Thanks for showing the community my Dad's Zippos he was immensely proud of them and was proud to have served his country. He served in the Navy and navy reserves from 1966-1986 or so. then worked at a federal facility in northeast Alabama for another 20 plus years. He loved his country to say the least. He is probably smiling knowing that other people appreciates his relics and understands the meaning of them.
Thank you again sir...I will acknowledge his Navy Time in the next video. Thanks for sharing this. I must have forgot that. Sorry man. Thank you sir for his Service!!
I tried doing the same in the original video with that service man's Zippo and looked up the name Barnett instead of Burnett and posted a comment with the wrong veteran and his details. I tried doing a good deed and ended up doing a disservice. My apologies.
Wow I’m from Barbourville Ky, did not know of Mr. Elmer. I’ll have to ask my family. Thank you for honoring him, and all you do! I enjoy watching your videos each night. Thank you, God bless !
Great video. My favorites videos are the rebuild ones like the one today. I received my 2024 Ellaville Show knife yesterday. It’s really nice. Thanks and keep up the good work 👍🏻
Those were my dad's zippos featured today. Every lighter was somewhere he had been or a ship he went to while in the navy. He was a crew man on a grumman C1- trader. He was drafted in 1966
Hey doc. Speaking of broken knife springs, a replacement spring can be made from an old skilsaw blade. No tempering necessary. I hope this helps on future repairs. Keep up the good work doc.❤
@@Terry-b5p hello sir. I doubt I ever do that. Thanks for the suggestion though. I will look into that. I would need something special to cut it out with. I think I'll stick with spare parts of others or make it a single blade.
Amazing Awesome Museum is coming together . So much great gifts and contributions from people. It would be cool to make tiny small wood or ? Plaques with the people’s names that contributed- so as they would be remembered! If I recall sometimes back you were gifted a box full of Knife springs & blades, pins etc. larger springs or spring steel material can be carefully modified/ground shaped to make a replacement spring for that 100 year old knife ! Would been cool to keep both Blades. Great video. Thanks for sharing

Awesome video, I've also got a Zippo that's dated 1951-1952 and has the name W.J.Laub on it. The ship on the Zippo is the U.S.S. Pittburgh CA 72. And on the back it has mediterranean cruise 1953, with all the places they went to. Would be awesome to find some information about the person that served on that ship, but haven't had much luck myself yet. If someone could help me out that would be awesome, also to restore the history of this person and lighter.
Yo, Doc... Awesome work on that old Boker. I love them old long pull, swedged blades. Truely saved a gem there. I seen a knife repairer use a $5 windshield repair kit from Amazon to hide & stabilize bone, acrylic, MOP & all kind of handle cracks disappear, it worked on a vintage 9333 Case xx pearl handle for me, ☠Rogue...out
No sir...It was made between 1950-1957. It has the patent number on it. According to the patent number thats on it, the dates above are correct. Thanks for keeping me straight though.
I am not arguing with a man who has more Zippos on one row than I have owned in my life. That being said I am talking about the 3rd lighter that you showed. You are the one that taught me to use the Slim dating section on the identification card.
Thank you for sharing the video. Enjoyed it very much very heart touching. I think you should let that cigarette lighter original would be nice if you could find somebody to copy that lighter very interesting. Once again really enjoyed your video one other question what size pins and drillbit are you using for them? Pen knives
Not sure Kevin, if you noticed??? But when you opeded up that very 1st Zippo lighter, smoke came out of that lighter when the lid opened.... WOW... THAT WAS A SIGN FROM CHRIS' FATHER..Just saying. 🙏👍 GREAT VIDEO BUDDY
Your reply made me cry. My dad cherished those old zippos. I've known of them my whole life but wouldn't let me touch them they meant so much to him. He passed in August 2024. He went to every ship or country on those zippos. I have no one to leave anything like that to. Glad the world could see his prized possessions.
God bless you my buddy.. I believe whole heartedly that that was a sign of him showing himself... I'm a FERM believer of things like this... I've seen them before... That's why it was so obvious to me... Thanks for the comment and God bless you and your family... 🙏♥️✌️✝️
