I have the Luxury of owning both, an Audi A6 3.0 and now just recently purchased my used 15" Ghibli with 30,000 miles at a great price! Let me tell you, YOU CANNOT COMPARE THESE VEHICLES! Everywhere I look this car is turning heads and it's probably the only Maserati in my entire zip code, and it certainly makes a clear statement when I arrive to my business meetings. GET YOU ONE AT THE RIGHT PRICE, you will not be disappointed.

Exactly... once tasted the Maserati you'll be blowing away... my former car was a BMW 4 series cabrio... only 1 and half years old... with idrive and every possible option you can imagine... You just couldn't prepare soup in the car... so to say. It was a beautiful car I really liked..., but... comparing to my Maserati Ghibli... it was for my feeling just a Tupperware on wheels... even with more options... I don't care... the Maserati is unique... and very rare to see on the road... BMW at each corner of the street!

So basically he confirmed everything that Doug DeMuro said - the bad steering, being slow, super bad build quality, etc. But he would still buy it just to turn heads and pretend that he is rich...(when he is not)... lol... And actually, the restaurant scenario is not that likely as this car will be broken most of the time.

    • @martinsimek
      @martinsimek 3 роки тому +7

Not fast compared to what please? Is as quick as any comparable bmw or Mercedes 3.0 V6. You need to compare apples vs apples. A 550bmw is a v8 hence not comparable. They Handle quite good and much better than a Mercedes equivalent by ten fold. Bmw is not bad either in the handling game but they have been drumming this home for years. The leathers are much much higher quality in the Maserati than any German equivalent. Plastic buttons and switches. Ok. So what does bmw and Mercedes use? Plastics too. Porsche actually use VW switch gear and no one seems to give it a mention. All The tech that Doug mentioned is available for Maserati so no problem there. You just need to tick the option such as Porsche foe example. I’m all the Maserati looks lots better than all the boring Germans, sound better and hold value as good if not better than an equivalent 5 series or e class.

Didn’t matter, the levante turned heads like nothing I’ve ever seen, people took pictures of it, came up to me to ask what it was, or stared. I didn’t think it was so great, ride was ok, handling was meh, acceleration was disappointing, but MAN, it sounds like an absolute monster. Having leased a 16 Maserati Ghibli SQ4 and a 19 SQ4 I can say the positives outweigh the negatives by a wide margin. 424hp, AWD, huge Italian style, crazy Italian exhaust note, 4.5 sec 0-60. Auto start, heated wheel, heated rear seats, adaptive cruise w lane keeping, great sound system, handles like a sport coupe, SPORT MODE is awesome, you can hear your F1 pit crew telling you “mode push, mode push” lol. The car is special, and not a a fleet Euro car, MB, Audi, BMW etc. It’s a car that EVERYONE wishes they could drive, and yes the valets never give you a ticket, it’s I got you bro, so please tip them appropriately. I would definitely buy one off a 3 or 4 year lease with low miles and clean carfax, all the major depreciation has taken place.Treat yourself once!

I bought a 2018 Ghibli SQ4 GranLusso a few weeks ago. Had one owner (who traded it in for a Porsche SUV), has low miles, VERY well maintained and it looks brand new, inside and out. Got a great price on it. I agree with Adam regarding purchasing a Maserati Ghibli, but not entirely for the reasons he states... If you consider buying a used Ghibli for short money, be sure to focus on the year, mileage, model, options and maintenance records.. For example, Maserati made some upgrades on the Ghibli since it was first introduced. Unlike the model in this video, my SQ4 has a V6, twin turbo that puts out 424HP and does 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. Scheduled maintenance on these cars is key..., and its not cheap, so keep that in mind. Be mindful of a Ghibli that came off a lease. They've often been beat on, and were not well maintained.

Also its bad financial advice to buy Maserati (or any premium brands) as a middle class as the maintenance will set you back and stop you getting ahead.
Showing off will only get you so far…

The best thing is to buy one of these that are a few years old and low mileage. Luxury cars depreciate like crazy, and quickly too. I bought myself a 2016 Jaguar XFS AWD that was $74,000 brand new for $32,000 this year in January. As of rn I only have 15000 miles on it. Don’t waste your money buying a brand new luxury vehicle.

Nice video, Adam, and interesting points of view. Some notes from someone that bought one brand new and got back 37% of the original price (in Australia, mind you) after 6 years of trouble-free ownership (the car was kept in perfect condition and still had extended warranty when I sold it).
    Here are my points:
    1. I am not sure an E-class or an A6 or a 5-series would have kept their value much more. If they did, we would not be talking about a major amount of money.
    2. I have owned a BMW, three Mercedes cars and one Audi. The Maserati was more reliable than most of them. Granted, I did not drive it every day, but my car was very reliable. The Audi had major gearbox issues (at low kms) and the E-class had to go back on a truck once - not to mention things breaking all the time. The BMW was as reliable as the Maserati.
    3. My Ghibli (base model petrol, 330 hp) was exactly the same price as an E400 at the time of purchase in Australia. Identical performance; not slower. The E-class far better screwed together and more practical, but terribly bland. (And I love the E-class; one the best allround cars one can buy despite quality issues.)
    4. The cheap plastics are annoying, but so were all the VW parts in my Audi. And the infotainment in my $100k BMW was a joke for the money. Not to mention the loughable ergonomics in the Audi that had more than 20 buttons around the gear stick -- an idiotic practice that both Audi and Porsche seem to love. The worst part for me in the Ghibli was that the whole car does not feel as solid as a Merc E-class or a BMW 5-series.
    5. Does it turn heads? Oh yeah. Does it sound unbelievable, in a very technical, Italian way? Sure it does. Is it the cheapest way to get your hands on a Ferrari-built, incredible engine? Yep. Is the fantastic ZF gearbox perfectly mated to this wonderful engine and competent chassis? Aboslutely. Even average drivers like me get incredibly satisfying power slides, being fully in control. Good luck getting that out of an Audi or an E-class.
    6. Do you want a much better screwed car, more space everywhere, more long distance comfort and refinement, more gadgets but still a good looking car with a magic engine? Get a recent, low-kms Quattroporte. I did, and I am never looking back!

The people that make fun of the window switches sound dumb. They don’t realized that these switches you complain about came originally from Mercedes.. when Mercedes & Chrysler were merged. Chrysler adapted those switches and chassis to make the 300 and other models. So basically when people make fun of everything in this car they’re making fun of everything mercedes built. And they’re making fun of the dodge Chargers and challengers which are based on the same chassis. It’s crazy how much people don’t know about cars and let a review do it for them.

And unfortunately this car doesn’t handle well - it’s based on an older merc/chrys 300. It is beautiful but you can see sergio m was just trying to increase volume. Maserati is fixing the error of this mentality by building on the giorgio platform w the alfa / ferrari derived v6.

Smooth power, comfortable ride, luxury features, build quality etc...if you want a car with poor build quality, poor reliability, no fetures and parts bin switches, those are typically not executive cars . that fits the description of a Pontiac Bonneville from the 90s.......

You can argue any luxury car is for a "narcissist" simply cause a Toyota Corolla gets you from A to B just as fine as a Mercedes E class.
A Maserati is built well in some areas and less well in others. But the same goes for BMW, Mercedes or Audi.
I've driven all these cars and a BMW or Mercedes can feel just as cheap in some areas.
Honestly, it's all whatever you value most. Ghiblis come with a different engine than pretty much any sedan, have a different look on design and the badge holds more emotional value than alternatives. For some that's enough, for some it's not.
