I preferred £300 Garmin GPS watch and £1,300 for holiday golf trips
Spend £200 on a decent range finder and the other £1400 on lessons
I love the look of this watch, the concept and function are also really good to the point I would buy this. My question would be will this be outdated in a year or two ? Seems like a lot of money to spend on a watch that will potentially be ‘old school’ in 2 years time, do tag update the tech on them to keep up with the times ?
Really like this premium brand effort will need some more work. It's feature packed watch, agree the lines and overview of the hole on the app should give Garmin a run for their money. Pity about the maps bunker issue but you right it's minor. Brilliant review, how does it compare with S60.
I bought the Tag Heuer Super Mario Edition. Paid a little above retail on the Grey market. No smart watch is really worth that price. But it is lovely.
Wouldn’t buy it myself, Garmin or Apple do the same thing for a lot less. It seemed to have a view bugs, Great review.
Does the watch or the app feature advanced strokes gained statistics?
I just watched a review from a private individual who is not connected to a magazine or anyone in the industry. Main flaw not shown here is that the guy went to work and used it only as wrist watch during the day. He then played a round with it at 3:00PM. It was already at only 60% by then. It died completely before he finished the front 9. I ask you, what the hell use it this watch????? Buy a Garmin S62.

My wife purchased for me at Christmas. The watch looks really great but performs terribly. I had to bring it back to Tag Heuer’s store multiple times and they finally replaced it as there was some sort of technology issues. The battery doesn’t make a full round of golf and the Tag Heuer Golf App doesn’t have updated courses in the software. Some of the premium golf courses in South Florida I tried to use it on were renovated over 5 years ago and they still had the old course design in the app (i.e. Medalist Golf Club - Tiger Woods home course, Floridian Golf Club - Bruce Keopka’s home course, Old Palm Golf Club - Ray Floyd’s home course and Greg Norman, etc.). So as a golf watch it’s no good and I would not purchase it!
does this work on the driving range ?
I like TAG and love golf, so yes, I would pay for this watch.
Great review .. but cant justify that price, when a smart phone is just as good, and a range finder is more accurate.
£1600 it better take my shots for me, in seriousness if you want this kind of activity/golf watch the Garmin Venu is a decent bit of kit! £330
I would , however only if the off course features (aka everyday apps including the actual watch) are equally as impressive as the golf app itself.
If used the app on my phone and before when it was the fun golf app. Features are great but it is expensive as a golf watch BUT it isn’t a golf watch it’s a very smart watch with a golf app. Flick the switch and the face options are really good and high end looking and all the other connections to google that you get. You don’t get that from a garmin or a laser distance finder.
And afterwards you have a great looking chronograph looking watch so leave the Rolex at home until you go home. Saves switching watches after a game. The value in this watch is as a watch and not a golf watch.
agree completely. This is a high end time piece, not specifically a golf watch. I would add this comment tho. It's a smart watch and by definition, the tech will be dated within a few years. ie. apple watches, etc. This is a lot of money to spend on something that could be functionally obsolete within a few years. I also have a Rolex that is 2 decades old and it's still as much as a timeless classic today as when I bought it. Something to consider.
@@hhanger1 I have the Connected, but not the golf edition (I am not a golfer, but ended up on this video out of curiosity if the golf app was as impressive as the rest of the watch) and this is a valuable thing to point out. While expensive, it is indeed a smartwatch first and WILL suffer tech issues not just with date, but after several years you will have battery issues. I was ok with this when I bought mine because I love Tag as a brand and the style and feature set, but when people say it is way too much for a smart watch, I agree with them. It is something you have to want for it to really be worth it, and understand it isn't going to hold value like a mechanical watch.

I got the non golf edition when it came out and installed the software on it. It’s the same watch with a different bezel. It’s really good but I’ve found that it’s really touch and go on battery life at the end of 18 holes if you use the gps in the watch. It’s my only real complaint.
You can use the app without the watch, there is even an Apple Watch app....so why spend £1600 ?
The Watch looks great, but I Think the battery life is a complete showstopper. I have a Garmin Fenix 6X which works for approximately 15 days before having to recharge.
Giving distance to the front and back of the green is essential..

Would pay the price if money wasn't a concern, but have to agree other alternatives out there for a more reasonable cost.
It’s not a golf watch. It’s tag heuer’s premium smart watch. It just HAPPENS to be the version of their smart watch that has their golf app built in. I think you guys are completely missing the mark on the product. It’s not a competitor to the garmin and golf buddy’s, it’s a competitive offering for a smart watch from a premium brand. It’s been around a long time, this is version 3 or 4 already.

All these things to “help” folks that buy them, yet they take hours to get round the course in 100 shots..

So much blabla. Repeating. Why not show simply stuff and main gadget how to use n click (?) hole and how counting score?? They prior thing is missed! Failed!
