You don't know how you helped me. You just saved me. 100 duck eggs are not fertile.its been 3 days incubating those. Finally got your video.and those eggs are not going to waste gonna enjoy testy recipes 😊. I pray for you
Great help. Got some eggs from my uncle with chickens and rooster. Saw the markings while cooking them up and I can let him know now that he can raise baby chickens, which is his goal.
This method of cracking the egg open is only good when you sacrifice one egg just to see if your rooster is fertile. Candling the egg is still the best to not sacrifice an egg and to tell how good your rooster is at spreading his seed around the ladies based on how many eggs start to develope which means those eggs were fertile even if they don't hatch. Every egg fertilized doesn't alway hatch. Could be other factors like, disease, genetics in the parents, contamination in the egg or on the egg or the incubator itself, temperature, storage of the eggs just to name some.
I raise both Quail and chickens. We happen to eat our eggs as well as raise for meat. So cracking an egg and looking at it before I toss it into a pan seems much easier than incubating 12 eggs and them rotting. If one chose to, they could simply look at all the eggs they cracked before eating them and getting an average rather than waiting to candle or hatch. I have many male Quail who service only 4 females a piece. They are well regulated and watched. I know which male breeds every single female and mark each egg. I understand your point, but, I find my way less demanding.
you haveto test a few before you can start putting them under a chicken to hatch if you check one after the next 10days the eggs should be fertile without hatching them
Thank you. I had a rooster with 2 hens that has been laying for 3 week, also today i was given a 2 year old rooster and 8 year and half old hens. The roosters are fighting so separated them now i need to see if my young rooster is fertile or not and decided which rooster to keep and which to eat.
That kid grabbed his rooster my rooster will start running at me when I get 20 feet close to the coop Update: the rooster is now in the freezer and has 2 sons and 1 grandson that took over, out of the 5 roosters 3 are related to him and only one is mean like him, 2 are defensive but not mean. (He had one son in the past that was bad on the hens but was nice to us, he is also in the freezer)
if you have a rooster and the hens have been with that rooster for more then a couple of days and its spring summer or autumn the eggs will more then likely be fertile cheers
I don't understand why you would show the first method most people if they want to know if a egg is fertile or not it's because they want to hatch it not waste perfectly good protein
So for me when I want to know if my girls have fertile eggs with new rooster etc I'll cracked some into a pan to fry up if I get all eggs over say 3 days of eggs like that then I know the rest I can keep to incubate no waste as we eat the eggs we check

@featherndownhomestead4045 not necessarily... i hate running incubator for duds
Ok we’ll the only other way is to candle the eggs after a few days like I did in the video I can’t see any other way
I don't understand why you would show the first method most people if they want to know if a egg is fertile or not it's because they want to hatch it not waste perfectly good protein
Just for a shelled visual. obviously you wouldn't want to put an egg with any sort of cracks into your incubator 😂
Because Men Now and Days Say They Identify As A Women & Say He Can Have Babies & Menstrual!
So for me when I want to know if my girls have fertile eggs with new rooster etc I'll cracked some into a pan to fry up if I get all eggs over say 3 days of eggs like that then I know the rest I can keep to incubate no waste as we eat the eggs we check
How can you tell withought breaking them open🤣🤣🤣
you can't lol if you have a rooster and you crack a few and they are fertile for the next few weeks all your eggs should be fertile

What about if you want to hatch it?
if you want to hatch your eggs do a fertility check a week before you want to hatch your eggs then start storing eggs for your incubator.
@@featherndownhomestead4045 Ok thank you!
@@featherndownhomestead4045 how do you store eggs till ready for the incubator?
can you eat fertile eggs?
Yes, but it means that chick would never hatch
