XJS Progress! Convertible Top is Working!

- Big progress this week on the XJS. It took quite a bit of work, but the roof is working! We are excited to share how we resolved this issue with everyone. This is just in time for the cooler weather where we can really enjoy the car!

It's possible to move the top Up and Down manualy by turning the bypass valve on top of the pump.
We didnt try that in our process, but we did see the valve you mentioned. We will take a look at that next time the car is out.
Those XJR's were, are and foreverrrrr will be some of the most beautiful Jags EVER built!!!

Great video, I’m going to look at a 1996 XJS very soon, how long do those cylinders last?
I also own a 96 XJS convertible celebrity edition painted in Carnival Red. These cars are truly headturners. Really enjoyed watching your videos, and keeping in mind that I may have to do some repairs down the road. I do have 1 question, I found the drain tube from the hydraulic disconnected, and have no idea where to connect it to. Any idea? Thanks
i didn't replace the rams, i just stripped them down and changed the ''O'' rings. takes about ten minutes. also replaced the roof as mine was torn, now there's a job. looks fantastic but not easy.
Thankfully our top is near perfect! Phew!

Do you hear your pump running? Take the cover off in the back right of the trunk and see if you get power to the pump when you actuate the top switch.
Also, to lower the top the car needs to be in park, with the emergency brake on, foot on brake, and ignition on.
I just bought a 94 and I have a hydraulic leak on the stack and I was wondering what hydraulic fluid you used it like you were using power steering fluid but the fluid in my car is clear can you please tell me what you used
We used ATF! Good luck
when you cycled it to get the air out, do you leave the cap off the hydraulic reservoir? Thanks
We left the cap on and the air would return to the reservoir and the fluid level would decrease. We would periodically top the system up until it was at the full line and no air came out.
Hey man. My signals aren’t working but my hazards do. What Can I do to fix this? Same for wipers
