- The Creeks quikly transformed into commercial hunters once the French and British penetrated the south eastern region. With this, came the deer skin trade. In todays video, I'm going to show a few trade goods a creek may have on his person headed into the winters hunt. Hope y'all enjoy!

Wonderful that you are doing this, amazing how our grandfathers were at times on both sides of the conflict, Civil War I had one on the Union side as a Commander in Missouri and another as a soldier with Creek Mounted Inf essentially under Stand Watie. Keep up the good work. Thank You.

I was surprised about the knife and fork. I realize that as deer hunters the Creek could easily trade for them but surprised that they adopted them. Regarding your bow, I suspect that shorter bows became more popular as bows were relegated to small game hunting with the adoption of firearms for hunting deer and other large game. Excellent presentation.

Are you a member of a living history group? I'm from south eastern Louisiana. I have been trying to find some like minded living historians.
No Native American Tribe had cotton or wool shirts, scarfs, crotch flaps, leg wraps etc... until they had contact with Europeans. All NA's wore clothes made out of skins, woven grasses/barks/feathers, and other natural materials.

Did the Creeks keep livestock &/or do farming from March up until the hunting season began?
Yes and no. According to the time period they would’ve had livestock

He was from Scotch Irish / Creek descent hence the last name Berryhill. Our family of Berryhill's reside today on the reservation in Okmulgee OK. So, I think he would be thrilled.
This is good info but needs to be told by federally recognized natives who can actually speak for their own tribe instead of someone from the outside looking in, repeating the same history other white people have been told and using what they can find other places to tell our "history". We need tribal members dressed in their traditional clothing Instead of some white guy dressing up
Unfortunately, recognized tribal members typically don’t do living history or have the collection that living historians do. I may not be recognized on the roll of Creek membership, but I have creek blood on both sides of my family with family members living on reservations today in Oklahoma. I feel very confident in speaking on the topic. Thanks for the comment 👍🏼
