Oh man, what a rush! I had a '73 tradesmen 300, 1 ton van. Of course, I shagged and paneled it... Took it all over the U.S. in my day. Had a sink and house stereo in it, for camping. Electric for hook ups in camp grounds. Mine had 8 lug 16" wheels... it was a tough work horse, and I loved it. It had a 318 V 8. I even moved into my home with it... GREAT van for hauling... OH MAN, when you opened the hood, memories rushed back to me! I had done my own work on it... Although I only had a 318 in it, it looked the same from that angle... When it wore out in the late 90's, I donated it to an organization... It still did some good for someone... I STILL have the original booklet that came in the glove box- they don't call me a SUPER SAVER for nothing! THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!
A van from the year I turned 10, yep vans were popular in the 70's into the 80's which see alot of them on tv series from that era. I've heard these called sgagin' wagon lol as a nickname if that makes sense. Thank you for sharing.
Oh yeah, that was a cool one - it couldn't have been that bad to just toss it aside. And you should keep on reading out the VINs & the options - some of us truly appreciate what you do.
Such a cool van built the same year I was born. I'd be saving this old girl, wouldn't be touching that paint on the outside it looks good just the way she is!!!
Did you ever get buy this lovely Van..??.. I certainly would have if I only knew where it was at..??.. I'm more than positive that in order to get her running back out on the streets and Road ways..??.. It probably would use a good degreaser and wash. Probably not forget about changing the Oil and fluids, also adding to them to..
I used to see many Dodge Tradesman vans when I was young and the only Tradesman I ever rode in was a passenger one. Makes me sad I missed out riding in a cool van like the one in this video. ☹
It's been 9 months now just curious if you have done anything with the van as I'm getting a 76 high top tandem axle about the same condition it was a RV then gutted for hauling good luck
BENNY WHERE DO YOU FIND THESE CARS OR TRUCKS OR VANS ,, OR DO THEY COME TO YOU !! WOW WHAT A 70S FLASH BACK.. THAT SHAGGGY IS GREAT!! IF THAT VAN COULD TALK> GREAT FIND,,...
Whoa Nelley, it's a Mello Yellow van, man. When you had the shag, you could really brag. But for us, when we get the VIN, we win: B for B Series Van, 2 for 3/4 ton rating, 1 for compact van/Tradesman style, B for 6,001 to 10,000 # GVWR rating, F for 360 V8 with two barrel, 7 for 1977 model year, K for Pillette Road/Windsor Ontario Canada assembly (which closed in 2003 when the B Series van stopped) and the rest is the production sequence. I like the sheet metal screws, just zipped through the floor pan. Typical 1970s "craftsmanship". LOL. Yup, Preston Chrysler was located at 13439 Preston Rd. Dallas, TX 75240. Google Maps shows that as an empty lot now. Whoa Nelley, Van Zandt, not Van Zant (the latter was the lead singer of Lynyrd Skynyrd). The Van Zandt Sheriff's Office is located at 1220 West Dallas Street , Canton TX, 75103. Last on the road in 1994, not 2004 based on the stickers on the window. No, they likely mean rear door and glass package, as many vans could have no windows in the back. 127 is the wheelbase in inches. Possible code Y5 Yellow Blaze exterior paint. That invoice is an old Sears Auto invoice. I have a few for my 1984 Delta 88 for tires, and what not that was done in the first few years of its' life. Yup, Preston Chrysler was located at 13439 Preston Rd Dallas, TX 75240. True Temper is a company that makes lawn and garden tools and a lot of their stuff was made in the USA. Between them and Union Fork and Hoe, they made a lot of garden tools. Union I believe at one time supplied Sears Craftsman. It's likely the former owner had some trees or stumps or wood on their property and that's why they had those tools. You can put new handles on them and clean up the heads. Nothing wrong with them. It's a box that used to rock. Was happenin' in '77, now it's going to Heaven. Going to be flat, and that's that. We got the VIN, we win, but it's going to be squished and that's a sin. It used to run, but now it's done. Time to go, don't you know. That's it, time to quit. It's going to be squished and yup, we're pissed.
In the mid 70’s I tricked out a 1963 Ford econoline and later a 1969 dodge tradesman. These style van were the rage. People even had clubs and shows. Factory jobs could not enter. The fad vanished as fast as it appeared
There were also a few "van culture" movies released at the time. I remember reading that one guy actually found one of them abandoned on a desert property, he supposedly got "permission" to take the van and he restored it only to find out that the old owner of the property still had rights to the van.
I hope you nabbed those wheels. I don't even know what else is tough on those. The little windows might be flippable. The radio might sell, aftermarket 8-track decks aren't too common. I just sold one on eBay that was a Radio Shack aftermarket AM-FM-cassette with CB.
I had looked up the dealer & seems to be still in business under the same name. When people talk like that I think they want it to happen, just my thinking is all.
I think it's gone. It was located at 13439 Preston Rd. Dallas, TX 75240 which appears to be an empty lot now. There's a Preston Chrysler, but it's in PA, not TX.

Those black arm rests are the same ones they used on the late 60s Road Runners. They are always a quick sale at the swap meets.

What happened to this van? Did it get sold or restored?
Neither, the junkyard crushed it
@@ClassicRideSociety Oh wow. That's terrible. It looked like it was in great shape. The roofline and interior floor looked A+.

Previous owner was an axe murderer, and was found dead in the drivers seat, body still embedded into the fabric
