"I definitely would have one"... Just one problem Sweden does not via law let you have wild animals like pets... To be honest, let them be wild. I think that's the best. Love from Sweden...

Perfect, I'm convinced! That's exactly what I was looking for, an adorable and untrainable kleptomaniac who I can pet until it tries to steal my phone and I end up with one less nose in my face without the ability of calling for emergency services. Thanks, guys!
But, really, this was a really funny video 😂 And a great way to show people why, while cute, they're really reallyyy not pets.

Brilliant video guys....absoloutely hilarious and it had me laughing and smiling from start to finish and Im convinced I need a dozen of them....who doesn't need an aggressive Robin Hood in their lives eh lol x
I come out with random facts about all sorts of animals now thanks to you....I could sit an exam about alligators Im sure lol x
I have gained such a respect and understanding for the animalls you look after and think your doing God's work!
Its obvious you love what you do and the sanctuary and the animals that live there but wow you both must be exhausted as I can see its a 24/7 job but I do envy it in lots of ways! X

Thank you for the realistic video about Coatimundis... there is another channel in here that has gone CRAZY with animal acquisitions. One of "their pets" is a Coatimundi and all we see is his adorable he is... he a baby and he IS TOTALLY CUTE... They have NO IDEA what they've gotten themselves into. Thank you for making this video. Love you guys!

My hubby had 2 Coati’s when I met him. They were 6 year old sisters. We NEVER encountered any of these issues..lol. They were the sweetest little girls, very curious and loved to play. They were never aggressive with anyone. He did raise them from babies so maybe that’s why we didn’t have these issues? They did eat a lot which was costly. Ours loved eggs, papaya, different fruit and veggies, meat on occasion. Best pets we ever had!

"Get out of my butt"... that cracked me up.
Lets be honest... they do look cute and can be cute... really cute... but like you said, most wild animals are like that and they can all tear you apart.

Good message! Exotic vets are hard to find and you pay out the wazoo for their knowledge. One of my rabbits recently had gut stasis secondary to bladder sludge. Two nights at the exotic vet was $3000. And it was caused by her diet. She was eating as recommended but this particular rabbit needed a lower calcium diet. You can do everything right and still have surprises that cost a ton.

    • @CommonCentrist82

Thank you for educating us!

Even just having squirrels that should be in the wild, can get hard!! I’ve had to raise them at three different times in life where they’ve been found on the ground and not retrieved from their mom. They were all males and each one, when they reached their “ I want a female” stage…. Could attack and bite others besides myself. Only because I bottle fed them all. Our last one got ahold of my husband really bad and I felt awful. I slowly released each of them when their time came but also had to make sure it was the right season. They r really adorable when they r younger and sometimes we have to help out when there’s no other option. But wild animal’s definitely belong in the wild. It’s not fair to keep adult, wild animals caged up if they can be released. Thank u guys for your education, sacrifice and hard work. Ppl don’t get that when u buy exotics, u rob them from living a life of being free and most end up in sanctuaries, zoos or tossed in the outdoors and aren’t capable of surviving 😪

This really reminded me of people who see baby foxes or fennec foxes and wild cats such as caracals, which unfortunately have become very popular on UA-cam by people who do have them. It's both frightening and sad.
You all brought up a point that I wanted to ask regarding your coatis as they mature. I read that when female coatis reach sexual maturity, they tend to gang up on any males in an effort to shun them from their band. If I recall your last video, I remember one of the babies is male. Any thoughts on how you might handle a situation should it arise? Great work and fantastic advice on the nature of these magnificent creatures.

This is one of your funniest videos! Ya know? I don't have any questions about the Coatis.. This has to do with you guys. I've watched literally hundreds of your videos for many years. I feel like I know you...but i don't. We just see a glimpse into your world but it's always such a joyous glimpse. You seem to have such a great connection...the happy energy you send out to us is not able to be feigned. I'd like to know how you two met and things like how long you've been a
"Mated Pair". I'm thinking it's probably a very exciting story like you were on an exotic safari and your jeep broke down and your guide was eaten by lions and you had to survive, just the 2 if you against the wild Savannah.. ok.. i know that's crazy but i really would love to learn how YOU-2 did happen. CYour love for each other can just be felt when you two are doing stuff together, apart, but together. Sometimes there's not a bunch of talking or interacting... you're just there... with each other. It's moments like.. well.. this video about serious stuff in a very fun way. . Chris zigs and Gabby Zags... always in synch, rarely out of rhythm, always at the same tempo. Sometimes I watch your videos not for the gator training or to watch chris feed those yummy fruit bowls that Gabby makes with SOOO MUCH LOVE AND THOUGHT! I watch them to just watch you guys. It makes me smile. Oh man Gabby. I forget to say this. . Your meals are beyond.. nutritious... that would be easy. The time and effort and care that goes into every slice and chopped piece of fruit and variety you put into each and every bowl 2m3,4 times a day! They look, and taste, amazing. I could live on your food bowls no problem. Even the baby food!😅 ok.. that's it. I do hope you catch this comment. I know you have thousands of fans with a bunch of comments. You've answered a couple of mine and I was so thrilled 🎊🎉I'm sure I'm not the only person who would like to hear your story. ❤ so please think about it ok? 👍 bye 👋

I would consider animals like prairie dogs and coatimundi to be semi domesticated, sure they’re not fully domesticated like a dog or cat, but they’re also not straight from the wild, and likely to be several generations captive bred if someone does decide they want one, after they’ve done research of course

Prairie dogs I get but not these as they are a lot more wild and even dangerous. I even agree with something like Sugar gliders. The main thing is that most exotic pets require large enclosures and not providing that is cruel.

I think you missed our other video talking about how 90% of prairie dogs in the pet trade are caught from the wild and they’re rarely bred in captivity!

@@FloridasWildest I agree with that is bad. I was just commenting on how the animals in the video didn't make good pets due to their behavior while Prairie Dogs were more suitable in that aspect. That they are mostly wild caught bothers me, even if I object even more to poorly kept breeding farms.

@@znail4675 I was responding to the original comment saying they’re somewhat domesticated and captive bred for years !

@@FloridasWildest interesting indeed 🧐, I’ll admit I don’t know as much about the mammal trade as much as I do the reptile trade, so there was some amount of assumption there, I guess I just assumed that there was a good degree of captive breeding going on, you guys are educational as always, keep up the good work 👍

What about their “cousins” the kinkajous? Do you have any descendants of released pets in your area? Back in the dark ages (1970s) a neighbor had an odd couple - a kinkajou and a monkey of some kind. By modern standards of wildlife handling their was appalling. They monkey was kept on a long leash strung between two trees where, for fun he’d launch himself at you. Sometimes the kinkajou would also be on a long leash. The female kinkajou was a sweetheart and the male monkey was a mean SOB and attempted to mate with her. I felt sorry for the kinkajou. This was in the Seattle area.
