- Piers Morgan Uncensored is joined by former Miss USA and Miss Universe Sarah Rose Summers, former Miss Croatia Ivana Knoll and journalist and feminist Julie Bindel to discuss and debate whether bringing back swimwear rounds to beauty pageants is a good idea and whether they propagate sexism within society.
Julie explains that historically beauty pageants with bikini segments have contributed to sexism, as they historically have women competing against each other whilst being judged by a panel of men. Sarah disagrees, explaining that in her most recent competition, the panel of judges were all successful women within the industry. Piers also adds that both men and women watch bikini pageants and that there is nothing wrong with admiring beautiful women.

I was in the miss uk competitions when I was 20 in 1999 I came second in the photo graphic competition for miss south London I was in the south London press
I did a cat walk in the competition for charity to raise money for baby’s that needed equipment for holes in their hearts the proceeds went to the hospital
I’m proud I was able to show off my looks and body and helped to raise money for charity and as a women I felt empowered being able to be an ambassador for my country and for where I was from in south London
It does not belittle women in any way

I am a natural, biological, normal and straight adult female, also known as a woman. I used to loooove watching Miss Universe with my mum and sisters back in the day! It was a beauty competition and I loved the bikini section as much as the other categories. I don’t watch it any more because it’s too woke. The most beautiful doesn’t win but the one that is more up up-to-date with the “woke” trend of the day😖 Thank goodness I live in a beach town now and we all wear bikinis, even me at my age 😉

Looking at the 2 Miss Pageant, one can clearly see the hard work , determination and sacrifice to achieve such high beauty standards. These qualities transcend onto the work place, businesses etc… Many women will resent these 2 ladies because of the competitive aspect even as it also relates to mate selection.
If you ever watch daytime tv, things like Emmerdale or even breakfast tv or adverts between shows you'll see men totally topless. Never ever see a woman totally topless on these programmes. I think it's double standards because I'd rather see a woman topless, but I don't complain.

From my experience people that defend this overly-sensitive way of thinking usually don't look great in a bikini or shirtless, like the Ms London lady in this video. The reason is quite obvious. As someone who has grown up almost exclusively around women, these standards are NOT created by men. Beauty standards are created by women. They are 1,000,000x more interested in beauty and competing with each other.

Standards of desirability are set by those you wish to attract. In this case, women seek to attract men, and thus men are the final say in what's beautiful and what isn't.
Women might love to pretend they set the standard for each other, but that's just a cope.
The woman other women might label the most beautiful is almost never the one men would pick as most beautiful. Their standard is not only flawed but entirely irrelevant.

Beauty pageant contestants can’t have children, must not be married and must seem “virtuous”. The whole ordeal is creepy and even during her reign she still has to be “virtuous”. This competition celebrates the worlds most beautiful looking women but it doesn’t want mothers which to me is so wrong. Also contestants are known for cosmetic surgery and I think that’s cheating, the most beautiful women in the world should be naturally beautiful. If they do bring bikini modelling back in pageants then I hope no one wears those bikini bottoms that go right up the crack, I seriously hate those.

As a man I’ve never watched beauty pageant and never heard of a man saying he watches it too. This old woman is just jealous about these women living their best life
I don’t think she is jealous. I’d rather believe she is against the beauty competition because of some legit reasons which I don’t have time to elaborate here. I am not a fan of those competitions, nor do I believe ‘all sizes are beautiful/healthy’.
Who are you to say that attractive women should not take advantage of their assets to get a free pass in life? Why should they forego that privilege? Everyone wins, as long as these women accept that beauty is temporary. They must use it properly and not develop a sense of entitlement after they hit the wall.
Julie, OPEN your ears!! The Miss USA winner said her entire judging panel was made up of WOMEN. Harping back to the 60's is pointless, and we need to push how men treat women in every day scenarios! My wife and I used to watch the competitions together, and comment differently on most of the women taking part.

Yes! I felt sorry for the blonde woman when she said that she'd been competing since she was 10. Although I don't agree with Bindel at all, it did kind of make her argument that some are brainwashed into it. The only thing that needs to be asked is, are the participants happy? Are they ok with bikini's, with being judged in the pageants and if they don't win do they feel bad less self worthy.

the thing about beauty is that you dont get to decide if youre beautiful or not, thats up to everyone else. its a lot like sarcasm, you can say "im just sarcastic, thats my humor" but if everyone else just thinks youre an asshole, then youre an asshole. you can be proud of your looks no matter what, but if everyone else says youre ugly, then youre just ugly

She didn't win Miss Universe actually. She placed in the Top 20. She didn't place at Miss Teen USA before that. There were more beautiful girls at Miss USA that should've won than Sarah Rose Summers, imo. They're not really competitions but who the organization wants to have the title for that year and for 2018, they wanted Sarah. At Miss Teen USA, they wanted other girls than Sarah.
