BTS (Korean: 방탄소년단; RR: Bangtan Sonyeondan; lit. Bulletproof Boy Scouts), also known as the Bangtan Boys, is a South Korean boy band formed in 2010. The band consists of Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, who co-write or co-produce much of their material. Originally a hip hop group, their musical style has evolved to incorporate a wide range of genres, while their lyrics have focused on subjects including mental health, the troubles of school-age youth and coming of age, loss, the journey towards self-love, individualism, and the consequences of fame and recognition. Their discography and adjacent work has also referenced literature, philosophy and psychological concepts, and includes an alternate universe storyline.
BTS debuted in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment with the single album 2 Cool 4 Skool. BTS released their first Korean and Japanese-language studio albums, Dark & Wild and Wake Up respectively, in 2014. The group's second Korean studio album, Wings (2016), was their first to sell one million copies in South Korea. By 2017, BTS had crossed into the global music market and led the Korean Wave into the United States, becoming the first Korean ensemble to receive a Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for their single "Mic Drop", as well as the first act from South Korea to top the Billboard 200 with their studio album Love Yourself: Tear (2018). In 2020, BTS became one of the few groups since the Beatles (in 1966-1968) to chart four US number-one albums in less than two years, with Love Yourself: Answer (2018) becoming the first Korean album certified Platinum by the RIAA; in the same year, they also became the first all-South Korean act to reach number one on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard Global 200 with their Grammy-nominated single "Dynamite". Follow-up releases "Savage Love", "Life Goes On", "Butter", and "Permission to Dance" made them the fastest act to earn four US number-one singles since Justin Timberlake in 2006.
As of 2022, BTS is the best-selling artist in South Korean history according to the Circle Chart, having sold in excess of 30 million albums. Their studio album Map of the Soul: 7 (2020) is the best-selling album of all time in South Korea, as well as the first in the country to surpass both four and five million registered sales. They are the first non-English-speaking and Asian act to sell out concerts at Wembley Stadium and the Rose Bowl (Love Yourself World Tour, 2019), and were named the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry's (IFPI) Global Recording Artist of the Year for both 2020 and 2021. The group's accolades include multiple American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, Golden Disc Awards, and nominations for five Grammy Awards. Outside of music, they have addressed three sessions of the United Nations General Assembly and partnered with UNICEF in 2017 to establish the Love Myself anti-violence campaign. Featured on Time's international cover as "Next Generation Leaders" and dubbed the "Princes of Pop", BTS has also appeared on Time's lists of the 25 most influential people on the internet (2017-2019) and the 100 most influential people in the world (2019), and in 2018 became the youngest recipients of the South Korean Order of Cultural Merit for their contributions in spreading the Korean culture and language.
On June 14, 2022, the group announced a scheduled pause in group activities to enable the members to complete their mandatory South Korean military service, with a reunion planned for 2025. Jin, the oldest member, became the first to enlist, on December 13, 2022.

“Born Singer” describes BTS' journey from trainees to rookie idols, mostly focusing on the rap line’s thoughts, feelings, struggles, and victories.That's why it hits directly into ARMY's heart and yeap it's beautifully sung.All of their voice feels like heaven! 😅💗

Anyways I'm glad to tell you that your impression doesn't add or take away anything from them being the global Mega stars that they are.
I hate when some arrogant reactors think BTS needs their validation.
It's your loss if you don't like or enjoy their music...definitely your loss NOt theirs.

Glad you are checking out more. Some of the harmonies were from the BTS members themselves, and the ending ad-libs were from JungKook. Some of their music, especially the tracks during the pandemic, were more for just joy and light in the world but most of their music has way more depth and substance than a casual listener will realize. Thanks.

Enjoyed your reaction and glad you like it. The singer you liked was Jungkook (the Main Vocalist of the group and the youngest). He was also the one who did the little harmonized run at the end. The more you watch, you'll notice he's the one who does most of the ad-libs and harmonizing. If you want more emotional songs, try live versions of Truth Untold (vocal line), Your Eyes Tell & Film Out (both written by Jungkook)
It's so impressive how jungkook can sing perfectly while crying or eating or working out he just sings so beautifuly under any circumstances idk maybe he is the most stable vocalist I have ever seen in my life 😂

Jungkook did the ad libs, he's so good at it
Jungkook has a killer voice, the main vocalist. They have done this song several times and they update the lyrics. The 2017 version is amazing.

*Let me briefly explain BTS rapline to y'all!*
*RM* is a poet. You can not change my mind.His lyricism reads, sounds and works like poetry: a few words have multiple meanings and derivate in multiple chains of thought. Every time you listen to them, you discover new details, new ideas, new insights. Even when he's being straightforward, there's still some some philosophy or revelation or a big question or an aesthetic behind them. A poem is full of passion, but every word is chosen carefully, with intention. They're puzzle pieces, every piece has a place to create the full picture. It's a form of ART. WORDS WITH INTENTION.
*Suga's* lyricism is like "an arrow straight to the heart": you immediately understand the emotion he's trying to convey, you don't need to even know what he's saying to know "what you're supposed to FEEL". What he says is always interesting too, and it has layers too, but, from the first listen.... You usually feel that same way after listening to his song 1000 times. Even when the song is sociopolitical or when it displays an idea, your first impression is a STAB OF EMOTION forever tattooed in your memory.
*J HOPE's* lyricism is like a playground, an amusement park. A place where magical things happen, where you are encouraged to bend the rules. It's full of bright primal colors, you walk around with bounce in your steps and inevitably feel the childlike impulse of starting to dance around, or start imitating his onomatopoeias and alibis. There's a quirky creativity in his choice of analogies and a pure-hearted kindness in his message. Even when he expresses anger or sadness, there's this sense of DYNAMIC RHYTHM that is always moving, always unpredictable and ALIVE.

