  • The U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) Syphilis Study at Tuskegee was conducted between 1932 and 1972 to observe the natural history of untreated syphilis. As part of the study, researchers did not collect informed consent from participants and they did not offer treatment, even after it was widely available. The study ended in 1972 on the recommendation of an Ad Hoc Advisory Panel. After the study, sweeping changes to standard research practices were made. Efforts to promote the highest ethical standards in research are ongoing today.

With all due respect, that experiment was conducted around 1930-1972, so your reasoning is off as to why people shouldn’t live in Alabama. Using this logic, there would be no state Americans could live in. Your focus and ire should lie with the entity that conducted that NEFARIOUS study; the “United States Public Health Service”. There are legitimate reasons not to desire life in Alabama, such as: flash flooding, tornadoes, severe thunderstorms/lightning, education system is trash, median income is garbage, atrocious bug life, high levels of obesity, poverty, and the governor is HOT GARBAGE. There are also some benefits to living here. However, I am addressing the statement in the vid. Yes, I AM a resident of the state.

As a physician and historian, I will remind you again that Alabama didn't do that... the federal government did it. They chose Alabama simply because .... well, when you go fishing you go to where the fish are. And the black population was large there. That was about the same time when Margaret Sanger was championing birth control for blacks to keep their population down to protect the whites. That is the hero of the birth control movement...a flagrant self avowed racist.

I learned about this in 1964 in Nursing School. This program had nurses in charge, because, they took orders from the Doctors. We learned never to forget common sense. Refuse the procedure and report to your superiors. If that doesnt work. Since the black nirses were membets of the black community. They had the ear of the Pastor. If you need to be annonymous, you need to grow a conscious.
