I do like the old soundtrack, but I think the new one fits the Nightmare Before Christmas theme much better! In my opinion, the old version of the soundtrack sounds like what they would have put in the attraction if they went with their original Charles Dickens Christmas Carol concept. Very cool, but the Danny Elfman vibe of the newer one fits more with what we have.
A few elements of this original version are still in today's overlay. They never changed the Stretching Room music, and the Attic music was moved to the end.
This is so cool to hear what the premiere version of this attraction sounds like! I'll definitly remember this when I finally will be able to experience haunted mansion holiday myself
Tbh this is WAY better than the one that plays to this day. It feels more spooky and I really hope they bring it back this year because of the refurbishment.
It’s the same case for me, but I am so confused on which part of the ride has the better music. Is the Original endless hallway better than the new song? It’s a little confusing
The superior soundtrack to this ride. Now most of it is just different arrangements of “Kidnap the Sandy Claws”. Much more thought went into this music blending scariness and Christmas melodies and it really shows in the seance chamber and ballroom themes.
Did this mix come from a specific version of the pictured album? I purchased it digitally through iTunes and it has the later orchestration music instead. Does the physical version of the album have the original track, or is this a rarer track to own?
This version is only available on the Disneyland 50th Anniversary boxed set, “A Musical History of Disneyland.” This is on the sixth and final disc, spotlighting the seasonal attractions. This is labeled the “Premiere Edition”. This score, by Gordon Goodwin, only lasted two years, but there are some elements that stayed in to this day, like the Stretching Room, and the Attic Music, which now plays at the exit of the ride. The current score is written by John Debney, and adds in elements of music by Danny Elfman.
This is really cool to hear! But I honestly prefer the current soundtrack. With the Danny Elfman elements it really makes it feel like NBC while the premiere version falls a little flat in some parts. I do wish they kept this version’s ballroom music, though! The creepy version of Carol of the Bells is perfect for that scene!
Here’s my opinion. I like the new version better because it fits Danny Elfman’s style and the Nightmare Before Christmas theme as a whole. The reason why I like the old version of the soundtrack is because to me, it sounds like the music they would’ve put in the attraction if they had done their Charles Dickens Christmas Carol version like they had first planned. Overall, I like every version of the music.
The seance room and ballroom music is so much better in this soundtrack. My main complaint with the Elfman one is that it’s mostly just different arrangements of “Kidnap the Sandy Claws.” Goodwin’s score has a true Christmas-gone-scary feel.
I get why they changed the music to be more Elfman inspired, but did they have to have the most annoying song in the whole movie (Kidnap the Sandy Claws) score the entire ride?
@@imaginatenation3697 I suppose that I should have said it's the most annoying * in my opinion * ... But it IS basically the song equivalent of "nah-nah-nah-nah" from three bratty kids over and over. Blame "Oogie's Revenge." That game really soured me on those three and their song.
@@breenotcheese746 I don't hate all of the new one, but it feels a lot more like "Nightmare took over the Mansion" than "the Mansion has Christmas with Jack." Since I love both Nightmare and the Haunted Mansion ride, I prefer the latter idea. It's an overlay, not a new ride.
I miss the old soundtrack. So glad they didn’t remove scary teddy singing and giggling because it warms my heart to hear it every time

It's still strange to know that 9/11 happened just as this overlay started
Quite.
Concerning..
I honestly prefer the new music, but damn that graveyard music is so freaking good
Same
the version at tokyo disneyland uses the original graveyard music!
I like how I am still listening to this in May
Your not the only one. 😁😁😁
I'm listening to this in June
I guess September is somewhat of an exception
I'm listening to this in April lol.
July, actually
Best ride at disney ever
Way spookier than how it is now. Wish it was still like this
Yeah the current one’s soundtrack is just movie nostalgia.
A few elements of this original version are still in today's overlay. They never changed the Stretching Room music, and the Attic music was moved to the end.
They did once for a short while.......on.soundcloud.com/LEZGE
13:05 The Hearse Chorus is the best.
Kind of a missed opportunity to bring the old music back just for this year
Maybe the'll bring it back next year for the film's 30th anniversary.

This was only used year 1 (before they got the rights to the music). Of course now they own it
No! Classic HM is better than ANY variation of HMH.
@@Crimson_Snake1 HM is a classic, but what about PM ?
@@louabi7581 PM is fantabulous. Of course.
Ookk!
Imagine what would happen if everything in haunted mansion holiday came alive

casualties and lawsuits
The toys would kill everyone
Lots of paperwork

I miss this soundtrack to the ride. I hope they will bring this back some year

😲😊😀😀😀😁
The fact that it’s mostly just different arrangements of “Kidnap the Sandy Claws” feels kinda… lazy.
Could you do a loop of the music that plays at the bottom of the stretching room
Wish there’s an album on UA-cam of songs that includes “The Mansion Tree” and “Up On The House Top”.
I believe its the current version? I might be wrong
@@imaginatenation3697 Yeah, the one I mentioned is not on UA-cam.

This is super rare
It was the original soundtrack until 2003

the superior soundtrack. idk why they changed it
The story goes that after the success of the first year, Danny Elfman, who owned the music, gave Disney the rights to use the music.

Totally agree. I find the "new" soundtrack to be really uninspired and samey throughout, whereas this version gives each area its own vibe.
