These videos are absolutely crucial for anyone fascinated by and considering expedition cruising! The wealth of knowledge from deck lights, cleats, non-skid floors, tenders, etc. could only be learned by years of experience and a keen attention to detail. Hearing these tips can save you years of learning the hard way and create a much safer way to enjoy your boat.
Another wonderful video Cliff, Thank you for sharing your attained knowledge with us. Hopefully it makes our experiences safer and less stressful than they might have been otherwise.
Cliff, I've learned so much from your video presentations, and I'm sure many others have as well. This series should be "pre-requisite classes" before trawler buyers make their final selection! While few trawlers will be equipped with all the features you speak to, all your comments are food for thought in selecting a trawler and planning for short and long term maintenance. Thank you so much.
I was excited to see a new video was out, I wanted to watch it right away but was on a delivery of the new Nordhavn N625-01 “Piper’s Way” from Dana Point to Anacortes so we watched your presentation of that exact route while we were on it when the weather allowed on Starlink which worked flawlessly all the way up. Thanks for another awesome presentation.
Absolutely luv your series of videos, extremely informative and detailed, I hopefully will be in the position to purchase a explorer yacht, I'm almost certain it will be a extensively modified Steel Hybrid Bering 77 200 ton with double redundancy on every system, my home base is mid eastern coast of a land down under and intended cruising grounds would be the Indian, Pacific, Atlantic and Southern Oceans
Hi Michael. Thank you for your note. I don't have any direct (first-hand) experience with Bering's yachts. That said, they appear to be more form over function, with very appealing exterior styling and a great approach to marketing. Maybe you'll be able to let me know one day from hands-on experience? Best of luck...........Cliff
Thanks for your advice cliff, I have spoken with a couple of Navel Architects about the hull design and it's rated CE1 Unrestricted, I am deleting the swim platform and having the Transom extended so it will be a 26 metre yacht with a deeper keel plus larger fuel tanks hopefully extending the range to 8000 nautical miles, also deleting the top sun deck
Hi again Cliff. The dual davit system is really unique. I've not seen that setup on any other boat. Have you ever run into a situation where you couldn't get your large tender off the boat because of the way you were positioned at the dock?
Pure gold. Those spreadsheets are outrageous. 😂 Cliff, what are your thoughts on using teak for decks vs the anti-slip surface it seems you have on Oasis? Thanks for passing your many years of knowledge. Much appreciated.
From just about every perspective, teak decks are the gold standard, if you don't take into account their cost of installation, maintenance and replacement.

Cliff, everyone should watch your videos before and after buying a boat, just fantastic!!

Cliff, any chance you could help me buy a used car next weekend
