i'm sure no one on earth will ever read this but yes, 8 months later, it's still absolutely stunning. level 10 songwriting and execution
I read it. I’m not much of a musician, but I know great songs and talent when I hear it.
Read it. 8 months later
Just discovered this artist…❤
😊🎉❤
Listened to this song when I was driving through Oregon along the Columbia River.... Time off work, bags packed, truck on cruise.... Such a good show... Love to you, Both.
My favorite song so far on the new album. Relaxing 70's vibe. I'm ready for the ride the whole Watchhouse band is now taking us on 😌. Thanks to all of you.
This is one of those songs which upon discovering it, I had replay numerous times in a row to savour it fully. This is a uniquely beautiful song about the profound absorbtion of parenthood. I particularly love the melody change from 1:46. Watchhouse are a really special band. I hope their deep well of creativity never runs dry.
RD1 CR-V is the star of the video :D One of the best little SUV's ever made, and definitely the most fun vehicle I ever owned. Only thing that could improve the video is if they incorporated the built in picnic table lol The song is pretty great too!
Oh my God! Beautiful, I love It . Emily’s voice is as sweet as ever, themusic and the storyline of the video and it’s presentation is exquisite . Thankyou
My first grandchild was born on your birthday Emily one year ago. Lovely lyrics reflecting becoming parents, just as my daughter did. 'you've known me all your life, swear I've missed you all of mine, now you're here I'll always be right by your side'. Beautiful.
I wrote the same in another comment. This is a love song that parents have for their children. But that is not reflected in the video. A pity that the label has chosen a broader theme to attract more audiences instead of reflecting the meaning that Andrew and Emily wanted to give it.
Can’t wait to see Watchhouse at Red Rocks Sunday!!!
LOVE, love, love these folks! We enjoy each and every song they produce. Thankfully we have been enjoying their music for years! Cannot wait to see you AGAIN in Bellingham WA. this coming February 2022. SO EXCITED!!!!
Well THAT was an unexpected delight.
I've had this song on loop for days - so beautiful and real I love Watchhouse!
Sitting, 3rd row.. Ryman Auditorium, Nashville. Octbor.. uhh. 2 years ago? One of the first few times they performed this song live. I couldn't begin to describe how it fell kn ears. Absolutely gorgeous.. not before or since, anything near
zero level of fucking around in this band. All 4 of these new songs that you've been putting out have been stunning and quite honestly I'm actually really glad to have had some time between each one to give each it's due. please don't stop doing what you're doing, if anything you are just now hitting your stride and there is no ceiling. thank you both
huh. really?
@@NasuMeji really. this band operates on a very high level.
oh man i agree 100% seeing them live sealed the deal. these folx are serious, and seriously talented. soo excited for their next release and west coast tour (santa cruz
I agree with everything commented upon. And more! FIRST: I haven’t felt this way about another “band” since THE BAND! Yeah, that’s right! You both have OLD SOULS! And taking the time to take a closer look is something Old Souls do very well. Isn’t that good? And, how about life? You both have had more than enough for being your age! But, your responses to the past (4-5?) few years are well reasoned, broadly based, and informed by your beliefs. Can’t beat that combination. Don’t try! Unless you want to. Keep on doing what you believe. You are as welcome, and needed, as ever. Likelihood is needed more! Thank you for taking us along for the ride. Take care of each other. Last count that was 4?
Beautiful song has so much souI,love mandolin orange ,the grass roots bring on a 90s alternative feel , this just blew my mind🤙
Beautiful!! Y'alls music is so inspiring I can't stop listening or adding dulcimers acoustic and electric to it congratulations on the name change I dont understand why people freak out about that stuff!! Great album as always!!! After all its y'all's band!!!!
Looking forward to the new album as the three songs available so far are really good. Love this one in particularly.
This new album is much different than what you,ve done in the past..you seem to get better each new album. You did a great job on this one .thanx.
Sent chills through my body - magical when music has that effect
great song. ready to see you at Duling Hall in Jackson MS or Tipitina's in New Orleans. Come back!
Saw them live over Labor Day Weekend. They brought the house down at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. They were off the charts good- on a completely another level. Keep up the great work "Watchouse" '-- you guys are awesome live, Ryman Auditorium The Mother Cburch
A half dozen times for me over the last couple of years. Just amazing music. December in Brooklyn will be the next time for me.
I love this song. The video too. Quite amazing.
Knocking this out of the park!
This song and video are stunning. @Elizabeth Weinberg
This song is everything... I've heard it 100 times and it always stops me in my tracks.
