At the time of release people thought it was all about the joker due to the buzz of Heath ledgers performance. 11 years later it is very much a film about Batman’s choices and the consequences of his actions. Oh and it’s still the best superhero movie ever made by far ! No superhero movie has gone to these depths of thought. Logan was the closest.

Agreed. I rewatched the trilogy recently and found myself surprised by how underwhelming the Dark Knight's screenplay/plot actually is. The Dark Knight is fun of course and The Joker is great in every scene, but most of everything else is alright.
Skip is right on all points. Nicholson was the better Joker because he was actually FUNNY! Ledger took the humor out of the character. Eckhart gave the better, more nuanced performance. And Maggie was BAD! Not pretty enough to swing a guy like Bale, and she has no screen presence. You may not like it, but Skip is right here.