The thing is, title tracks (the ones that get music videos) in kpop are usually supposed to be just fun. Of course, with BTS even their title tracks have a lot to unpack, but they too have titles where it's just fun. The true gems, like real REAL good songs (in a sense of having substance) are inside the albums (the bsides). Some exceptions are No More Dream, N.O, Fire, Dope, Blood Sweat & Tears, Spring Day, Fake Love, IDOL, ON, Black Swan, Life Goes On and Yet To Come (the way I just realized they have more titles with substance than without I'm laughing HAHAHAHAHAHAH this is not normal in k-pop)
Their titles that have no deeper meaning, but are great nonetheless:

DNA (this one is the same as Boy With Luv, as q stand alone it enters this list, but if you look at it as the beginning of the Love Yourself trilogy, then it goes to the other list)

The English songs: Dynamite, Butter, Permission to Dance
Honestly this may be a controversial opinion but I think that Permission to Dance has a slightly deeper meaning. Its all about the world finally opening up again and being able to be together and dance together. The purple balloon BTS lets go of and all the armies see it and know its a sign that everything is okay. At least thats how I feel.
That performance was done in between the Las Vegas concert. Last year is 30 minutes from my house where it was filmed off of I 15 Barstow California if you watch the whole show they have two other songs and ever guest star at it it’s really great show.
BTS first sang Born Singer back in 2014, right after J-Cole released Born Sinner. This 2014 live in concert version is nowhere to be found anymore. There is a stage mix with 20 14/15 but the original is gone. The reason I'm telling you this is because the first version, literally ripped my heart out when I heard it. I've heard very few singers that can make you feel a song. They were so young. You would have never knew they were new to the business. The way they connected those words to everyone's HEART that was listening. You have to be special to do that.
I'll give it a 9 for sure. I'm so happy that you really enjoyed this song. I also appreciate your honesty, as it's refreshing as hell. Of course, I was one that immediately loved BTS, became ARMY, which is their fan base, and dug down the rabbit hole and have yet to come up. I don't think I ever will. I listen to and like a lot of K-pop and am partial to just a few groups, but BTS is the only artist I stan. They've drastically changed my life. That's how profound the effect they've had on me. Having said that, I have the wisdom of knowing just about everything there is to know publicly about them, which is different from your perspective. I think going forward there will be a lot more you like than dislike. I'm here for it! 💜
I love this song. The one you liked the most is Suga/ Agust D and there is a solo album coming next week so I really hope you check that out. Actually the two mixtapes he made in 2016/2020 were great please check those out as well. He writes and produces songs himself and made some for other artists too.

The singer you liked is Jungkook. Listed on Rolling Stone's recent list of best singers. He also just did a Calvin Klein ad pictorial that is probably the best since the Brooke Shields original.
The rapper you like is Suga (Agust D) legitimately one of the best around. If you like him, you should check out Agust D "Agust D" (great diss track over a James Brown beat). Not to be missed.
J Cole gave them permission to put Born Singer on there 2022 album Proof, they first performed it in 2013 I belive.

There lives are awesome im 57 years old and listen and seen a lot of artist heavy medal I was never into rap till BTS been to both there concert in LA and Vegas and too me the best stage shows I ever seen this boys are my heart and I been around
If you love rap, I suggest their older songs "Danger" and "Dope" but there were other better suggestions I think. And of course "Ugh" by the rap line (3 rappers). The guy you liked was Suga (he goes by Agust D as a solo rapper, outside BTS). If you're interested to check out his solo stuff, I'd suggest "Agust D" by Agust D and "Daechwita".
My fav Korean "girl group" is Mamamoo. They are known more for their vocals then dancing. "Wind Flower" is a chill vibe.

Their performance of this song back in 2015 I believe, has got to be my favourite. Their desperation and frustration of the unknown, they really were kids just clawing their way up to the top at the time and I just had to cry at the raw emotions.

One of my fav songs
They didn't really "looked back" in this song as it was written in 2013 , just 20 DAYS! after their beginning! They did a little update 3 years later and let 2-3 curse words out in this performance.😁

Some more context for this song: so they actually wrote this song in 2013, just a few months after they had debuted. The crazy part is at that time, they weren't doing that well since they were from a small company and didn't have much exposure/promotion. The lyrics hit harder knowing that they were written about fresh experiences so early in their career. And this confession that they're "born singers" really highlights how talented and hard working they are as artists. This song was finally officially released last year on their Proof anthology album because they got J Cole's approval. This live performance was part of the promotions for that album
Suga just released a new song for his album coming out at the end of the month called people pt2. He goes by Agust D when doing his solo work. You might like it.

I think you would like bts’s b sides more than their popular stuff. Being a fan of bts for more than a year I would say that their main stream songs are catchy and I could appreciate them but they are not exactly according to my music taste. Their b sides are the songs that made me stay.

Finally. You see a peek of BTS genius. First non-negative about RM (Kim Namjoon). He is the leader, heart, and, soul of BTS. The members all love and respect him. They will say without hesitation that the wouldn't be where they are without him. He has composed and produced most of their music and along with Suga (Min Yongi), taught J Hope how to rap (he's the one in the J Cole MV). J Hope is the dance leader and had no experience rapping. He has come a long way.