I understand growth and change - You folks can go forward to whatever heights there are out there - Some will be left behind, yet others will find you and follow you as you obtain those new heights and directions.
Will you still perform numbers from your M.O. past, or will they just be Golden Embers in the Night?
To thine own self be true.
Dig it.
So nice!😊
A very unique act. Pls stay that way. Don't try to be part of a movement that everyone else is riding.
Found them by accident recently. Really love the little worlds song. Lol but I'm kind of confused... are they called watchhouse or mandolin orange ? Or both ?
Love it
Brilliant
Little bit of guitar grit! I like it.
The boiiii and ma gurllllll
el triunfo de emily!
Good song and fair video, wishing you the best for your new album but, please don't forget the music that brought you all the thousands of fans in the first place.
Love mandolin orange🍊 idk about watchtower band.
Sounds like falling in love.
Neil Young vibes
Love when Emily sings....bummer u canceled Levons
I was looking forward to that too! I actually tweeted at them and they responded. They said that they didn’t cancel, the dates weren’t ever supposed to be posted, so it’s sounds like it might be the venue’s fault. They’ll be back
The intimacy of the duo/trio was something special to me along with the Mandolin Orange name for all these years. Wish them well and respect their decision, but Bonny Light Horseman is my substitute for MO these days (ironic that Josh Kaufman is their producer).
Can anyone recommend similar songs?
First Aid Kit has a “similar” sound. Faye Webster But Not Kiss. Neko Case Hold On Hold On.
Its okay. I need more mandolin... More cowbell lol
3:10 Buckingham Nicks
If I could click like again, I would.
This song is so Gordon Lightfootish
Love the song! The video....doesn't' fit to me, not sure I get it. But, that's how art goes sometimes.
Hauntingly beautiful song, with the full band input enriching the talents of Andrew and Emily. Can't help but think that the negative comments are really just racist reactions to the dancers in the video and have nothing to do with the music. Such a shame that there are so many blinkered views of a beautiful world.
Really? Because someone doesn't like a particular song or video they are branded a "racist" ??? Projecting that unsupported motive on others shows a bias equal to racism. God help us!
Well, Im not really feeling this new sound. Am I racist you reckon? Are there any other explanations maybe? Or does it not matter?
I really wish Watchhouse all the best, but I'm afraid the magic of Mandolin Orange is gone for good. However, I'll keep hoping in a second thought...
This one sounds a bit "pop-py" for sure.
I prefer the simple unplugged elegance of their earlier work. But who can blame them for wanting to try new things? Maybe they’ll come back around after experimentation.
The confused, somewhat “hurt comments of betrayal” don’t really surprise me. I guess. Your fans are passionate, loyal and true. Just like Dylan’s were before “Newport”. Keep doing what you believe to be right by your music. Your selves. It’s ALL GOOD!
Couldn't agree more! Mandolin Orange is my favorite band of all time.
Enjoy the music but prefer the "Mandolin Orange" name. I understand people have many reasons for change in the arts but the older name is one that is still my personal preference. It was a very unusual and unique name and new name when I first heard it, reminds me of "Watchtower" religious tracts that I used to see left at your door or left on buses on the seats.
Great song, liked it better than the video, of course, it was distracting- and the album will be for audio consumption
agree. I don't get the video, it doesn't seem make any sense and I too found it very distracting, even though I liked how the light change at first corresponded to the music and instruments. I had to listen a few times wuth headphones on and eyes closed. the music and the lyrics are captivating, the general composition reminded me a bit of Led Zep, just with less edgy lyrics and less excentric guitar work (which imo is a good thing)
The video definitely doesn't do the lyrics justice. It is a song dedicated to the daughter of Andrew and Emily. It's not a love song for couples, it's a motherly love song. By the way, I love the song, I just dislike the video. They are great guys.
I directed this video and wanted to comment on your comment. I also have a child and we collaborated on the concept. This is not a romantic video-just because it’s a woman and a man does not imply romantic love. The meaning behind this video has entirely to do with having a child and feeling like you’ve known them your entire life. We wanted to bring this feeling to people who have maybe not had that experience.
Why in the world would they change their name from Mandalin Orange....I will never understand.
Love the song but it is very far removed from the early Mandolin Orange songs that I have come to love. The video was meaningless to me - not sure what that was all about?
Blaach
Love the music! But sure can do without the video!
This song is great but the the video sucks.
Seems they have morphed into just another crappy pop band and shot another meaningless video...breaks my heart...followed them since their start...
Great song. Awful video.
Wow. You guys sold out. Thought you guys were NC. But you’re actually Asheville. Gross.
What?
