Thank you for sharing! I needed to hear the ending for sure, nothing is by accident. Amen and Hallejuah. I'm a PTA but I have a vast knowledge of the human body beyond physical therapy and I've always had a desire to help people heal, I designed a facility that encompasses spiritual, mental, emotional and physical therapies providing a full-body healing experience. I kept trying to get "in network" but God keeps redirecting me because I truly focus on the root issue with my patients. I go as far as getting their bloodwork and designing a program that truly heals them....far beyond simply physical therapy. I'm just struggling with the faith to go full blown cash based but this video catapulted that faith for sure! Thank you so much again be blessed 🙏
Justin, thank you for being a light in this career. I am a current student applying to a DPT program this summer and hearing your purpose and sharing your heart is encouraging to me since I am also a follower of Christ trying to build my career as a PT. Keep up the good work and may God continue to bless you as you help, heal, and be a light for his kingdom.
Man, I enjoyed your video. But when you opened up about why you do what you do, my respect just grew 100 fold for you. I'm about to start DPT school in May, and that's exactly why I'm pursuing this career, is to work for Jesus.
So, you only "serve" those who can afford your rates. That excludes a lot of people. The problem is the healthcare financing model of our country that privileges profits to insurance companies. They will say they promote efficiency but only for the sake of ensuring corporate profits. The cash based and insurance based models are both flawed.
Thank you for this knowledge! I had a predetermined mindset that the sports medicine professionals are going to be the bridge for the Fitness and Healthcare industry! I'm ready to get into my Doctorate program next year
Sept 2023 Typically when you become a PT, you will work in an insurance based model In cashed-based PT, you just walk in and they treat you then and there In cashed-based PT, you spend 1 hour with the person and they get undivided attention Pros of starting cashed-based You aren’t constrained by insurance of number of sessions or where you can work Cons People are paying a lot money, so you have to have the highest levels of service “Why should I come to you instead of going through insurance?” You have to be able to answer this, how you can convince them, if your product is better
So you’re top 2 cons involved doing your job as a PT. How are those cons? Being on your A game is what you’re expected to provide whether you’re in cash practice or not.
Thanks man. In PT school now. Would love an update on why you left HI and some other things about PT career there. Considering travel PT there… cost of living, haole newcomer experience, etc… thanks!
Yeah man! I’ve been wanting to post a video on that transition. Long story short, we got pregnant and family lives in Cali.. so it just made sense. Doing travel, PT over there can be a fun experience! Just go with the mindset that you are not going to make a profit but more gain life experiences
This is absolutely awesome Justin. I don’t think I could connect anymore to your passion as I do now. I’m a Christ follower through and through and it’s what makes me strive as a clinician. I’m actually Asian as well 🤣. I’m a PTA (5 years now) and just got in DPT school and I am hoping to potentially practice in a cash base setting 3-5 years down the road. I was just wondering do you use any MDT or Maitland type of therapy?
While I do agree with your content to some extent I’m not a huge fan of the downplay of PTAs ability, not sure about the practice act in your state but where I am we do a lot not just “run them through their exercise list”. Modalities, manual therapy, mostly everything that’s not an eval.
Wow this is a beautiful video, love how informative this is. These are topics that aren't really discussed in the landscape of our healthcare system. Really hope that more people can listen to this!

Thanks for opening up man! Good to see more Christians! Also the video was very helpful! Keep lifting for change Brother 💪🔥
We’ll done man. What a great example of our true purpose as physical therapists. Thanks for making this video
Thank you for all you do and share Justin. Keep being a good steward and fighting the good fight, my Dear Brother in Christ.

Thanks for sharing about your faith Justin! I’m a Christian too and your words were poignant.
Always love meeting a fellow brother or sister in Christ on UA-cam! Thank you for your encouragement!
Dude
Interesting, But it’s just basically what health care providers do.
Yes…. But without insurance..
Which documentation system do you use?
I saw how much PTs get paid from insurance...👀💀💀💀 I said never again unless I have a broken leg lol Edit: PTA was almost as much as the PT.
PTAs are not techs 😂 but nice video.
