. Many time on EDH shows someone pops off and has no clue how to win their decks cuz they downloaded a list without learning the deck. Great episode. It was very entertaining.

Hi, I mean no disrespect, genuinely curious, but what about including the pronouns in this episode made you feel represented? The table was full of people with the pronouns you'd expect from their outer appearance. So why would that make you feel represented?
@@megamarkread from what I understand, the goal is to normalize talking about pronouns so that people stop assuming pronouns. The othering takes place because of the assumptions. If we normalize declaring pronouns it creates a safe space for someone who goes by a different pronoun that the gender normative one to feel comfortable declaring their pronoun

@@georged366 yeah, because it’s absolutely pointless. Nobody gives a shit what you identify as. Almost 99% of the time gender does not come up at all in conversation. I’m going to assume whatever I want of you. If I’m unsure, I’ll just avoid saying him or her. Nobody needs instructions on how to talk to someone. You are either a dude or a gal. That’s it.

Hi, I mean no disrespect, genuinely curious, but what about including the pronouns in this episode made you feel represented? The table was full of people with the pronouns you'd expect from their outer appearance. So why would that make you feel represented?
@@megamarkread from what I understand, the goal is to normalize talking about pronouns so that people stop assuming pronouns.
The othering takes place because of the assumptions. If we normalize declaring pronouns it creates a safe space for someone who goes by a different pronoun that the gender normative one to feel comfortable declaring their pronoun

The vast majority of the time you would be correct in your assumptions, and if you're wrong it's not hard for someone to politely correct you with their preference. I don't see why everyone should change the way they converse for the convenience of a small minority of people.
Question : If Lynch and Emma had teamed up during Emma's turn and Lynch exiled Dan's board. Then kalia and master would have gotten through and maze could have save him from the last 1 DMG but they could have found a way to finish him, instead of giving him a winning turn ?
