Verse 1 There is an everlasting kindness, You lavished on us When the radiance of heaven came to rescue the lost You called the sheep without a shepherd To leave their distress For Your streams of forgiveness And the shade of Your rest Verse 2 And with compassion for the hurting You reached out Your hand As the lame ran to meet You and The dead breathed again You saw behind the eyes of sorrow And shared in our tears Heard the sigh of the weary let the children draw near Chorus 1 What boundless love what fathomless grace You have shown us O God of compassion Each day we live an off'ring of praise As we show to the world Your compassion Verse 3 We stood beneath the cross of Calv'ry And gazed on Your face At the thorns of oppression and wounds of disgrace For surely You have borne our suff'ring And carried our grief As You pardoned the scoffer and Showed grace to the thief Verse 4 How beautiful the feet that carry this gospel of peace To the fields of injustice and the valleys of need To be a voice of hope and healing to answer the cries Of the hungry and helpless with the mercy of Christ
It would be interesting to know what percentage of individuals and churches that love and sing this song do not favor showing compassion to Syrian refugees by supporting their entry into America. If there is a price to be paid (and risks to be taken), that's a big part of what being followers of Jesus is supposed to be about, isn't it?
+Kids-Move/RONNO The root problem in in Syria and elsewhere----can we realistically take in all from countries where there are problems? Hopefully, this song so spiritually inspired will help inspire compassion around the globe.
+Carole Baber Of course we can not take in all from countries where there are problems. But that does not mean we should slam the door shut on any and all Syrian refugees, as some have been advocating.
You are reflecting the same sentiment Judas rebuked the Lord Jesus for when a woman used costly spikenard perfume on Him instead of giving the money for it to the poor, or when the Pharisees rebuked Jesus and His disciples for walking through the fields and partaking of grain on the Sabbath, or when David ate the showbread from the altar of unleavened bread. This is a worship time the Getty's are leading in--Jesus/He deserves our worship and Praise!! God loves all people, and takes care of all. Besides that it is easy to point out the sins of others, or presume.
truthfully, I as a Christian have a desire to grow to this level of compassion. the standards you speak of are noble and I admire that. unfortunately, it is rarely evident in Christian lives today than it was in the lives of the apostles. unfortunately the church has fallen from afar off from many biblical truths today, even in the countries we live in. Jerusalem itself is desolate, how can it then spread to Greece? may God grant us greater faith and love and true followers to show compassion to the nations you speak of.
it's very difficult to have open arms of compassion for people who live halfway around the world, demand to be fed, protected, raping women who don't dress in burkas. Compassion isn't what these people need, it's what they demand. thanks for bringing up a political argument to this song. Christians are called to give, and we do. but we are wary of the real problems. in Sudan a few years ago, a bloody civil war was going on, and no one demanded the refugees be rescued out by other countries. what's different about Syria?
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all. Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. -- COLOSSIANS 3:1-17
How worshipful and lovely. I have never heard this song and just love it. God's love and compassion are endless.
I love this song so much it reminds me of how amazing God is-the lyrics and music are so beautiful. Want to have this at my wedding
Glory be to God! A truly blessed song.
These folks are truly inspired. It's sooo good to see someone writing such wonderful modern hymns with such grace. I think I know who's behind it...
Our church attempted to sing this today in church... needs a few more practices!
I really love the lyrics, wonderful song.
Verse 1
There is an everlasting kindness, You lavished on us
When the radiance of heaven came to rescue the lost
You called the sheep without a shepherd
To leave their distress
For Your streams of forgiveness
And the shade of Your rest
Verse 2
And with compassion for the hurting
You reached out Your hand
As the lame ran to meet You and
The dead breathed again
You saw behind the eyes of sorrow
And shared in our tears
Heard the sigh of the weary let the children draw near
Chorus 1
What boundless love what fathomless grace
You have shown us O God of compassion
Each day we live an off'ring of praise
As we show to the world Your compassion
Verse 3
We stood beneath the cross of Calv'ry
And gazed on Your face
At the thorns of oppression and wounds of disgrace
For surely You have borne our suff'ring
And carried our grief
As You pardoned the scoffer and
Showed grace to the thief
Verse 4
How beautiful the feet that carry this gospel of peace
To the fields of injustice and the valleys of need
To be a voice of hope and healing to answer the cries
Of the hungry and helpless with the mercy of Christ
Thank you for these lyrics. God bless you for your generosity
I love this....
🙏🙏
Beautiful
Wonderful!
Very anointed hymn.
