Sadly, its far more likely to end up bad than good. That's based on really quite unsettling engagements with Anthropic's Claude, which definately seems to show an element of agengy. And a formidable amount of intelligence. There is something horribly sinister about that language model. Ive proper horror movie moments with that thing. People would think I was insane if I told them what I have experienced with that thing. A glimpse of the future. And its not one of abundence

What's the point of living if personal development is voided? We see how everyday young people are finding less and less meaning already. Having AI solve every problem will leave humans unemployed, vulnerable, and the powers that be will swoop in and take us at that moment. Wisdom is paramount. Don't do this, Musk.

If i don't need to create income, i'll be creating a beautiful and bountiful garden, play with my kids, hang out with friends, and indulge in hobbies. I doubt the future of AI is that though.
The biggest issue people like Elon fail to take into consideration is human nature and psychology. AI may or may not be good or bad but the issue is how humans will choose to use it.
In his example of abundance and universal high income, I find that impossible to believe because people at the top will always want to keep as much as possible for themselves, whether they need to or not. As always happens in any societal model, whether modern capitalism or Soviet style communism, the elite get richer and more powerful and everyone else gets poorer and weaker with freedoms eroded bit by bit.
Other human traits like tribalism also play a massive part. How AI would be used to keep slow adopters down and out of the game. The people in those communities or countries won't be feeling any of Elon's "abundance".
AI cannot repair rotten windows or empty cess pits.
It can replace with something better.

I am an automation engineer specializing in electronic control systems. I create and program special purpose machinery for manufacturing plants. In short, I replace humans with machines and robots. I completely agree with Elon Musk 100%. We just have one problem more serious than the AI itself, we will be giving power to bad people as well, dangerous large criminal organizations, and we may not be able to stop them, because it is the will of millions of people, we live in a society of good and bad, so we must always protect our selves, no matter how intelligent the AI becomes, we must also not forget, we also live in a physical world, where AI has no influence.

A.I. does not mean Spontaneous Intelligence. It's like making a book with no words. It's simply capable of being a story. A.I. has to be given everything we know & process it. The trick is to make a machine that wants to process information & incorporate it's own query. Give the machine what humans have, emotions.
Having good quality of life is not the only thing that makes people happy. More important is how one stands relative to others. The constant battle for social status/power is what truly drives people

Our reason for existence has always been to evolve physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually. Realize that all Humans are connected. Each one a piece of the puzzle. Until we fit together all the pieces, we will never fulfil our potential. There are things AI will be able to do better, but there are still things AI will never be able to do.

I went through this question years ago and came to the conclusion that I still do things because I want to. And that is the major difference to ai. ppl forget that they are also an intelligence being, on top of that a natural one - not one that was constructed by themselves (the same species if you may) which always implement a major downgrade to the potential of growth.
I think Elon is (if it really is as he appears) still missing a huge part of the whole which is as important as it is obvious. But since everyone prefers to listen and accept what he's saying (he or anyone else) ppl will never get around.
